This item arrived in time n seemed enough quality for the price. It was almost impossible to install.. It kept falling apart while installing. we didnt give up. used tapes n adhesives to hold in place. once installed. it was pretty. then next day rain n water seep in joints n next thing was fungus, dirt. However I stopped looking at it as it used to hurt me see what a wastage. after 3 weeks it was windy, n middle panel flew away. yes we used lot of adhesive, all the hardware etc. N now i m sitting here trying to find the replacement for the flew away part. since we drilled our brand new house n thought its pretty n useful.. seriously stay away. This is an update. These people heard me. They improved their design. Sent me free replacement. Guided me all through the way. Installing was again tough with 2/3 people. Bt once its up. Its there. Heavy rains n its fine for now. How ever the angles this time were smaller n we ended up drilling more holes in the building. Bt its good going now. Thank u! ... show more

OK its inexpensive and it is nice... but you will read it is a challenge to install. Here are a few tips. At first I had difficulties (as you read other reviews you may notice the same) I ordered 2 kits... only one was shipped at first... Quick communication with seller they fixed the problem and shipped the missing unit. I subsequently ordered 2 more since they were a good company to deal with. The first kit was horrible to install at first... See picture #4 not all pieces were cut at the same length, I had to get a pair of tin snips to fix the problem... So Set it up first on the ground to make sure everything fits. Install only one section at a time... You would be best advised to use two people.. this is not easy for one person (although by the end of set #3 I am able to do it by myself. But only out of necessity and not by choice or easily.) Mounting hardware.. at first I used the supplied units drilled holes.. my ignorance on how these things bolts worked were an issue. Drill the holes and tighten allowing them to expand. yes it is possible (But not easy) to remove after as well. I instead used cement plugs and larger bolts available to me since I live in a hurricane zone and I like to mount things very durable. Saying this... my brackets may now survive a hurricane, but I doubt the panels would. I doubt any panels would of course. I would not buy more expensive units than these as they do the job, & they look nice. I note that made from plastic and in the sun they will yellow and fade in color but I can see no options other than expensive heavy metal ones (that you would likely need to often paint as well) and honestly once they are installed you don't want to be taking them down every year to paint anyways. ... show more

    • Here is what you need to know about wind

This is my second purchase of the same item. The first one blew out most of the panels in a hurricane. You cannot replace, I was told no extra parts available, so I bought another one. First it is very good looking for the money. However there are some drawbacks. 1) it can be troublesome to put it together by yourself, even with a friend. When you get it together you must be careful when moving it. The sturdiness of the unit depends on the final bolting in process.....I think that is a flaw. 2) the panels are two pieces per section held together by a plastic brace, which will NOT withstand strong winds. 3) you must be careful of clearance when you place the item, it dips down low so be sure you place it HIGH! Overall I like the item but it has come apart in 35- 40 mph wind gusts and above that you will start to lose panels. A Cat 1 Hurricane say bye bye. I'm giving it one more shot because it is a perfect fit for my BBQ island outside. This time I went to the hardware store and purchased 4' aluminum strips 1/8" thick. I took 6 of these and but them to fit and then BOLTED them across each section thereby holding the panels firmly together. This is important especially across the middle where the two panels meet, because they easily buckle up in strong wind making them pop out. This is the perfect solution for my backyard. Upon stepping out my slider, I was immediately exposed to the elements. I needed something... but, definitely not one of those circus looking, fabric, scalloped edge awnings. Was skeptical but was pleasantly surprised. Only "con" the directions could have been a will more detailed, but since most people only look at the pictures... Awning looks very nice. Bought few sets a while ago. It's wasn't easy putting it together but after 30min one was complete and straight. Very finicky. Also screws were missing. If you use a single one it's fine but two or three of these sections it's impossible to put it straight. Let's move to the installation. Those anckers it came with did more damage to my siding than hold the awning. Had to remove it completely drill new wholes and use my own screws to be safe and secure. I get it, product is not expensive and you can totally tell that. I would not recommend this product. It might get the job done but it's not worth all the frustrations. The limiting issue in these going on easy is how many you string and how straight your wall is the length of the awning. If the area you are attaching them to is bowled or a wavy surface your margin of error is the small distance the board slides into the bracket. I guess you could cut one of the aluminum ends and the boards to adjust but that is not easy. I was doing six and the surface for number four was recessed about 1/8 inch and five another 1/8 inch. Can be done with some effort but move than one panel you may have some troubles. ... show more
