I originally bought a set of the Ryobi cordless tolls in about 2010. I have wide selection of the Ryobi cordless tools and only one has died on me (circular saw) because I abused the hell out of it. No complaints!!! I have two of the original impact drives from ca 2010 which still work great but had a big project last summer and wanted to treat myself to a new impact driver and see if there have been any improvements in the last 15 years or so. The new impact driver was better than the old ones. A little smaller and lighter and better speed control. Also, the bits pop out when you release them which is a nice feature. Bought this as it was a very good deal compared to new at HD. Item arrived fairly quick and looks new but as cited in white box. The "force" select function is fantastic. I set it at 2 or 3 for unscrewing fasteners and at 1 for tightening as the clutch then stops torquing before it can strip a thread. Always use the appropriate size actual click type torque wrench to do final tightening, especially on modern aluminum engine block oil pans. As I standardized on Ryobi 18V in general, it is a perfect addition to the shop. ... show more

Like everything about it, speed is great, smaller frame size than the old one that this one is replacing, lighter weight, good grip, has a lot better control over drill power, I have several Ryobi tools this is built tough.

Purchased this to work on a big deck project. Just a few hours into it with minimal use the drill's light started to blink. Tried several different fully charged batteries with no luck. These batteries worked fine in other Ryobi drills of mine. The drill was not hot, but I let it sit inside a cool garage for several hours and the light remains flashing when using. I purchased this new but received the drill in a plastic bag with no ryobi box... I guess that's why it stopped working because it's used. Would not recommend. ... show more

This works great, the adjustable settings are a big improvement from previous models. It is more powerful than earlier generations, and the collet lock to hold bits is much easier to use (doesn't require 2 hands). The only downside I see is with the light being moved to the bottom of the tool they have removed the magnetic case and bit holder from previous generations (and there were no bits included with the tool). ... show more
