They definitely do amplify sound. They are not uncomfortable. These are amplification only devices. The only adjustment is for volume. You will hear yourself speak. Haven't experienced much feedback noise at all. The only thing Phonak is a tiny paper sticker placed over another name on the side of the boxtop. The charging instructions say five to six hours, but a sticker on the charger recommended 12 hours for the initial charge. Day one review....... update.....moved up to four stars. For anyone suffering from age related hearing loss, this is a cost effective place to start exploring. Great for backup for when preminium aids are in for repair and when doing yardwork etc. I can see where the simplicity could work well for people who just want a point and shoot product.
