I really love this organic espresso. We have a Breville Expresso maker with grinder (now over 10 years old and still loving it) and this makes a truly great espresso when ground and brewed in one shot. It has a complex, deep and satisfying flavor and has a very clean mouth feel and taste. This last point is important because many coffees are too heavily processed and end up with a chemical residual taste or feel. I think DD is guilty of this. If you are a regular decaf espresso drinker, you know that finding a good decaf espresso that has full body is not always easy. This one does not disappoint and it's organic beans and decaf process ensures a natural experience. Have also gifted this to others who also felt similarly about it. Flavor Name: DECAF Hurricane Espresso Roast
This is the top five best Decaf coffees I've ever tasted even among those I've roasted with my home roaster. This coffee is permanently on my Subscribe and Save list. For this lot, the most dominant taste is a rich, creamy, chocolate full-bodied taste. There is not a hint of tartness. Smooth as real 100 percent Kona, Jamaican Blue, or Peets New Guinea Highland. The coffee is naturally sweet, which speaks to the perfection of the roast. NO burnt or imperfectly roasted beans. I set my grinder to a few clicks finer than what is normal for a drip coffee maker. I brewed this coffee using the "Gold Setting" of my Breville Precision Thermal Coffee Maker. I used 7 grams less than what Breville recommends. Everyone needs an exceptional decaf in the house for after-dinner desserts and sipping by the fireplace or campfire. You will not be disappointed. Wow! What a find! ... show more

I miss the kick that that traditional coffee offers but this decaf offers the 'process' of making delicious smelling coffee in the morning that tastes amazing as well without the spike and crash of the fully loaded brew. Tastes fresh even towards the end of the bag and multiple people have commented on how delicious it is! I recently discovered that traditional coffee is steeped in synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides so switched to organic. Flavor Name: Sumatra Mandheling
Changed from 3 to 4 stars because I'm stupid and this stuff is a little better than I thought. I didn't realize it was a medium/light roast and tried to make it like a dark roast, so it tasted flat. After adding another 10g to the grinder, grinding it a little bit finer, and steeping for 10 minutes instead of 6, it made a pretty good cup of coffee. Not the best, but it's okay. Still, unless you do this it just tastes like ordinary ol' coffee - not bad, but there's nothing distinctively Sumatran about it. For the price I guess it's okay, and I'm sure they weren't trying to pass this off as the best quality on the market, but you can get better Sumatran coffee. Dancing Moon, for example. When it comes to Sumatran why would you want anything less than a dark roast, anyway? The distinctive flavor just isn't there without it, unless you really gob it into your press, that is, but that's just a waste of coffee... and money, so you might as well just buy the more expensive stuff right from the get-go, use less of it, and get more enjoyment out of it. ... show more

    • Great value, no added chemicals!

With the cost of food getting so crazy this is still a great value and I like it, I like strong coffee. After i wrote my first review I saw a article about Methylene Chloride used to remove the caffeine in decaffeinated coffees. The article said EVEN!! Swiss water processed used this chemical. There was a list of company's coffees they tested and if they have Methylene Chloride an active ingredient in paint stripper that was recently banned by the EPA. However, the FDA currently allows methylene chloride to be used in the coffee decaffeination process and brands are not even required to disclose the decaffeination process on their label or not. This company's other decaf (gorilla) was in the article and no Methylene Chloride was deceted. After reading this I called the company and asked about the Hurricane Espresso Rost and they said they never use any chemicals or Methylene Chloride in any process only water WHEW! So while I cannot speak for all decafs, decaf drinker drink safely :) This has been and will continue to be my go to coffee! Priced well, yummy and chemical free :) ... show more

This coffee is smooth, full flavored, roasted perfectly. My favorite so far. I've been testing different brands for a while now. I prefer a light or breakfast blend. Being organic was a bonus.

    • Tastes burnt, but watery?
Flavor Name: DECAF Hurricane Espresso Roast
I'm assuming I got a bad bag, because most of these reviews can't be talking about the same stuff I received. I waited a couple weeks to open while I finished off the rest of the other coffee I had, but I wish I hadn't. Upon opening they seemed very, very dry and brittle, but figured I'd give it a go anyway. After grinding them up, I made a couple cups in my regular drip coffee maker. It was extremely weak and watery, but burnt tasting. I decided to try again, with a little more grounds. All that did was enhance the burnt flavor, and it still was very translucent and nowhere near a 'dark roast'. I also tried grinding some up a little courser and making cold brew. It was awful, the burnt taste so strong it tasted more like an ashtray than coffee. I threw out the bag they came in since it wasn't resealable, but I know the roast date and expiration date weren't anything too ridiculous or I wouldn't have even opened it. I'm not sure how to reach out to the seller, or that they even would do anything about it since it's been over a month since I bought them. Even though I'm guessing it's just a bad batch, I probably won't be trying them again. ... show more
