  • Thin, ashy color
Very thin color - ended up very ashy rather than intense purple

  • Meh
Color washed out way too quickly

  • First time using professional line
I thought the instructions were straight forward but I may have made a mistake because my hair came out a faded blue instead of purple

  • Didn't do anything to my hair.
Not sure if it was a bad batch or what but the violet velvet did nothing to my very faded out hair.. pretty disappointed as this is my first time using manic panic and I've always heard such good reviews.

  • Don’t buy this. MP Amplified is MUCH better!
I’ve been using Manic Panic Amplified in Ultra Violet on my non-bleached, light brown and gray hair for years with great results color-wise. I get a rich purple color with vibrant purple highlights where my grays are. Only downside is how often I have to re-color due to fading. I decoded to try this “professional” version of MP in Violet Velvet because it said it would last longer. I followed all the directions, left it on longer than suggested, AND used heat. The result is a dingy blue/brown color that looks like a mistake and some periwinkle blue where my grays are. Not a fan. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware
I’ve been dying my hair with my mom since I was 15 and have used a variety of products both (including professional grade). I love manic panic so we figured we’d step it up with this stuff. It didn’t fully latch onto my bleached hair, the color was NOT in any way purple, and even though I heat treated it for the designated time, the majority of the color washed out but it left a fair portion of my hair green. Thankfully I had a spare of my normal velvet violet stashed so I was able to color over the insanity. Just don’t buy this, buy the high intensity ultra pigmented manic panic instead. ... show more

  • Weird texture, disappeared after process, won't use again.
I had high hopes for this color, but it did not work for my client. We lightened to level 9/10 and used this an in-between shade for a hot pink- turquoise melt. This color basically disappeared. The texture is also weird - it's definitely a gel, it sticks together in the bowl and as it sat it got sticker and clumping. Will not use again. Hot pink used is Pravana Vivids Magenta, Turquoise is Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise Amplified. ... show more

  • End result doesn't even resemble purple
It ended up a pale blue-gray, no purple at all. It looked blue the moment it went on -- even dying my skin blue -- so I guess I can't be surprised that there's no purple in the final results. Still disappointing.
