Very nice heavy duty. Some complained about the crank not being solid enough. I found that when you crank it up, put the pin through, and then crank it back, just an inch to allow the ropes sagging room. That way the crank isn’t doing all the work. That is why the pin is there. It is huge I absolutely love it and I don’t even think about when the wind is blowing any longer put sand in the bags drop it down when it’s not in use and if any problems show up I’ll come back and let you know. ... show more

Sturdy and assembles just like all my other outdoor umbrellas. Really cool size. My only complaint is that the base is really big. I use the umbrella for my big outdoor dining table and the base is clunky and chunky so I can't push the chairs in anymore and everyone uses it as a footrest.

I have been looking for an umbrella that is big enough and finally I found this one. It is big enough and beautiful. It provides a lot of shade for my yard when the hot season comes, so that my dog and I can stay outside happily. Hope this one will last for years! I highly recommend it!

Initial happiness with this purchase quickly turned to disappointment. Easy to set up with the exception of the base. That was a complete pain in the you-know-what. It is in pieces and you have to fit each piece in a slot to make the base. It was not easy. Once set up, however, the umbrella opened nicely, looked great and did provide a lot of shade. Here’s the really bad now. On roughly the 6th time of lowering the umbrella to the closed position, I noticed that the crank handle was getting hard to turn. No problem opening, just the closing phase. So, the next time I opened it easily, and then when it was time to close, even more resistance with the crank. Had to really force it. Well, all of a sudden there was a snapping sound and the crank was just sitting there loosely. Opened up the cover to the crank to discover that the bolt that goes through the pole that holds the crank and string that allows for opening and closing completely broke off at the one end. See pictures I have attached. Now, I don’t know what kind of metal this bolt is made from, but it appears to be a very soft metal and incapable of even handling the weight of this umbrella. Contacted seller and left message on voicemail and sent an email as well, but no response from either so far. If I don’t hear from them tomorrow with a resolution, then I am returning to Amazon. Luckily, I still have 2 days left within the 30 day return window. Buyer beware with this item. ... show more

I installed the base and support frame very quickly because it was very simple. In order to better fix the support, I used several bags of sand. After everything was prepared, I put the umbrella on it. It was very stable and did not swing. Then I opened and closed it very easily. It was very large when opened, almost covering my terrace.
