I have been cleaning carpet for 30 years and one thing that I have learned is that to have the right tool for the right job!!! I have 4 different carpet wands - 3 different vacuums , they all have a different purpose. This Sanitaire is a beast I like to use it on flat glue down carpet. Mainly super long apartment hallways. It’s a time saver. The most important thing to remember is the front height adjustment- you will burn through the rubber belts if it’s grabbing the carpet too much- just pay attention. Just remember it’s a vacuum not a pile lifter - if it is lifting the rug raise it up a notch, real easy. It’s a real nice beastly boy!!! I purchased two of these vacuums for my small business. Within the first three months the plastic cord keeper broke, the metal plate on the bottom holding the roller in place falls-off constantly, the cord is extremely twisted and the vacuum emits a horrible burned rubber smell. I previously purchased 2 Oreck Xls, a Hoover backpack vacuum, Dyson Animal and Shark Navigator for my business of these only the Shark Navigator (the cheapest of the vacuums) continues to work well. Very disappointed --I expected much much more from a $350+ vacuum. Instead it was the worst purchase I made for my business in 2022. ... show more

got a refurbished one that was in "used-very good" condition. The motor sounded like a car engine with no headers. Removed the cover and found many broken plastic parts. returned for exchange. hopefully the new one will be better and this was just an oversight.

Was disappointed that this vac didn`t come with an F& G bag option, shake out bags are very dirty. To use you end up a lot of dust and dirty on yourself when shaking out the bag.
