  • There is a lot to like, but two important caveats
Color: Dark Gray
Update 2: it is now possible to use the charger locally. Use the app to add a custom OCPP server. I set one up on home assistant and now have control over availability, charging and current. There are also 10 sensors made available. Update: They eventually sent me a replacement. Although it took a little bit of nudging, the procedure was really good. They sent the replacement before I returned the defective charger, so there was little downtime. Although I needed an electrician to install, it was easy to swap it out myself. Just TURN OFF POWER AT THE BREAKER, confirm that there is no power with a detecteo, and read the instructions for installation. Now everything works great. After a few months of usage, I am really happy with the unit. Since I am using the car charger to control the details, the lack of API on the charger is not much of a limitation. The card security is important, since the charger is outside. So far, weather has been no issue at all. The features are good, and my car reports full amperage (48A). I could connect the app to the charger fine via Bluetooth, and lots of info and control is available. Also, the feature to require a card to turn it on is nice, since the charger is outside. It is holding up well in the weather for the last few weeks. Original review, with a bit more info: The electricians had no difficulty installing it in my brick wall, and installation was cheaper than online research led me to believe. Now the caveats: it sees no WiFi SSIDs. Not mine, and none of the dozen or so of my neighbor's that I can see in my phone. Clearly not working. I spoke with a technician who said that there should be an update soon to fix. We will see. This might be a problem if you wanted some of those features, like charging others to use your charger. It wasn't really for me because of the second annoying caveat. The other caveat is that it does NOT use OCPP api, like the advertisement here says. That means that I cannot integrate it with Home Assistant, which I wanted to do cloud free. Annoying. That means that I cannot optimize charging with solar panels, or lower electricity prices. ... show more

  • Quick charging and easy to use.
Color: Dark Gray
I have had this charger for about six months now. It’s fast charging and works well. The cord length is excellent. Using this thing has been a breeze. We did have an electrician install it. It took him about an hour. Looks good. Highly recommend it.

  • Great charger!
Color: Sierra Blue
Got this charger as soon as we got out first electric car. Was easy to install if you know what you are doing with running electric and basic skills. If not I suggest you hire an electrician. Got it mounted to the side of the house and locked behind the gate. But ran the cord around the front of the house with their separate mount. So far it has been great! No issues and works great at 48amps. The app works good with no issues. The only complaint have is I wish on the app you could just put a percentage that you want to charge your car battery to. Haven't had no issue with it being outside but I live in FL where we are in the dry season currently, so I will update later if I have problems. ... show more

  • Good home charger
Color: Sierra Blue
Love the charger especially the brand offers variety of colors, it works great so far for my hummer EV, I also purchased the charging card separately to make it more convenient, just tap it and it’s done.

  • Solid EVSE
Color: Silver
I read all of the reviews both good and bad before ordering this, it's seems like even the models from well known EVSE makers have negative reviews! I decided to order this mainly because it was on the list of eligible EVSE/s for a rebate from my power company and the price was good and I ended up getting it on sale. (I didn't get the rebate, but that's another story!). The unit arrived quickly and was very well packed. The mounting bracket couldn't have been easier to install and the unit slips right on and is held with a set screw. This unit is very well made. I have had a clipper creek 20 amp EVSE for about 10 years and this is a much better build quality. The only things keeping it from getting a 5 star review is that the little door inside (after you remove the cover) is pretty small for making the wire connections and there isn't room on top to store the cable when not in use. Maybe it's my old arthritic hands, but getting #6 wire in there was not as easy as it should have been if the door had been larger. Speaking of wire, my remodel box was installed by a licensed electrician for my 20 amp Clipper Creek and he said "I ran #8 wire just in case you later want to put in 50 amp service for something like a welder. I had another electrician say #8 is fine for 50 amps because it's such a short run. Well, I originally wired the Autel to the #8 wire with a 60 amp breaker. I charged the car and within just a few minutes everything was getting hot. A few more minutes and the breaker tripped. The next morning I called tech support. After I explained what happened, the first thing he asked me was what size wire I was using. He said this EVSE needs #6 wire. So I changed the wire and this time, no connection in the wall box, just direct run from the breaker to the Autel. Now I can charge at full power and things get warm, but not hot. If you install this do not use wire nuts for any splices, use a clamp and make sure you are using #6 copper wire. I didn't think that I would use the wireless connection, but the app works great and it was simple to connect this to my home wifi network. This Autel is great so far, well built and super easy to set up and use. Others have mentioned about the cable being stiff, and it is, but it is a really thick cable. I bought a wall mount to store the cable. ... show more
