  • very adjustable, but battery life is a problem
Size: Single
I got a pair of these to help with my mild hearing loss and I like that they have a variety of ways to adjust them. A volume control, of course, is one. Also you can set the gain at several different frequencies from 500 Hz to 4 kHz. It also has four compression levels. Finally, you can choose one of four settings for different environments: conversations, restaurants, traffic, and outdoors. Or, you can enter the results of an audiogram for automatic set up. I also like that you can set the gain by using the front of a rocker button and set the environment by using the back of the rocker button. That's very nice when you want to make an adjustment on fly. That's the good news. Even with all of these adjustment methods, it takes a lot of tweaking to optimize it for your particular hearing profile. I spent a lot of effort to suppress over emphasis of the higher frequencies. I really prefer to hear voices better, not to hear birds tweeting, or wind noise in a car, or my shoes hitting the floor, etc. I kept hearing what I consider 'white noise'. I finally found the best settings for me, although the volume amplification could have been a bit better. A major problem I had was how long a charged battery would last. They advertise a 20 hour average battery life between charges. But the most I ever got was around 13 hours. I sent one of the aids back to the manufacturer when they agreed it should be better. It was returned to me with an 'upgraded' battery. But the battery charge still lasted only 12 to 13 hours. So if I put on the aid at 8:00 in the morning it would be dead by 9:00 in the evening. That does cover a good part of the day, but I don't like trying to manage when I can start wearing them in order to have them still work in the evening. Another problem was the app and its ability to stay connected to the aid. It would generally connect fairly quickly, but the connection would often last only about 15 seconds and I had to tell it to reconnect again. Sometimes the connection lasted much longer, but typically it would be for only 15 or 20 seconds. This makes it harder to interactively adjust the settings. Usually, one aid would stay connected and the other would go 'offline' after a few seconds, but you really need to have both connected to properly adjust them. But once you set them up, you don't need to do it again. So you don't have to use the app often, once you set them up. A final problem was the plastic tube that carries sound from the behind-the-ear module down to the ear canal. This tube would not stay well inside the canal and would slip out a bit. That causes some loss of volume, although you can still hear the amplified sound mostly. I would push it back in, but it would still come out again. So overall, there is a lot to like about these, but also a number of small problems too. plus the bigger problem of the battery charge not being as advertised. I will still keep and use these for the time being. I don't want to throw away my $700 investment and I can live with the drawbacks since for the most part these help my hearing and have some advantages I really like. ... show more

  • Good at the price
Size: Single
although my hearing loss is progressing further than anyone around me is comfortable with, I have been long remiss in doing anything about it This was my first attempt at dealing with it, and for the price compared to almost anything else it is a solid and helpful device. Having read comments from others about having drawers full of expensive yet ineffective aids I thought it wise to start modestly. the Tweak Enhance allows me to "hack" the settings and that is important to me as an engineer. It is unlikely that this will be my final choice but is a great starter. ... show more

  • A poor choice for me
Size: Pair
Left ear microphone stopped working after less than 24 hours. Lots of hiss. Compression causes hissing to go on and off randomly. I have tried three different brands so far. This was the second, the most expensive, and overall the worst. Unit was returned. Nice to have phone control but they should have spent the money on the audio. ... show more

  • Disappointing
Size: Single
I already have a base model Tweak for about 3 yrs. After trying several others it was the best so I decided an upgrade was in order. This is rechargeable so I had reservations since the old battery type easily lasted 4 days but they claim a charge would 20 hours although the small print said it could be less. In fact mine did not last the entire work day and I had to revert to the old one late in the afternoon. This one also had several settings and the ability to enter audio test results but that did not make any difference. I was able to find one setting that worked best (restaurant) So biggest drawback was the short battery life and it performed no better in use than my old one. So I returned it ... show more

I have a hard time explaining how much your product has enhanced my quality of life, just by being able to hear sounds I've been missing for years. I now hear the voices of my grandchildren, the sermon in church, raining outside. It's remarkable to hear things I've been missing for years come back to life. ... show more
