  • Works as advertised, easy to set up app, and convenient.
Size: 16 Amp
This item works as intended. It does exactly what it is advertised to do it is easy to set up and plugs into a 110 or a 220 volt outlet. It comes with both cords. I use it primarily on 110 V and it charges at a slow rate of 1.4 kW per hour and at 12 amps. It takes a long time to charge your car you get about 2 mph so if you leave it in overnight you wind up with 16 to 24 miles of range charging it on a 110 plug at 12 to 14 Amps. I use it primarily when I am at a place with no near by tesla or ccs charger. It helps top off the car while you sleep. For the price it is very good, does what it should and would work after on a 220 volt plug. The app is easy to use once you get it sorted through the App Store. The brain of the charger needs to have access to wifi to communicate with the app. The app shows you charge status, and gives you access to program a start time, end time, manually start or stop charging and shows you status. It has a long, seemingly very durable, relatively flexible cable (25 feet long plus 3 feet at the wall outlet). For the money it is an excellent item. NOTE: to use it on a tesla you will need a ccs J1774 to nac (tesla) plug, sold on Amazon. I reviewed a good inexpensive one, check it out. ... show more

  • Long cable, reliable charging (so far)
Size: 16 Amp
I initially bought this charger as a "used" item from Amazon. I've had good results with those before, but this one arrived missing the 120V plug adapter and the carrying case, and after I bought a replacement adapter, it never managed to start a charge successfully. The status LED would blink amber, indicating it was charging, but would stop after 60 seconds and no charge was actually delivered. The company tech support were polite but ultimately unhelpful. After several days, they offered to replace the item for free (shipping time 10-15 days), but by then I had initiated a return to Amazon. I used the refund to order a new one (shipping time two days), and that has been everything I was hoping for. The 28-foot cable is perfect for the distance from my outlet to the charging port on the car - I don't have to back into the driveway any more to make the shorter cable reach - and it reliably charges at a little under 1.4 kW with the current set to 13 amps. The phone app lets me monitor the real-time charging and keeps a log of my last few charging sessions. I'm very happy with it so far. [Update 10/2025: I had a 240V 20A socket installed and set the amperage to 16A, and it now charges at 3.7 kW. Everything continues to work great, and I couldn't be happier. Excellent value.] ... show more

  • Mine failed within three months
Size: 16 Amp
Worked fine for a few months, then stopped working completely (used only indoors in a parking garage, no trauma to the unit). The manufacturer, Vevor, alleges a 12-month warranty on their products, but when I reached out to them to try and get a replacement they requested repeatedly that I send them a video of the cord not working (which I sent them, 3 times). After a week of hearing that someone will respond within 48 to 72 hours their ultimate solution was I should take apart the charger and look for loose cables. When I responded that I was uncomfortable doing that, and further, that action would surely void the "warranty" AND that I am not a qualified electrical repair technician even if I did somehow find something disconnected, they said there was nothing they could do until I tried to take it apart and report my findings back to their "technical department". Again, I was not looking for a refund, just a replacement cord. Absolutely ridiculous. Look elsewhere, this company does not back up their products. ... show more

  • Longest cable available. Some hints to get around annoyances
Size: 16 Amp
I've had this charger for over a year. It works reliably well and it has the longest cable of all the plug-in type chargers I've found. So a few hints - 1. if you pair this to the app, it will go into a mode where you have to turn it on in the app before it starts charging. Super annoying. Fortunately, Vevor customer support gave the solution to this - "Please press the ‘A’ button for 5s after unplugging the charging gun to switch to plug-and-play mode, no need to start charging through the app." That worked and it was back to the same automatic charging as before 2. The A and R buttons on the front are active. Not obvious because there is no touch feedback at all that indicates they are pressable. You need to press them to pair to the app (see manual for steps). However, even if you don't need the app, it's easy to accidentally press the buttons if you ever fuss with it. It becomes an issue if it changes how much current it draws. If it gets to be higher than what your circuit will allow, the device will not charge your car. If it's lower than what your circuit will allow then it's too slow. There is no indication on the device on what mode it is on. I check the app for the mode and set it there. Otherwise, check the manual for which button to set it to the right mode. 3. The "brains" of the charging unit plus the long cable are heavy vs other units so it will pull on the plug that attaches to the wall. I ended up wedging the main unit against the wall and the floor to remove the pull on the plug. All that said, I really really like the unit and it's been super reliable. Hopefully the learnings above help you out if you ever hit those issues. ... show more

