I bought this do to my old Walmart brand smoker finally calling it quits after 5 years of use. First things first, this thing is an absolute hog. It’s way heavier than I expected and took both my wife and I giving everything we had just to move the box it came in. Assembly was pretty straightforward but difficult in certain areas due to the way the instructions are laid out. My suggestion is to lay the main unit on its side, assemble the entire base, legs and support then bolt it to the smoker as one piece. It will save you an easy hour of frustration. Did the first burn in and seasoning and it went very well. Took me a few minutes to learn a new app but I gotta say I love the app for this smoker. I also really like the shutdown mode this has, simply choosing power off and letting it cool itself down is pretty sweet. The lid is incredibly heavy and has a really nice gasket to completely seal the smoke in. Overall I don’t think I could be happier with this purchase and plan on buying a pit boss table top pellet grill to go along with this. ... show more

First, this grill makes great food. I've had a few pellet grills and smokers and this one is every bit as good as a Traeger. Now the bad. While the wifi could be useful, Pit Boss ruined it with a really poor quality app. Unstable, long connection times, and amazingly enough, no alarms. In addition, the app constantly requires logging in, and Pit Boss decided it should require MFA...don't know why they think a grill app warrants that level of security. It is constantly frustrating to to repeatedly log in, making the entire "smart" grill concept tedious, and painful. There is NO reason why one should have to log into the app to use the grill. Absolutely stupid. The whole point of a smart grill is alarms. The fact that Pit Boss missed this is huge. Yes, they support notifications...great, 10 minute delay and a single notification. Completely useless. Basically, I use all my same wireless kit that I've used on previous grills, and could have saved a few hundred bucks. Next horrendously hideous feature: This is the first pellet grill I've owned where the grease trap isn't accessible. Yeah, that's right...you can't check it before a smoke! This may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You have to actually get on all fours on the ground, and get up under the grill to pull out the trap and check it. First a word about the delivery, when the truck driver saw the grill was wifi enabled he informed me that "someone make way too much money". So that was awkward... Now, on to the grill. I just got it, and haven't had a chance to fire it up yet, but based solely on the assembly instructions and prosses, things are not starting on the right foot. I consider myself to be a fairly decent metal worker who is by no means intimidated by "some assembly required", this was a colossal pain in the ass. The instructions were misleading and incomplete. Said it would take 45 minutes, it took more than 3 hours. One illustration suggested standing it on end to attach the legs, you can't lay in on the floor because the leg kick out (it weighs almost 200lbs, how are you supposed to get it off the floor?). Said the only tool needed was a Philips head screw driver, but later some of the screws need an Allan wrench (not included). There are a bunch of blind screw holes in tight spaces that require you to lay on the ground to even see where where the hole is. One of the last pieces to install was missing, I had to call support and order replacement parts. When I called and provided the part number from the manual (the only identifying information I could fine) I was told that didn't help her. It's a very heavy duty grill (much sturdier than the Treiger it replaced) and I'm excited to get some fresh pork on it, but we did not start this relationship off with a good experience. ... show more

This review is done after completion of assembly. Update will be need once powered, seasoned, and performance is gaged. Easy to assemble, very solid grill, fantastic height. The heavy duty sliding grates, front and side folding tables (cutting board, paper towel & trash bag holder) & extremely efficient, heavy duty caster wheels make this grill really hit the mark. The rolling grill lid also has thick, heavy duty gasket that seals nicely. Easy pellet and ash clean out is going to be a nice feature I haven't previously had. I've been smoking and grill on her for a month. This grill really hit the mark in every way. Quality heavy duty build. Lid with heavy duty seal along the edges rolls open and the 2 upper grates slide (or remove) for larger items and easy access; grate stow on the back side is very convenient. It has built-in heat deflectors that seal the ends for excellent heat and smoke diffusion. The height is fantastic and the caster rollers / legs are very solid. So far the temps are accurate; the temp sensor positioned to measure the cooking compartment. This model also has built-in deflectors on each end; cooking compartment temps are not affected by direct heat from the flame box. It comes with two meat probes and they were measuring accurate. Still playing with the "P" setting but I like when low temp smoking to add a little more smoke flavor. Easy clean out of ash and pellets!! WiFi and Bluetooth works great. The fold down shelves are solid and heavy duty. Love the magnetic cutting board but, although nice, the trash bag and paper towel holders, they are "ok". Over All - easy assembly, easy maintenance & cleaning, everything part is heavy duty; it is a solid pellet grill & the best choice I made... could not be happier!! ... show more
