Will Atom One help with severe hearing loss? Under FDA rules, our OTC hearing aids—including Atom One—are for mild to moderate loss, not severe. If loss is severe, see a hearing professional. Atom One covers talk, TV, and calls; Atom X and ION Pro 2 add noise cancelling and app control. How do I get the fullest sound and volume? Start with the volume and frequency dials at their lowest. Turn volume up to a comfortable loudness, then turn frequency up until speech is clear but not tinny. A good dome seal matters too—try each size until sound is rich with no whistling. Why do they whistle or squeal? Whistling (feedback) almost always means the dome isn't sealed—push it in until snug or move up a size. If it continues, lower the volume slightly and check your ears for wax, which reflects sound back out. It's a fit issue, not a defect. They feel too big or fall out. To insert them, pull your ear up and back with one hand and insert the device with the other so it sits fully in the ear canal. Wow! This was ordered on Friday and delivered on Saturday morning! I had paid $5000 for my previous hearing aids that didn’t work worth cr@p and had so many arguments because my husband couldn’t believe that I couldn’t hear him. These were less than $100! Once these were charged up and inserted, I couldn’t believe the clarity. I could finally hear! I really liked being able to brush my hair without the large hearing aids falling out! These are so comfortable and easy to use! They fit snuggly into the ear canal and are lightweight. I actually needed to turn the volume down because they are a bit loud! Highly recommended!

I've used very expensive Oticon BTE hearing aids for 10 years and decided to go to the low end of the market for a try. On receiving Atom One I read directions etc. and started using the with the largest silicone ear adapter provided with both volume and frequency settings at the low point. Squealing feedback (very uncomfortable) was the problem - big ear canals, too big for the largest adapter provided. So, ordered the largest silicon adapters possible from different source and voila, no more squealing and good haring results. Took a while but I didn't give up. They are my daily go-to now which says something from an experienced hearing aid person. Suggest use adapters that definitely fit snugly in your ears to eliminate squeal feedback. Not a waste of money at all just be patient with yourself getting used to them. I charge mine daily to assure full day's use.

I am amazed at the sound quality of these hearing aids. I am very happy with my purchase. I was able to hear more easily the people in my life who I think talk quietly. I don’t have to ask them to repeat as often. I can have the car radio volume lower and hear it well. The sound quality is good, not tinny. They are easy to insert and remove and so far they stay put. The battery life seems plenty long for my use. The volume and frequency can be adjusted. They come with various sizes of plastic ear domes. Their charging case and maintenance are convenient and not complicated. Audien has proactive customer service. A few days after delivery, Carlo from Audien called to find out how my experience has been using Atom One. I think if I had issues, Audien would give me a credit toward more expensive and newer versions but for now I am happy with what I have. I had the usual good purchase experience and delivery with Amazon. The listing had a $10 Amazon coupon. The Atom One is a worthwhile expense for me to see if hearing aids would be comfortable for me and would make a difference. A few days after delivery, there was a 20% Amazon discount and the only way Amazon would have given me the price adjustment was if I returned the aids I received and ordered new ones using the better discount. That seemed short-sighted given that: the items had been in my ears; I wanted to keep them; and Amazon would have to pay for return shipping. But that is Amazon’s policy. I didn’t return and reorder. I have mild hearing loss due to age/damage, not fluid buildup, and for me the Atom One hearing aids are a great quality and low-cost option.

This is the third set of Audien Atom hearing aids that I have purchased. I only need an amplifier, and these have fit the bill quite nicely. The first set finally died and wouldn't work, principally because the battery in one of them would no longer charge. Still have the second pair and are quite functional. I just don't like how you have to adjust the volume. This set, though, is much simpler to use. What's really nice you can set it for not only volume but tone also. a great improvement. And OMG! the battery life is exceptional. I work a 12 hour shift, and these exceed the 12 hours by a long shot! Of the ones that I have had, I think this pair is by far the best. Update: one of them stopped working less than a month after receiving them. So disappointed. They were working so well and one just died. Replaced wax protector and recharged. Still dead. Sent the receipt to Audien, and they said that they couldn’t verify the receipt. Fortunately, i was within the 30 day return window at Amazon. So back they went.

I've been using Earcentric hearing aids for 3 years, but because they fit over and behind the ears it's difficult to wear winter hats. Here in the Pacific Northwest hats are essential. So I decided to try the Audien Atom One. On the plus side I can now wear my hats and they are definitely more comfortable than Earcentric's. Also the frequency adjustment feature is not available on Earcentric hearing aids and I find it very helpful in understanding what is being said. On the minus side the volume doesn't reach as high. These will work for mild hearing loss, but not for moderate. You have to keep putting the hearing aids in and out in order to adjust the volume and frequency, and you have to use a tool to adjust them. And I find the pull wires both unnecessary and annoying. They stick out when you are wearing the hearing aids and make me feel like a Martian with antennas. But that's just me. They may not bother anyone else. In summary I will probably only wear these during the months that require hats and only when I go out. I'll bring my Earcentrics along if I intend to remove my hat indoors. UPDATE: Audien responded to my review by offering me a chance to try Audien Atom Pro 2 hearing aids for free. They describe them as a better option with higher volume. I have accepted their offer and I will update this review after trying them out. I have to say that I am impressed with the quick response and generous offer this company has made and I'm truly hoping that the Pro 2 hearing aids work for me. 2nd UPDATE: I am so impressed with the Audien Atom Pro 2. PROS: There are 5 volume levels. I am currently using level 2. The hearing is clear and distinct. There are 4 modes to use depending on your surroundings and they are definitely a plus. The charge lasts for 48 hours. If you're traveling this can be convenient. Also the charging case will give you 4 charges before needing to charge it. The hearing aids are small and somewhat discreet. That's something we women value. They are small enough that they don't interfere with my winter hats since they are worn in the ear, not behind the ear. The general maintenance is easy and takes very little time. And most importantly customer support is incredible. They offer YouTube tutorials and video conferencing. CONS: The volume and mode button is next to the pull wire. With my arthritic hands it is a bit difficult to insert the hearing aid without accidentally touching the button. This causes the volume and mode to keep changing as I put the hearing aid on and I have to reprogram it. There is only 4 seconds after removing the hearing aid from the charging case before it turns on so sometimes when inserting it into my ear the volume gets accidentally increased to its highest level and hurts my ear. As I get used to using them I hope I'll be more adept at avoiding this problem. And finally I still am not fond of the pull wires but I can live with that. In summation I am pleased overall with these hearing aids. They are much better than the Earcentric hearing aids that I have used for 3 years.

If you suffer from mild hearing loss looking for a little boost, these are fine. They are easily adjustable (manually with a small screwdriver) for volume and frequency. They are also CHEAP... as in inexpensive. For those with limited needs and occasional use, these are just fine. However... They are not high-quality hearing aids... These are the equivalent of buying reading glasses at the drugstore. The major downside is that they are too large and very uncomfortable for extended use. Use them for certain times like watching TV or in a meeting, but not as a daily wear type of hearing aid. I give them 3 stars as they do a certain job.

I love the clarity of these hearing aids and the size. They are comfortable and fit well with the extra tips. The one problem I have with them is I have been unable to reduce the volume with the small dials. They do not turn. Any help with this would be appreciated. Other than that I am happy with them.
