  • WOW! What a great addition to our deck!
Perfect! This awning makes it feel like a new addition to our home. We barely used this area because of the sun but now it's our #1 place to be! We use it day & night! The installation was a breeze...just my husband all by himself, a few hours later and it was ready.

  • Installing on vinyl siding
I had to install this on vinyl siding. I'm going to try to explain how I did it. I used a siding zipper tool to pop up the siding to locate the studs. You should be able to tell where the studs are based on where the particle board seams are...you should see nails or screws where the particle board was screwed into the studs. Studs should be 16" apart. I then popped the siding back into place and measured in 16" increments from where I made my initial mark..that way you can at least know where the studs are while the siding is on. There are 3 brackets(at least with the 12x8 awning).. I mounted(will explain how below) the middle bracket(it doesn't have to be perfectly centered as you can adjust the awning side to side). I then put the awning into the groove of the middle bracket and had help holding it in place while I adjusted left to right as to find where the other 2 brackets would hit a stud and the awning would be where I wanted it. You only have so much space to place the outer brackets on the awning itself so I was only able to find 2 studs to support it(make sure the middle bracket is in a stud). The third bracket mounted fairly securely into the OSB behind the siding so it shouldn't be an issue. Now for mounting the brackets on the siding: I measured how far the siding stuck out from the wall behind it. It ended up being roughly 5/8". I went to Lowe's and bought nuts that are 3/4" deep(not wide). I also bought a big flat 1.1/8" drill bit(a little bigger than the circumference of the nut). After marking where the brackets would go, I made holes in the siding using the flat drill bit and stuck the nuts in each hole...that way the nuts hit the OSB behind the siding and so they stuck out the same distance, making the bracket hit flush/level against the nuts sticking out. I then made pilot holes into the OSB so the lag bolts would get started. Place the lag bolt and washer into the bracket and then through the center of the nut sticking out of the siding and tighten lag bolt and bracket into place. I used a little silicon around the nuts just to keep any water out. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, I can try to answer them as I see them pop up in my email. ... show more

  • Beautiful and easy installation
The instructions are straight forward and easy to understand. I paid a professional $100 to install and the job was done in under an hour. You will need two people and two ladders in order to mount on onto the base. This 12'x8' awning has given me more useable patio space and looks absolutely beautiful. I ordered the dark blue, which provides the shade I needed. It's everything it's advertised to be. ... show more

  • Revised review, under pressure
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! This awning was delivered on May 13th 2020, with an extended warranty. For approximately 1 month now I’ve been corresponding with the company due to fading. After sending in pictures and complaints, Diensweek response is a $80 compensation and a suggesting to paint awning with fade resistant product. I am very disappointed in the service, as to start off I had a previous delivery date, with a no call, no show. Took time off from work for the delivery. Again had to take off when the actual delivery came. The process of sending pictures was not smooth, however after sending several times, they stated that they finally received them. This product advertised being sun/fad resistant, as seen in pictures after 4 months, this is not the case. Correspondence with Diensweek A promise of sending me the replacement fabric, as long as I change my review. I stated I would be happy to revise my rating, when I they followed through with their promise. Unfortunately they stated they wouldn’t until I change my review Not very good customer service I would think they would be happy to do what it takes to solve this issue regardless I have been corresponding all this time what makes them think I wouldn’t thank them for doing the right thing especially because it’s still under warranty. I will state they credited my account $100. Which is nice of them, however I want the replacement awning. ... show more

  • Faded quickly
This unit was purchased because it came assembled and ready to install. That part was quite good. The fabric was dark blue (didnt have a choice) and it faed considerably in just a couple of months. Yes, I am in Florida but the fabric looks many years old after a couple months.

  • Rusted & Loud Squeaks
The media could not be loaded. Loved the price, look and sturdy installation hardware when it arrived. But less than 6 months after buying this awning from Amazon, the wires rusted (see pic) and now, it squeaks loudly (see video) to the point that I’m too embarrassed to open it anymore. I wish it had better insulation on the wires so this didn’t happen. ... show more
