Edit 4/29/26: Since my review April 9, 2025, the manufacturer has given me the opportunity to try out the UPDATED, SMALLER, AND MORE USER-FRIENDLY Cearvol Wave OTC hearing aids. I am blown away by the difference! The hearing aids come with several different tips that simply twist into the ear canal. They are soft, supple and easy to use. They pop off with ease for cleaning too. The weight of these new and improved hearing aids is night-and-day compared to the other ones. Though I can feel them in my ears they do not feel like they're going to fall out or that they need constant adjustment to be comfortable. These new Cearvol Wave also offers an all-in-one CASE control so I do not need to use my phone to download a difficult-to-maneuver app. HOWEVER, they also connect via bluetooth to my phone IF I SO CHOOSE. Many folks don't have a smart phone or don't want the hassle of trying to connect their hearing aids to a smart phone. No problem. The case is really all you need to charge the hearing aids and, if you need to, adjust to volume. I'm much happier with these new CEARVOL WAVE OTC hearing aids! Thank you Cearvol these are MUCH easier to use and your customer support is OUTSTANDING! ------------------------------------------------------ Review 4/8/26 (older model): I really wanted these OTC hearing aids to work so I'd have a back-up to my prescription hearing aids, but they did not fare so well. First of all, I had to download the app which was quick but led me in circles with the setup process. I had a terrible time figuring out how to sync them to my iphone. Hint: take them out of the case. Perhaps ear buds work this way but since I have actual hearing aids I don't own ear buds, and the instructions did not say to take them out of the case, so that's 45 minutes of my life wasted to frustration. OK, so now they're synced with my phone. Next step is learning how to use the screen on the case. It's not difficult but, again, the instructions and app are not clear. It was mostly trial and error. Then I tried putting them in my ears. The set DOES come with different size tips. I know I have small ear canals so I tried the smallest then the next size up, those seemed to work best for me. BUT putting them in my ears and keeping them in was a whole new ball game. The hearing aids don't loop over the top of your ear like most prescription hearing aids, they sit in the ear "bowl" (for lack of a better term) and they are HEAVY and UNCOMFORTABLE to wear for any length of time. They have to be twisted back and forth to get them in and they need to be positioned correctly once inside the ear for them to stay put. Please note there is a RIGHT and LEFT so make sure you get them in the correct ear. Because of the weight and bulkiness they are uncomfortable and even fall out after wearing them for a short period of time. Now with that said; Do they amplify sound? Yes, and they have 3 different levels of amplification, which is nice. I could clearly hear the TV from the next room, and I could hear the leaves rustling in the wind when I wore them outside. So, they DO work. All in all, these hearing aids work and they cost much (MUCH) less than prescription hearing aids, BUT they are not user friendly. If you're of a "mature" age and need a less expensive solution to hearing loss these OTC hearing aids may be the right option for you. I suggest, though, that if your hands and fingers are not agile, if you are sensitive to weight in your ear canals, or you struggle with technology, it would be beneficial to get someone to help you with these hearing aids in the beginning. ALL hearing aids take some getting used to and these are no exception. I think over time I would adjust to wearing them but for now I'll stick with my prescription hearing aids.

I ordered the Cearvol Wave OTC hearing aids after looking for something that didn’t feel overly complicated or outdated, and these have been a strong upgrade in both usability and overall experience. From the start, they feel like a more modern approach to hearing support rather than something clinical or difficult to manage. The setup process is straightforward and doesn’t require a steep learning curve. The touchscreen controls are one of the standout features. Instead of dealing with tiny buttons or confusing sequences, everything feels more intuitive and responsive. Adjusting volume or switching modes can be done quickly without fumbling, which makes a big difference in daily use. Sound quality is clear and balanced, especially for mild to moderate hearing loss. Voices come through more naturally, and background noise is handled better than expected. It doesn’t completely eliminate environmental noise, but it does a good job of reducing the overwhelming effect you sometimes get in crowded spaces. Conversations feel easier to follow without needing to constantly ask people to repeat themselves. The Bluetooth functionality adds another layer of convenience. The finish holds up well and doesn’t show wear easily. For the price, the value is strong. You’re getting a combination of modern features, ease of use, and dependable performance without stepping into the much higher cost range of traditional hearing aids. These work well for everyday situations and provide a noticeable improvement in clarity and convenience without overcomplicating things.
