Bought this tarp a month ago and so far I feel it’s a pretty good product. We had to take down a Maple tree (scales) next to the pergola, and sad to see it go after 15 years. We knew it was going to open up the area to a lot more sun. We really liked the shade and cooler area of the pergola under the Maple and were accustomed to it. The plants liked it too, but, with the tree gone, they began to complain about the heat and constant sun. So, we started to look for solutions. We looked at different tarps, how to use them and fasten them for shade, and how to set them in different configurations. For our purposes, we decided just to lay the tarp on top of the pergola and attach the corners to the pergola support posts. This turned out to be the easiest and best way for us. We bought a 12’ x 16’ tarp, graphite. On the day we put it up, it took approx 30 minutes to lay it out, adjust and move it into position (re: the sun’s movement during the day), drilling attachment points on the posts, and clipping the tarp to the posts. We read the instructions re: one side of the tarp is waterproof, the other side not. Reviewers here say it is waterproof, others say it isn’t, eh, who knows. All I know is, I did not want a waterproof tarp on top of the pergola, so before I put it up, I poured a few buckets of water on one side, then on the other. Honestly, I did not notice any difference. But, to keep myself from waking up in a cold sweat one rainy night, I put the tarp on the pergola with the binding and seams facing up and looking at the universe. During the rains this month, the water has been coming through the tarp freely. We are constantly surprised how this tarp keeps the area beneath it nice and cool. Very, veryimpressive. Even the Jade plant has let us know how happy it is. An added plus is that it also diffuses the sun light and creates a nicely shaded sitting area during the day. I definitely recommend these tarps.

The media could not be loaded. Update: I watched this thing during Hurricane Francine and there’s not one hole in it. It flapped in the wind but never came down. Pretty impressive. Get one. Plain and simple. See video. I bought this when I had a birthday party this year at 51. I was able to hang it over my patio on an especially hot day where there was a heat advisory. It made such a big difference. My swing and another chair or directly under it, and I’m able to sit out there and relax with without excessive heat. It has rained many times since my birthday and there’s not a rip or tear nor any sign that this thing is falling apart. If you hang it right and if you buy it with the tool kit that helps you hook it up it will last you a really long time. My birthday party was in May. It is now August , I will come and update if there’s any change, but I don’t see one in the near future

We purchased this triangular sun shade sail three years ago to provide shade over our kids' trampoline, and it has held up remarkably well. Durable & High Quality: The fabric and stitching are very sturdy. After three years of outdoor exposure, it shows no signs of tearing or significant wear. The stainless steel D-rings have not rusted. Effective Sun Protection: It blocks a great amount of sun while still being breathable. Our children can play on the trampoline without getting too hot or overexposed to the sun. Since it's a triangle, it won't fully cover a large circular area. We initially considered buying a second one for complete coverage, but found one was sufficient for our needs.

Bought these to stretch over pool to provide a little shade. They work quite well, but the durability can be seen to diminish as they are out in the central florida sun most days. Will probably need to replace after 3-4 years....but in the meantime, they work great for sun protection, color is good. We have them mounted on ropes with clips and boat cleat tie-downs to hold up over pool. We have to take them down during hurricane season, but they are easily stored.

I have a small back yard patio with a small pergola against the house, and during the summer when my patio garden is finally starting to look nice, I enjoy sitting out there admiring how hearty the plants are and how effective a generous plant food schedule is in making the flowers bloom and the greenery get bushy and fill in. My problem, however, is that I had more than one vampire in the family tree, because any time I am in the sun for more than ten minutes, I start to turn red like a lobster at a seafood boil, so finding a shade that will allow me to enjoy the patio without bursting into flames has an essential, especially one that I may put up and take down with ease as I don't have anyone to help me with this chore. This rectangular sail shade fits just perfectly over the exposed area of my patio where the narrow pergola doesn't reach. After having the hooks mounted into the appropriate place, I am able to use my extending hanger rod to easily get the D hooks on the shade into the proper position and stretch it out so that it fits perfectly, provides shade without making it pitch dark underneath, and my plants that prefer a bit less direct sunlight benefit from it as well. Since I received it and got the hooks in place, I've been out enjoying my patio each afternoon and evening, taking it down in just a few minutes when we had an electrical storm move through so that the planters could benefit from the rainfall that came. I just keep track of which D ring needs to be mounted first ( I use the one where the product tag is sewn into that corner for a visual reference to get the long side up ) then get the others in place in a jiffy. I love the color because it works well with the red brick and white trim on my home, it provides shade but also allows enough light through without being too bright, and it's just so easy to put up and down I still can't get over it. I'm completely delighted with my purchase and I have no hesitation recommending.