  • Seems to work well. I like the added features.
Size: 16 Amp
Mostly positive: * I thought I wasn't going to be able to get it to connect to my phone, but it just magically started working after fiddling with it and going through the same steps a few times. Instructions aren't all that clear, but it does work. * I wired a dedicated 120v, 20 amp circuit with all new 12 gauge wire comming from a 6 gauge to the sub pannel. It charged at 8amp, same as the stock charger. I was hoping it would pull more than 8 amps, since this circuit can take it, but it won't. My voltage drops by 1v (about 1%) where as I think I read it wasn't supposed to start throttling the current until a 10% drop. * I installed a 240v circuit using all 6 and 8 gauge wire. It changed at 13amps and again dropped about volt (1/2 of a percent). I inspected my line while it was charging and found one connector which was a little bit warm, but not exceedingly so. I took it apart and found the screws weren't totally tight. I tightened them down and it now charges at 15amps and the connection stays cool. That's about 3.6kw which isn't bad, though I was hoping for more. The stock 120v charger would do a full charge in 6hrs, and this does it in 2hr, 10mins. * I don't trust the cord connection to be totally water proof, so out of an abundance of caution I caulked the connections; that's the white you see in the picture. * The longer cord is really nice, and it seems to be a heavy gauge, though it doesn't specify. I know some other brands use 14 gauge in some places (particularly the short outlet-to-transformer cable), but hopefully (and possibly) this one is at least 12. * I have an energy monitor for my whole house, and the KW usage shown by this charger does agree with my house's reading. * I used it at 120v for a week. Have only used it at 240v for a day, so I can't speak to the longevity. Update: have used it for a few weeks now, and everything still works fine. Really liking it. It's relatively cool now so we will see how it performs in the summer heat, but so far so good. * For the other reviewer complaining that this isn't a level 2 charger even when at 240v, and it's false advertising; I say to do your homework. This is a level 2 charger. It's the lowest end of level 2 chargers, at a rated 16amp, but it's still a level 2 charger. Level 2 chargers can go as high as 80amps, though 16, 32, and 40 are most common. For my 8.8kw plugin hybrid this charger is just fine, and it operates at well under my house wiring's limit. It's accurally a benifit that it doesn't charge faster and pull more current, as I don't have to upgrade my entire house's wiring. So there is a place for this type of charger. For your fully electric vehicle, yes, this is probably going to be slower than you want. That's not the fault of this charger; it does what it's intended, it is a true level two charger, and it has it's place even it it's not well suited for your needs. ... show more

  • Nice overall BUT does NOT have scheduled charging!
Size: 16 Amp
It's a decent charger overall, seems well built, strong long cable and charges at a decent rate too BUT the main reason I bought this charger, and why I knocked 2 while stars off, is that it DOES NOT HAVE SCHEDULED CHARGING via the app (Smart life, which is meh anyway) the ONLY thing it allows you to do is a one-off delay of charging. So you can say "don't charge now, charge in 4 hours". This means you CANNOT set it to "charge every Monday to Friday from 11pm to 6am" for example. The delayed charging (which they falsely call Scheduled Charging) is NOT available. It's a pity as this seems to be a simple app update to do it. If they improve the app to allow schedules charging, it would be a 5 star product but DO NOT BUY if you need to set up time based scheduled charging. ... show more

  • Good features, reliable, seems solid.
Size: 16 Amp
Great lil' flexible charger. I've had 3 tesla, and a Ford Lightning. Can't count how many chargers. The web app works well, you can throttle the charge rate, or setup time of day. Inexpensive for the features, and works reliably. I've used it several months now. There are more powerful chargers, but I need one that can be varied amps for some locations where I charge or the breaker will pop. Lightning does not have a charge limit control like on Tesla, so have to do that via the charger. Many portable chargers can not be controlled as readily. For the larger fixed house charger, I use a Emporia 50amp, with a Vue solar smart meter on my main panel with solar demand controls. ... show more

  • Set current using app before connecting the car
Size: 16 Amp
Charges my Chevy Volt at 3.3kW, the car's limit. It's handy because it connects to a 20A 6-20 receptacle, which is pretty common and can be installed easily by upgrading a 20A 120V circuit to 240V (same wire). It's smaller than the stock EVSE and installs easily. The J1772 connector (car side) is good but tight. I worry that it's stuck but it comes off with a good pull. I have not needed to test it in the rain or other adverse condition but it looks waterproof and advertises IP67. The instructions are confusing and written mostly for the fancy unit with the digital screen. This unit has only a couple lights and requires the app to configure it. At first I thought it was limited to 8.5A. It turns out that you can set the charging current to 16A but only when it's not connected to the car. The Volt draws 13.5A. All this configuration is through the Smart Life app. Happy so far, I'll check in if that changes. ... show more
