  • Simple, sturdy, adaptable.
I've purchased three different stabilizers and this is by far the most adaptable and easy to use. Instructions weren't included, but YouTube of course provided ten great options and none was necessary. The FLYCAM adapts onto the vest and arm I recently purchased and also works well as a stand alone. Balancing is simple, the rod is adjustable in length and weights (included) are easy to add to the bottom plate. One difference between equipment is not high-quality, well thought out, and equipment like this--that IS, are the standardized sizes that allow for adding non-proprietary equipment and adapting this equipment to work with other, off-brand stuff. In photo/video, 1/4" and 3/8" UNC are almost universal on tripods and mounts--and this steady device features plenty. Another feature I like, that wasn't available on the less expensive Neewer model, is a sliding collar on the handle that allows for adjustment up or down the primary balancing rod. Used as a stand-alone steadiam, I've found a handle position closer to the camera plate is best--but adapting this into a very inexpensive attempt at an Arri Trinity favors positioning the handle mid-shaft and more balanced. The camera plate features horizontal and verticle worm threads for making adjustments to the camera's position. This comes in handy when changing lenses, accessories, or doing about anything that would otherwise throw off the balance. On less expensive models this feature doesn't exist and that requires a whole lot of manual adjust--test--adjust--test...it takes a whole lot of time. I'm relatively new to this industry, but already the difference between quality, and 'good enough' is becoming obvious. I dare not venture into the top notch professional equipment that lives at price points beyond what I can or should reasonably consider--but in the prosumer range, this is an impressive piece of equipment. I'm shooting still with a Nikon D810 and probably going to get a D750 back-up, and video with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera--no matter what lens I use on either of the aformentioned bodies, this handles them well. It's amazing how such a simple device improves the quality of video, and sometimes when shooting run and gun stills at events or otherwise I've started using this with success. I can't speak to the durability since I've only had this for a couple of weeks--but I suspect, based on the 'feel' of it--there won't be any issues. ... show more

  • VERY GOOD
Pretty sturdy. It took a few minutes to figure out how to put it together and balance it. To tell the truth I'm still learning this. However it's very easy to use. I haven't used it without the best and may never do so but it's nice to know I can. This fixed my video stability issue for me instead of going handheld and having very shaky video like I did previously. ... show more

  • First time user
I bought this because it is MUCH cheaper than the Devin Graham Glide Cam series. I have not seen that one in person so i cannot compare the build, but this one is fairly stout. easy to assemble, took me maybe 15 minutes to get it balanced with my G85 camera. I have never used one before so there was a learning curve but after about 45 minutes of using it i was happy with the results. Once you start taking smooth steps it gets even steadier. the only hiccup i had with it was locking in the quick release plate. the lever to tighten it down would hit my camera. I was still able to get it locked in place but it took a bit of effort . Overall im happy with my purchase as i am just a hobbyist, so for the price and occasional usage it is perfect for my needs. ... show more

  • Great Stabilizer at an Incredible Price
I've owned a couple other gimbals, namely the Flycam HD-3000 and the Glidecam HD1000. This one is definitely the best of the three. I've been using it for about two months now. PROS: 1. Construction - Solid, feels durable, looks very sharp. Nice Labels on the adjustment knobs make it way easier to know which way you're moving the plate. Not having this always bugged me about the Glidecams. So many great little details make it a breeze. Adjustable gimbal with rulers - what a great idea! 2. Operation - Very easy to setup, and had it stable with my GH5 within 10 minutes. 3. Price - This gimbal blows away any that I've seen in it's price range. Parker Walbeck has a great comparison video in which it holds its own against the $799 DGS Glidecam, and they've improved the design somewhat since then. 4. Comes with Quick Release Plate - Low and mid range Glidecams don't come with one, you have to buy an aftermarket one from Neewer or Manfrotto or some other brand, and the screws may or may not align properly with the cheese plate. Just a hassle. CONS: 1. Weight - This stabilizer is noticeably heavier than most other manual stabilizers. I have not yet used it in any long shoots, so that hasn't been a big deal to me. All in all, a great piece of equipment, and the extra 1.5 lbs is well worth it for the money saved on this as opposed to the DGS Glidecam. I highly recommend it and would buy again. ... show more

  • Great product, even better company.
This is 4 times less expensive than the nearest competitor (IMHO). The only thing better than the product is the leadership at the company. I don't want to go into details but suffice it to say that they want to make sure you're not only happy but that you become a raving fan. I'm a raving fan of proaim. Pros: Price, quality of build, company behind the product. Cons: The grip slipping problem and it's a little heavy. This is not for whiners and wimps. Depending on your gear this is going to get heavy at times. If you can't handle the weight then don't buy it and don't complain. I'm sure the grip fix is on the way. Great job Proaim! ... show more
