  • Chill out and take your time learning to use these
I have mild hearing loss in both ears at a fairly young age, because of the punk scene lol. Now, in my left ear I cannot hear a certain range of tones which makes hearing women's voices especially difficult. But these hearing amplifiers are good nuff for me. They don't adjust pitch or anything like that, but they amplify the sound enough that I can hear higher pitched sounds again. So much so, that I already plan to buy a backup pair for emergencies. I don't want to go back to missing out on so much. Birds, music, being able to hear the conversation at dinner, my children's whispered voices, our cat making that eek eek eek sound when he sees a bird outside. I didn't even realize they had gone. I guess ya just don't notice because it's so gradual. Anyhow, that being said, I gotta let you know that I have no idea what a $5000 pair of hearing aids sound like, so I have no basis for comparison, but the sound on this lil guys seem great. Sure it's going to sound DIFFERENT.... seeing as how you've got a cyborg ear now, but overall it's not very tinny unless you turn it all the way up. And really important.... Take your good ole sweet time figuring out which size bell you need and which volume level you need. And that goes for both ears. Take your time to adjust your volume during the few hours a day you wear them at first For example, it took about a week for me to learn my left ear canal is smaller that my right. But thankfully by then I'd learned which volume levels work for me, so that's good. It's alot to get used to. Seriously. There's sound coming at you.... all the SUDDEN.... from all directions. I swear my fridge is like BREATHING or SOMETHING. Also, the traffic in front of my house is now a freight train. I can at long last, hear the dog chewing her butt again. And lastly, definitely practice driving somewhere safe until your brain is accustomed to things like cars with no mufflers and road noise again. ... show more

These hearing amplifiers are hard to program because they are so small. I, for one, don't care if they are visible. My old defunct ones were small enough to be comfortable and easy to adjust for olume while they were in my ears. This business of having to use a tiny screw driver to turn a tiny screw that you can barely see is ridiculous. Also, they don’t give you two of each dome, so.....you get the idea. ... show more

  • Update...
I have worn them for two weeks. Unfortunately I cannot discern any noise cancelling function although the advertisement on Amazon states there is noise cancelling. Every sound is amplified so when I'm in a place with multiple sound origins human speech is the least heard sound. Not OK.

  • May be better for profound hearing loss; over-kill if you just need an amplifier
I have used an Otofonix Elite behind-the-ear amplifier for a few years. I like the sound quality and comfort, but it's a bit annoying to have to change the battery every 6 days, and the piece that fits inside the ear needs to be replaced once or twice a year. This iBstone Rechargeable Hearing Amplifier was reasonably priced, and seemed to solve those two problems. But the additional problem is that the iBstone Rechargeable Hearing Amplifier fits completely inside the ear, which is very isolating because everything sounds synthetic rather than natural. But even worse, it can't be used with a telephone due to the screetching feedback when the phone is placed near the ear. In fact, there was screetching feedback any time I put the Amplifier in, took it out, scratched my ear, etc. It may be the only alternative for someone with profound hearing loss, but for someone who justs needs a little amplification, it wasn't worth the trade-off. If I had no other alternative I might be more positive, but the Otofonix Elite suits my needs much better. Fortunately, the seller offered a full refund, so there was no harm in trying. If you already have an in-ear hearing aid, this might be something to consider. ... show more

  • Works for me!
Works for me 90% of the time... But I'm not throwing away my expen$ive ReSound BTE! On-off switch needs some work, imo. Could be raised up a bit more for better/easier accessibility. Requires reading glasses. However, with that said, I highly recommend the product. WAY more comfortable than my clunky BTE, which are true bummers if you wear glasses and more so if you add a baseball cap. ... show more

  • My hearing amplifier
There should be variation in sizes. It's sticking out as I'm petite Asian and was intended for big Caucasian men

  • Not for small ear canals
I bought two pairs to tide me over until I either get my expensive aids repaired, or buy a new $4k pair. In the meantime, these are worth the money, and with these and Apple Airpods Pro in transparency mode, I'm not out of tricks. I have small ear canals and these are just a tad too big for my ears to be completely comfortable, but I can wear them and often forget I have them on. I have mild upper-end hearing loss which can affect my understanding of speech from some people at low volume, but my word recognition score is still 100% and I did not wear anything once the pandemic started cuz masks made it quite irritating to wear the BTE model I have. However, I'm not in denial about my hearing loss and I will ultimately do whatever I can to improve my hearing. These are only temporary and they do help. I want to point out that for Apple users, the Airpods Pro are pretty good for general hearing amplification in transparency mode, and excellent for amplification of sound from Apple devices, such as music, song lyrics, and movie soundtracks. With the Airpods Pro, I seldom use CC. ... show more
