It stopped working after about 10 months of continued use. I contacted customer support and they asked me to make a video of me plugging in the charger to the outlet and then plugging in my car. When I plugged the charger out and back in, it started working again. ******Update. It doesn't work anymore even when I plug it out and back in. This company is struggling to honor their warranty. They can't figure out how to get me a shipping label so I can return it for repairs. *******Update. They sent me a replacement charger. I looked at some if the other reviewers that had issues and I think they are right about the charger connector being the issue. Connecting and disconnecting was hard and I think that damaged the charger when I used it. The replacement has a different head on it and connects and disconnects a lot easier. The replacement is on the left in my photo. I just started using the replacement today, so we'll see how well it goes. ... show more

This review is for the MEGEAR Level 2 EV Charger which I have been using everyday for 8 months now. We drive for about 80 miles everyday- sometimes more and this charger has held up fine. Reliability is probably the most important thing you are reading this review for, because its obviously one of the cheapest Level 2 chargers on the market and you want something cheap but will last right? I can say that the connector is a tight fit for our BMW X5 but for our Nissan Leaf it fits fine. Removing it from the BMW X5 takes alot more effort because of the connector latching mechanism tends to stick in the down position- so we have to push it into the vehicle before pulling it out. Overall I would recommend this charger based on the low price and the speed of level 2 charging. I will update this review if this thing ever breaks but 8 months in and still working. ... show more

This is my first charger, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it works well for me. Yes, it is a level 1, so it takes a while to charge my car. I usually charge from 60% to 80%, which takes a long, long while. If you are looking for a quicker charger, or charging from a lower level, I would recommend you look at buying a level 2 (and having an electrician install it), or using a public charger. ... show more

If you are looking for an easy to use, user friendly L2 charger then the Megear will work for you. It's simply a plug in and walk away charger. It has worked for us flawlessly for 30 days and I have zero complaints. This is a 16 amp charger so be sure to check what the maximum amperage (PAR) your BEV or PHEV can accept. The power cord and the J1772 plug are very hardy and I can see it lasting for thousands of charges. To power this charger, I have the SplitVolt supplying the power utilizing my 240 volt dryer outlet. The downside to this "entry level" charger is that it doesn't have smart technology or app which would allow you to set your charge times in advance like some of the other chargers offer. Ordered this cable to trickle charge our Kia EV6, and as a portable backup cable. Works well off a standard plug outlet. After about 10 months the unit started displaying a mechanical fault when plugging into the wall, however the customer service was excellent. I contacted Megear directly, and they sent a brand new replacement free of charge. Would definitely buy from them again knowing they take care of their customers like this. ... show more

I installed this on an exterior porch socket that my vehicle-supplied cord couldn't reach without an extension cord--which is not recommended. The extra length of this charger works great. The charger comes with a clip that allows one to secure the control unit to a wall or post, keeping it out of the way. One negative: the lights are so bright that you can see the charger from across the street. So far, the neighbours have not complained.... or perhaps they think that it is a decorative light. Second, the holster that receives the idle plug cracked and needed to be replaced. I think that the cord is so long and heavy that it strains the plastic. Third, after four months of great service, it suddenly stopped communicating with my car. I am not sure whether this is the car's (Kia Niro EV 2022) problem or the charger, but I suspect the latter since the car charges fine on public chargers and using its own portable charger. ... show more
