This adapter is the same one BMW sells as the approved adapter. It is heavy and high quality feeling. We had no issues using it at multiple Tesla chargers while taking a road trip. It is a perfect fit for the car and feels like an OEM product. I didn't experience any overheating or issues with using it to charge our BMW I4. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to read the instructions for how to use the interlock, the Tesla Supercharger button, and the vehicle lock. We had best results connecting it to the charger first and then the vehicle. Overall, the functionality is simple, but this is essential if you want to use Tesla stations that do not have the Magic Dock. This is the only adapter to get and the value in it is that it is worth the cost for the flexibility it gives you with charging infrastructure and with the safety rating this adapter has. It just works! It’s built like a tank and can probably survive a hard drop w/o issue. Yea it’s more expensive, but Lectron is quality stuff. The other thing is it opens up travel w/o having any anxiety about charging. Tesla has a damn good network, this opens that up to those that don’t have one.

This adapter is about 1/2 an inch shorter than the adapter Hyundai provided, so slightly easier to manipulate and store. The latching mechanisms are easier to operate. Fit and finish seem a little better than the OEM model. It's nice to have the safety listing, although the NRTL file number doesn't appear on the packaging or in the leaflets included. ... show more
