    • A lot sturdier than it looks

First: the product. Exactly as described and pictured. Super easy to assemble. The panels seem kinda flimsy at first, but after everything is assembled it’s sturdy. Second: installation. A nightmare. Truly awful. I can’t honestly blame the nightmare installation on the product. I’m assuming any other awning would be this bad. Some advice: don’t count on the installation hardware that comes with the awning. It was complicated and didn’t come with any instructions. I had to look it up on YouTube. The other problem is the awning’s arches. The little decorations inside the support arches which I’m assuming are structurally important make it hard to attach the awning to the wall. A drill, hammer, screwdriver…none of it will fit. The top hole is covered by one of those decorations on the arch, so only a tool with small clearance will work. For example, you can use a simple hand wrench because it turns flat, parallel to the wall. But you can’t use a screwdriver because the handle comes away from the hole and turns perpendicular to the wall. So before you start with this project I highly recommend you make a plan about what hardware to use to attach it to your building. Keep in mind that you will not have any tools clearance for those top holes. Good luck! On the plus side, I put this awning through a ton of abuse trying to get it up and it is definitely more sturdy than it looks. I even had to skip one of the holes, so the whole thing sags. But we’ve had some big storms and it doesn’t budge even with the uneven way it hangs. The panels are a bit hollow so it makes some noise when it rains. If that is a concern for you then be aware. It is louder than the sound rain makes on my car roof when I’m inside the car but not tin roof loud. I’d say it’s more like rain on a plastic umbrella. ... show more

    • Lightweight can be put up with one person

Arrived earlier than expected which was a plus. Light weight, would recommend to have a helper to steady on side, but can be put up by oneself. Had to seal the seams with insulated tape as it wanted to slip out of the slots while putting up. The arms are made of hard plastic, not sure how well high winds will affect it at the bolt holes. Would have liked to had several options as the a hits were too short for my application through vinyl siding. I do, however think that this has been a good investment to block rain and direct sunlight around my back door,. I have now purchased a second one will be put it up soon. Great price super light weight and tinted. Note: if the door swings inward the height above the door doesn’t need to be as high as directed as the door will not hit it on the swing outward. ... show more

Maybe four? Depends on what happens when the water inside the corrugated panel freezes? Water gets in and doesn't come out so a freeze will do what? Stay tuned, I'll report back in a year. For those that haven't installed yours yet here's a tip: seal the ends with some clear caulking, wipe down and let it dry (optional) then assemble. Wish I knew beforehand. They are pretty sturdy but mounting hardware is the wrong type for regular clapboard siding. Get something appropriate beforehand or you'll be patching holes you made. Effective at reducing sunlight. Looks good and lightweight which makes it easier to install and stay put. Have a second person available to help assemble and install. ... show more

I’ve had this for about 12 years now. Bought it to protect a 18,000 BTU Split Air A\C mounted on side of house . It has done the job well and still holding up to extreme heat ( summers over 100 most days) and torrential rains . Good value & quality.

If you are trying to put this together by yourself do not follow the instructions. The panels keep coming apart but if you attach all the silver bars to the pc covers first then tape everything together and put one of the ends (brackets, what ever you call them, lol) on its side then you can pick up the whole assembly and work it into the end and then put the other on then you can follow the instructions to put the screws in. First night I fought with trying to get it together by the instructions but after I thought of this I had it together in 40 minutes all by myself. Hopes this helps. Still need help hanging it but so far it helps. Glad to be able to stand on my porch without rain hitting me. ... show more

The awning works well and is made much better than I expected. Assembly was not too difficult as the instructions were well written. Installed easily. Delivery however was problematic. Seller uses YunExpress who does not provide timely and clear updates. It was not delivered in the time frame expected. Seller responded quickly to my concerns but had no more information than on YunExpress website. It eventually arrived with no notification. Will make sure that Amazon orders are delivered by Amazon in the future. ... show more
