Blown glass featuring bold contemporary colors, traditional techniques and a flair for the outrages. Established in 1997 as a small woman owned hot glass studio. The shop provides a space for Dehanna to create her glass designs. In every piece of glass there is a story waiting to be told. Totally Blown Glassworks offers a unique, visually stunning product line of richly colored handmade blown art glass created ‘in house’ at its hot glass studio located in Seattle, WA. Designer - Artist Dehanna Jones showcases her love of color, complex pattern and sense of style for those who appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship of blown glass while adding elegance to any space. I fell in love with working with molten glass in 1987 while pursuing my bachelor of fine arts degree in ceramics at the UW. In 1997 I built and opened my own hot glass studio in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, Totally Blown Glassworks. Along with the traditional techniques involved in blown glass, I incorporate technical elements of hot glass sculpting and casting in my predominately blown forms. Each one is unique and will differ slightly. Some have a more molted look with a different distribution of colors. Others have a bit of a twist. Every ornament will look different when rotated and displayed in different lighting. The white powder series are mainly transparent letting the light shine through. Enriching Life with Color. “My glass work is created by a combination of traditional glass blowing techniques and my attraction to intense color. I first gather molten glass from a 2100 degree furnace on a blow pipe and colorize each vessel with the raw elements that make color. My work is not painted, but colored glass manipulated while hot to form pattern. I use the transparency of glass to transmit and reflect light through the layers of opaque and transparent colors.” This burst of color can be displayed and enjoyed all year.
