This was one of the most costly mistakes I’ve made. My hair ended up so brassy and reddish colored which the salon called it “hot roots”. I had to go get a color correction. This did did not lighten my hair at all like the box. I had it on my head for 20 minutes and then put it on my roots for the last 10 per the instructions. When I was finished, my roots were a red color and the rest of my hair was only slightly lighter than the dark brown it was before. I would most likely test an area before ever putting this on your head. The first picture in the collage is what my hair was, which was a dark brown. The second picture and third picture are of the reddish hue that it took. The pictures do not do the copper color justice. The last picture is after I went and got a color correction. My goal was to just have really light brown hair, but that never happened. I just don’t think that they should sell it as something that can lighten your hair as much as it does.     • BE WARNED! ORANGE ROOTS!
I like this product but PLEASE if you are taking your hair from a dark color to a light color, do NOT follow the instructions in the box. I was going from a medium-dark brown to a light brown. The instructions say to start the color 1 inch down from your roots applying color from mid-head to the ends and let that set for 20 minutes and then when that time is up apply the rest of the color to your roots and let that set for 10 minutes. I questioned this and it didn’t make sense to me — I thought why would your roots need less time with the hair color on your head when doing the entire head — but I told myself to just follow the directions on the package. BIG MISTAKE. Exactly what I feared would happen, did happen. ORANGE ROOTS! It looks insane. So I just reordered the product and will attempt to correct this tomorrow by applying more to my roots. But be warned! Just put it all over your head on the first go-round and leave on for 30 minutes if you are trying to go from dark to light. ... show more
