I am very pleased with this product! I use it shade my garden in Oklahoma where it’s very hot and very windy. See photos. These garden shades have taken an incredible amount of abuse from our weather. This is the second summer for them and they are still going strong! I expect to get another season or more out of them. Living in a hot climate is terrible for tomato and other plants. In my region, the temperature quickly and regularly exceeds 85 degrees by early day. My tomato plants produced a lot of green tomatoes that would not turn red because of the heat and direct sunlight. I put this shade over the top of my garden and saw instant results in my tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and other plants. The soil was holding a greater percentage of moisture reducing the need for daily watering. Using 40% shade cloth allowed me to leave the product on all day. Traditionally, anything over 40% will require removal in the afternoon. I tied the cloth to six, eight-foot stakes approximately five feet above my tallest plant. The product works best under tension. Six posts provided the right amount of support to avoid a dip in the middle. I used basic 5-50 cord to secure the cloth to the post. The product held up very well in the wind. We had a few substantial wind storms with no problem. Not even the slightest rip. ... show more

This did a great job last year! The knock I have against it is it definitely won't make it to next year. It is still 90-95% good, but is starting to tear. I will probably buy this again next year because it does block the sun extremely well!!!

I only gave 3 stars as it really does not cut 40 percent as stated...its more like 15 to 20 percent. It would have been much better if it was not as stretchy, and of grommets were maybe a foot apart. My first plan, using strong PVC fell and came undone at a small bit of wind. My next attempt, using zip ties, a 6 ft chain link fence, and a 3 ft piece of fencing I put up was better. I split some Dollar Tree pool noodles and topped the fences to protect the shade cloth and zip tied it on, and a month later that is holding up fine...but again, not 40 percent shade. It was cheap tho, so really, I reckon it was worth even that much shade. I might buy another to double them, but I will see. ... show more
