This adapter is the same one BMW sells as the approved adapter. It is heavy and high quality feeling. We had no issues using it at multiple Tesla chargers while taking a road trip. It is a perfect fit for the car and feels like an OEM product. I didn't experience any overheating or issues with using it to charge our BMW I4. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to read the instructions for how to use the interlock, the Tesla Supercharger button, and the vehicle lock. We had best results connecting it to the charger first and then the vehicle. Overall, the functionality is simple, but this is essential if you want to use Tesla stations that do not have the Magic Dock. This is the only adapter to get and the value in it is that it is worth the cost for the flexibility it gives you with charging infrastructure and with the safety rating this adapter has. Currently trying it out at a Tesla supercharger (in an Audi e tron and getting eyeballed by a couple in a tesla...really?). Working as advertised. Getting 133 kw out of 150 max speed for the Audi. Good enough. Adds more locations for me to top off around town. Solid, well made tool. Worth the purchase and a must have in your frunk. when selling a product like this the seller needs to provide a lot more detail. this doesn't work with fast Tesla chargers. to actually use this you need an app to effect the charge. i spent hours sitting at a Tesla fast charge area downloading several apps and even though I was literally parked in an available parking slot to charge, none of the apps recognized the area i was at, even though there were 30 Tesla chargers. i did download the Tesla app but when setting up the account they ask what kind of car you have and none of the options are for a Tesla. so, since the car is not a Tesla all the apps show the nacs charging locations and all of them are extremely slow, like in a motel parking lot, charging at 6 kw. the only way to game the system is to figure out how to get a Tesla car app on your phone that is associated with a Tesla. then I would imagine you could get it to work. but then all the other Tesla owners charging their car would wonder what you're doing there because they know these chargers are exclusively for Tesla owners. there is no point spending the money for an adapter like this for a 6 kw charge. all the non nacs chargers near where I live (20 mile radius) are extremely slow. you might be near one that is a lot faster, but before you spend the money check. otherwise you're stuck with the CCS and the very limited charging options, miles from your home, where you have to wait in line, and finally get to charge at (at an EVgo) 47 kw, which is glacially slow as well ... show more
