So far so good. Don’t have a ton of experience with other chargers but this works as advertised. The app is helpful and most important, it’s the charger required by my utility company to take advantage of off peak charging rates. Check with your utility company. Mine gave me a rebate for the full cost of this charger. ... show more

There are a lot of EV home chargers out there, including the ones that are included in the trunk of most Electric Vehicles, so I did my homework before I ultimately decided on this one, and in my opinion, it's the best one on the market. The main reasons I decided on this one are it's flexible power rating, and software. PROS: 1. Flexible Power Rating. You can plug this into a 240 volt power outlet with a choice of two plugs, OR have it hard wired by a professional. You can get more power when it's hard wired and the output can vary depending on the size of your circuit breaker. It can be configured with breakers ranging from 20 to 80 Amps. The higher the Amps, the more power you can draw, giving you more miles of power per hour. Mine is configured with a 60 Amp circuit breaker, so I can get about 37 miles each hour... which is amazing. 2. Software. I LOVE their App because it's easy to configure the charger (plug vs hard wired, amps, make / model of your car, etc.), and it tracks all your charging activity at home AND when using other ChargePoint chargers on the road. Not only that, it even lets you track costs based on your regional electric company and plan. This is IMPORTANT... I learned that most electric companies offer off-peak pricing and their App can schedule your charges after hours when the price drops dramatically. In New York City for example, the price drops from about 25 cents per KWh to 1.6 cents between 12am and 8am. That 8 hour window is plenty of time to fully charge most EVs, so it's literally 15 TIMES CHEAPER. With that in mind, the App can tell you exactly how much you've spent on charging using each pricing plan your electric company offers so you can see the exact amount you saved by switching to time of day billing. 3. I love the MAPS feature. This may sound odd for a home charger, but that's the real advantage of this particular company. They offer a huge network of chargers across the country, and I can use the same exact App to not only track my charging at home and on the road, but I now use the App via Apple CarPlay to find the nearest chargers when I'm on the road. They show you exactly where all their chargers are, but just about every charger network out there, including pricing, power ratings, availability, distance, and directions. 4. EXCELLENT US Customer Service. I had a few questions before I had it installed, so I called their customer service and within a couple of minutes had an great conversation with one of their support people. He understood my questions and answered them clearly. CONS - None, except it's a bit more expensive than some other companies. In my opinion, it's worth every cent. The entire experience has been outstanding. Simply stated, this is a no-brainer. The low power home chargers they include with your EV are really meant for travel, so leave them in your car and get one of these. I felt so great pulling up to my driveway, and simply plugging in. ... show more

  • Not Worth the Hassle
Connector Type Used on Cable: NEMA 14-50 Plug (...
Absolutely awful. Complete waste of my time. I did quite a bit of research before ordering this charger for my new ev at home. It has lots of great features is a solid unit and unlike many others has cable management built in. It's also on Consumer's list of approved units for their rebate. That's pretty much where anything good stops. I'm a very tech savvy guy. Got the original all hooked up and powered on was feeling pretty good about my purchase until I go to set it up. It could not find any, and I truly mean ANY, network. After several hours of trial and error troubleshooting i finally decided I'm not doing anything wrong but let me call customer service just in case. After another hour and half wait to talk to someone I get to talk to someone in a call center in a foreign country that wasn't listening to what I was trying to tell him and was honestly being something that rhymes with gasbat. The only good that came of it was I did everything he wanted me to and did confirm that the wireless communication was defective and sent me email proof. However he did not want me to return it to Amazon, he wanted me to replace it through them directly. To convince me not to return it to Amazon he told me that he would be shipping me a new one that I would receive an email confirmation to just keep using that one until I get the new one. Well I got the email while I was on the phone wasn't entirely happy as I'm only home 2 days a week and had already had it for a few weeks as I was getting the power lines installed which is why I wanted to return it through Amazon because they're fast. Come to find out the email only stated that he confirmed my unit to be defective but never stated anywhere that I was being sent a new unit. In fact the email actually stated my case was being transferred up the chain for management solution and that I would be receiving further contact to resolve the issue. I gave them 5 days and never got another email or phone call so I started the return process. Initially it showed me the usual option of getting a new unit shipped to me immediately at no cost under the agreement that I get the old unit shipped back within a certain time frame. After I selected that option I got a message stating the seller doesn't allow this my only option is to select a refund which can take a few weeks because it won't be processed until they receive it and then immediately purchase a new unit at full retail price while I'm waiting. No other choice available that's what I select. So after I process the return I get yet another message with them trying to get me to keep it for a 10% discount, which is completely out of line as similar chargers without the wifi component go for half the money. Mind you I have purchased this directly through Chargepoint's shop on Amazon not a 3rd party i was very particular to make sure it did that. Well I got the new unit in today got it installed and low and behold wouldn't you know it. Doesn't see or connect to any wifi. I go online yet again just to make triple sure it wasn't me. Not only could i not find anything that worked to solve my issues i found many other people having the exact same problem. At that point I knew I was immediately done with Chargepoint. I heard many good things about Grizzl-e and found a similar unit with all the same features for $200 less, however the particular model i wanted is currently out of stock on Amazon so I bought it directly through their website and have no idea how long it will take to get to my house so I need this unit to charge my car until then. And that's where this review comes in. I go outside to plug my car in tonight and the new unit wouldn't even charge the car. Best i can tell from several reviews i read is that about 3 years ago a bunch of changes went through the company such as the lousy customer service now being overseas and the app drastically going downhill as well as problems with their public chargers and lack of maintenence. It seems if you can get a working unit it's great. I thought the build quality was very good. But the quality control and customer service is absolute trash, stay away. ... show more
