If I could give this thing 6 stars I would! Versatile, well made and efficient. It’s so easy to get it going that I’m using it ten times more than my traditional smoker. Reverse smoked steaks and pork chops, planked salmon, brisket, pork belly…whether it’s a one hour smoke or a long overnight smoke, it gets it done. On the brisket, it still can’t match the flavor of a “real” traditional smoker (I’ve had a Weber Smokey Mountain for years) with wood chunks and charcoal, but the results are still good. It achieved a nice bark and a light smoke ring, just not to the degree the Weber will do. The Weber is a pain in the you-know-what to get going and control the temp. The Traeger does it all for you. Wow do we love this smoker! This was a gift for my husband who is new to smoking meat. The smoker is easy to use with digital temperature reader and thermometer to monitor the meat (fool proof). It took about 30 minutes to put together and my husband was able to do it himself. We use it about once a week because it is easy to use, meat gets a great smokey flavor, and tastes delicious. It is extremely functional and great for serving large groups. We think it was worth every penny! My husband says it is the best gift I ever gave him!!! ... show more

After I arrived from vacation , I opened the box and the lid had a dent on the top , which prevents the lid from closing tightly. I have to use a bungee cord to close it tight.

2022: Like many before me, our new Traeger needed a new motherboard because it NEVER once heated up to temperature correctly, needing to be "reset" many times over 3 or 4 hours to cook one item. Traeger support has loooooong wait times, to talk with someone who was not efficient with time. This was a christmas gift for someone who had wanted one for a long time, and I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the company. Sadly, this will be our last Traeger. 2024: Having never successfully worked with their product support team (due to a combination of long wait times and ridiculous useless scripts), over the last couple of years we've tried several times to simply work around the problems we've had with the smoker. It is about 70° off of temp, takes up to 4 hours to get to the cooking temperature, and twice now the pellets have dispensed so fast that it caused flare-up wgich shut the entire operation down. We've continued to try to use this smoker in spite of its problems simply because the hassle of the returning it, the expense of buying a new one has so far overwhelmed our irritation with a shitty smoker. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back :-( it took me 2 years to write this review but I'm finally ready to post it and advise you to NOT buy this product, epecially off of Amazon since you have to work with Traeger's customer service agents who absolutely do not want you to return it to Amazon if you can even get a hold of them to have that conversation which took me a ridiculous number of hours waiting on hold and going through their scripted customer service BS, to finally accomplish. Plus a large product like this is difficult to return and not worth the hassle. Buy locally so you can return locally if you feel like you must have this Traeger product ... show more

Ordered Dec. 9th, and it showed up on Dec. 21st. I got it together in an hour and a half with minimal help from my wife, and my hand was hurting from arthritis. Had an operation on said hand, so really haven't smoked as much as I would have liked to........and winter. But I did smoke two pork butts @ 7lbs a piece, and a boneless leg of lamb. Both smokes turned out great. I did get it on sale, at $399, early December, so wait for the sale. Really easy to use. I did run out of pellets on the butt's though. My fault entirely. Ran out to do run a few errands, and just spaced it. Recovered though. I do wish it had Bluetooth tech, but what do you expect. Construction seems very solid. Holds temp well.
