  • Mild to moderate hearing loss, they work great. More severe, they might not make a dent.
I like a lot of things about these. They were not for me but for another person in the household. His hearing is quite bad, really -- tv volume to 100% but also closed captions because 100% is enough to melt my face but not enough for him. Bear this knowledge in mind for the rest of the review. I was hoping the aids would allow him to turn the television down some, but that's not the case. He can't turn it down and still hear it, but the captions becamse much less necessary for him to keep up with the program. They're discreet in size. What goes into the ear is very small, so the tips you can add can really compact down if you have small ear canals (as I do). The part with the battery loops over your ear. The clear thin tubing that connects the ear-bud and the aide is flexible and rests over your ear so that the device is behind your ear. If you wear glasses, this might take some getting used to. My own glasses are the thick, nerdy variety, so the space behind my ear is tight. I can wear them comfortably together, but it is something that requires some fortitude at first for me -- I have difficulty with different tactile situations, and my ears are sensitive. Not a deal breaker at all for me, but if you have someone who has sensory difficulties, it might take some work to get them acclimated. Solid product. I'm giving it 5 stars, they say for mild to moderate hearing loss and that's what these are great for. If they were to make them a bit more powerful, I don't think anyone would complain. Do people really actually know how bad their hearing loss is? I mean, outside of the extreme end of the spectrum, could you tell the difference between high moderate and a lower level of significant loss? I don't know that I could. ... show more

  • So far so good
First thing I noticed is that even as someone with well functioning hands and strength the case is NOT easy to open. A small latch, smooth surface, and relatively small it looks great and can easily be carried about but may need adjustments for the user in question. Set up itself was super easy. Basically none! After a charge they're ready to go and as long as you understand bluetooth on a cellphone it connects like any standard set of headphones. The whistling of them being poorly inserted is obvious so you can adjust there. For this cost though I wish they provided more plug sizes. Not even the standard small, medium, and large is included only two choices. I've yet to figure out if the white noise I hear is from a misfit or the device itself. And that's the main complaint, white noise! It's faint and VERY different from the whistling that indicates that the earpiece isn't in correctly. These are my first hearing aids though so that may be a standard problem with this method of hearing correction. I need to do more research to try and figure it out but no luck fixing it yet. It does occur both paired and unpaired to a phone. I'm also surprised at the lack of app. Just something simple to make finer adjustments would be nice but I don't think these actually have anything fancy aside from a volume slider. The different hearing environments just seem to boost or decrease the volume rather than you manually dialing. I'm uncertain there as the manual doesn't explicitly state how the hearing aids are adjusted for each environment. To MY ears it's just volume but my hearing issues are minor. VERY comfortable! Solidly built, not at all flimsy. While not completely comprehensive they feel like a good starting point, especially if you just want to see if hearing aids are something you can keep up with or even like at all. ... show more

  • Better than other OTC heading aids
So I got tired of people telling me I'm deaf and missing out on stories because I simply couldn't hear what people were saying. I didn't want to have to go to the doctor and then go for a hearing test and pay the outrageous price for hearing aids. So I figured I would give these a try. It paid off because I love these hearing aids. I had tried another pair that just sit in your ears thinking they would be a lower profile but they were not at all and they fell out and didn't work. These work great, stay in your ears and actually are lower profile then the ones that just sit in the ears. There are a few things I love about these. They have two features that help them stay in place, One is that part of them goes behind the ear and the other is that they have little stabilizer "bars" that curl up into your ear and you can't even feel them. They have 4 different modes and I especially like that they have a mode specifically for when there is a lot of background noise. That was the problem with the cheaper sit in my ear ones, they didn't have that mode and if it was loud I would have to turn them up which just amplified the background noise as well so it didn't work for me. The last thing that sells me on these is the fact that I can turn them on or off, volume up or down or change modes without having to remove them because the controls are all located on the part that sits behind the ear. These are amazing hearing aids, work extraordinarily well, are convenient, stay in place and are an easy solution to my hard of hearing problem. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Not bad but not the greatest
I got this for my grandpa who has a hard time hearing. According to him, the earpiece that this product comes in just too small for him, he needed something bigger. The volume also isn't loud enough even on the loudest setting. However, the design is spot on, the controls are easy to reach and the charging case is well made. The mic direction could be better, it's placed on the top of the unit on the backside of the ear. The case can be charged via mini usb cable, and it charges pretty quickly. This product maybe good for someone who doesn't have severe hearing lost and just need some help amplifying the surrounding sounds. ... show more

  • Complicated
It's really complicated to use and it is uncomfortable. After finally getting both sides to work it only amplified background noises and drowned out sounds of actual talking.
