I have no idea how or why this happened to my hair, but this might be the blackest darkest black I have ever tried! I started off with FIRE RED hair, I dyed a dark brown permanent box dye over it which left it to be a dark wine red as in picture 1. I dyed it several times and couldn’t get the red out! I finally decided to embrace the goth in me and just dye it black. As you can see my hair is very damaged from past procedures it has endured. So I needed a good, a green/blue black semi-permanent hair dye. And after going through hours and hours of reviews on Amazon, I found that this black dye had green and blue undertones. BEWARE it stains. My big head couldn’t wait 10 more days to return home to dye my hair, cause i was sick of the red! And that resulted in me trying to dye my hair at the house of a friends I was staying with at that time. Now, my friends bathroom is WHITE. Everything from the towels, to the tiles, the walls and the counter tops is WHITE. I thought i was about to drop $100K to fix the whole bathroom after my dye project. To get it out of the toilet seat, marble countertops, wood cupboards and floor tiles and bath-tub I followed these steps, first dry wipe with toilet paper, spray bleach, let it sit, dry wipe, rubbing alcohol + cetaphil face wash (i thought the mix of the acidic and basic elements would help?), let it sit and then wipe with baby wipe. And for some reason the rubbing alcohol really helped with getting the stains out! Pic 2, after dye in the sunshine. Pic 3 is after 3rd wash, in the sun, still no red. Pic 4 wash 4. Pic 5 wash 5. It didn’t fade! Idk why, because each time I wash it, the water still comes out DARK. I also stain my hand or forehead in my sleep from sweat. But it comes out. The bathroom is fine, though when my hair shed, it would leave a green/blue mark if it was wet so I had to be careful to wipe it asap. My hair is still BLACK BLACK, I am amazed. I left the dye in my hair for an hour, I always wash with semi-warm water. I’ve been using the sandwich method while washing, conditioner - shampoo - conditioner. Maybe that helped it not fade? And sulphate free shampoo too! I didn’t wash my hair for 2-3 days after I dyed it for the first time to ensure it stuck in my hair follicles. THIS IS THE BEST BLACK DYE, NO RED SHINE, PURE BLACK.

We recently tried Arctic Fox Vegan and Cruelty-Free Semi-Permanent Hair Dye, and I can’t say enough good things about it! My 7, 9, and 12-year-olds were thrilled with the results. The colors are incredibly vibrant and fun—perfect for kids who want to express themselves safely and creatively. The formula is gentle and conditioning, which was a huge plus for me as a parent. It’s made with 100% vegan ingredients, free from ammonia, peroxide, alcohol, and PPD, so I felt confident letting my kids use it. I’ve used Arctic Fox Semi-Permanent Hair Color a few times now, and overall, I’m really happy with the results! The color payoff is bold and vibrant, especially on pre-lightened hair. It goes on smoothly, smells amazing (like grape candy!), and doesn’t have that harsh chemical scent that a lot of other dyes do. One of the things I really appreciate is that it’s vegan and cruelty-free, and the conditioning formula actually leaves my hair feeling softer and more hydrated after coloring—which is rare with hair dyes. It’s gentle enough that I feel comfortable using it more frequently for touch-ups or experimenting with different shades. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fading. While it holds well for a semi-permanent dye, especially if you use cold water and sulfate-free shampoo, the color does fade faster than I hoped—especially on parts of my hair that weren’t as porous or lightened. Some shades (like red or teal) tend to bleed more during the first few washes too, so be prepared to protect your towels and pillowcases. That said, it’s still one of the better semi-permanent dyes out there in terms of color range, ingredients, and overall hair health. If you go in with the right prep and maintenance, you’ll get stunning, long-lasting results. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to add a fun, vibrant pop of color without the damage!
