So, our deck tarp, after 3 yrs of dutiful service, started to fall apart. Old one was Brick red. Came time to order a new one. The convo went like this: What color do you want? Me: not red. Maybe green or blue? But not "tarp blue" more of a sky blue? Him: I gotcha See pic for what he ordered, lol. We hung it print side up and the natural light allows the print to be seen through the White, unprinted underside. The fabric is pretty thick, installation was a breeze bc we had all the original ropes in place already, and the size was exact. We did order the turn buckles for ease of tensioning. We are due rain tonight, so will update on that later. Overall, very pleased! Thank you! It's a conversation starter for sure! Update: April 2025, 11 months after purchase Windstorm came through and dropped a 12ft branch, pointy side down, through the sail leaving a tear. Not the tarp's fault. We did notice that over the 11 months we had it, some pinprick holes had appeared here and there that would occasionally leak if the rain was really heavy and since we have to anchor the ropes to trees (deck is 12ft off the ground), we will sometimes have to prop it up in the middle to keep the water from pooling. All-in-all, still very happy with the purchase as we practically live on the deck nearly year round for our many "stay-cations". Placing another order and while the clouds were fun, you can really see the dirt buildup through the fabric (that didnt show so much with the red sail we had previously), so we will try the turquoise this time. ... show more

This the material of the shade is awesome it does a very good job, it doesn't allow water to come through, However I accidentally poked a hole in mine. I ordered the exact same one and it didn't fit my brackets. Very frustrating

    • Easy to install and help keep the deck cooler

We just built a new deck with gray poly on the roof. It gets hot and we bought one of these to see how we liked it. We really like it; it helps keep the deck a bit cooler and I love the color. We need 5 all together. they seem sturdy enough, I like that it is lightweight, easy to install. These will not be subject to the weather as they are under the poly, they will get the sun of course but not any rain or hail. When summer is over, we will store them till next year. Unable to stretch the center of sun sail firmly we tried! Not good unless you use a steep angle rain will collect on it! We made it dirty trying and I’m sure I can’t even return now! Won’t buy again

    • Effective shelter and looks good while doing it

I use this canopy over a gazebo I designed and built on my deck. The canopy connects to the gazebo at the corners with stainless steel turnbuckles and is elevated in the center over a stainless steel hemisphere mounted on a short pole. Due to where this gazebo is located, it can collect water if it's not stretched tight. It needs to be tightened periodically since it stretches a little with age and the wind blowing. If it does start to collect water, it stretches even more, and the cycle continues. To prevent that, I cut 2 small, strategically located holes and put some Snap N' Tap Grommets (ASIN B000VL1TIA) in. The holes allow accumulated water to drain before things get out of hand. The holes are near the corners of the gazebo so even if it's raining, the drains aren't hitting most of the area covered by the canopy. I had one of these last year in a different color and it got a little messed up (then I learned about the grommets). It doesn't help that we keep it up for 9 months of the year and it got snowed on during a freak spring storm, which stretched it a lot. Wife wanted a different color this year, so got one in red and put grommets in it before putting it up. It also hasn't snowed, so I think we're in good shape the summer. It keeps the rain off anything under the gazebo unless the wind is also blowing, which isn't the fault of the canopy. It also keeps the direct sun off us when we're using the table under the gazebo. The sun shade provides good shade and the fabric is definitely water proof. The stitching is good and workmanship is fine. However, the metal attachment rings are NOT stainless steel and have rusted considerably since I purchased the shade a little more than a year ago. For comparison, the mounting hardware I purchased at the same time from a different source IS stainless steel and is shown next to the shade for comparison. ... show more
