Got it assembled by myself in about 2 hours. Was missing a bunch of screws that hold the pieces together. Had to use my own. But otherwise was fairly quick to assemble. Hanging it on the side of building required 2 of us. I put some screws on the wall where the holes would go and hung it there with another person. Then I screwed in the bottom holes first and then the top. I used some rivet nuts (search rivet nuts inside Amazon) and there were some that fit the large holes of the awning. I was able to use some regular screws to screw it to the wall instead of using those huge nuts that came with the awning. ... show more

OK its inexpensive and it is nice... but you will read it is a challenge to install. Here are a few tips. At first I had difficulties (as you read other reviews you may notice the same) I ordered 2 kits... only one was shipped at first... Quick communication with seller they fixed the problem and shipped the missing unit. I subsequently ordered 2 more since they were a good company to deal with. The first kit was horrible to install at first... See picture #4 not all pieces were cut at the same length, I had to get a pair of tin snips to fix the problem... So Set it up first on the ground to make sure everything fits. Install only one section at a time... You would be best advised to use two people.. this is not easy for one person (although by the end of set #3 I am able to do it by myself. But only out of necessity and not by choice or easily.) Mounting hardware.. at first I used the supplied units drilled holes.. my ignorance on how these things bolts worked were an issue. Drill the holes and tighten allowing them to expand. yes it is possible (But not easy) to remove after as well. I instead used cement plugs and larger bolts available to me since I live in a hurricane zone and I like to mount things very durable. Saying this... my brackets may now survive a hurricane, but I doubt the panels would. I doubt any panels would of course. I would not buy more expensive units than these as they do the job, & they look nice. I note that made from plastic and in the sun they will yellow and fade in color but I can see no options other than expensive heavy metal ones (that you would likely need to often paint as well) and honestly once they are installed you don't want to be taking them down every year to paint anyways. ... show more

This is my second purchase of the same item. The first one blew out most of the panels in a hurricane. You cannot replace, I was told no extra parts available, so I bought another one. First it is very good looking for the money. However there are some drawbacks. 1) it can be troublesome to put it together by yourself, even with a friend. When you get it together you must be careful when moving it. The sturdiness of the unit depends on the final bolting in process.....I think that is a flaw. 2) the panels are two pieces per section held together by a plastic brace, which will NOT withstand strong winds. 3) you must be careful of clearance when you place the item, it dips down low so be sure you place it HIGH! Overall I like the item but it has come apart in 35- 40 mph wind gusts and above that you will start to lose panels. A Cat 1 Hurricane say bye bye. I'm giving it one more shot because it is a perfect fit for my BBQ island outside. This time I went to the hardware store and purchased 4' aluminum strips 1/8" thick. I took 6 of these and but them to fit and then BOLTED them across each section thereby holding the panels firmly together. This is important especially across the middle where the two panels meet, because they easily buckle up in strong wind making them pop out.     • Looks good, hardware is worthless for most homes

I just finished putting this up today. It took some extra time because I had to go to the hardware store. The included anchors would not work on a wood clad vinyl siding home. I have an old house with 1 inch thick oak wood sheathing, most newer homes have 1/2 inch osb sheathing. So if you have a house that isn't brick, stone, stucco, cinderblock, etc. plan on buying your own hardware. I recommend lag bolts. Since I had already drilled holes for their hardware, I had to get creative and use threaded inserts and different bolts. The installation is not easy, even for someone who is experienced in construction/repair. I can't attest to durability yet, but the brackets are solid and feel like they will hold up and the roof panels aren't incredibly strong, but if they aren't on the side of your house with prevalent winds they should be fine. I am happy overall, just be prepared to spend $10-15 on getting hardware to fit your needs; their hardware is far from universal. ... show more
