I absolutely love this product, I have bought it multiple times and I will keep buying it it is not too extreme and I get so many compliments on it. The directions are straightforward two bottles mix them together wait a few minutes it's perfect for an easy hair dye. It lasts anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks but it definitely starts toning down about three to four weeks in. ... show more

I ended up using 2-3 boxes because i have pretty thick hair and let me tell you, it is SO vibrant, and so, so pretty. when you add a lot like i did, i find that it makes the dye more colorful which is why i got a slightly fainted result on my first dye and a nice and deep result on my third. My friend used this 40 Espresso shade first and I really liked how her hair turned out—looked natural but still had a nice shine. She bought it in store, but I usually don’t like going out, so I found it on Amazon and it was actually cheaper, which made me super happy. I tried it myself at home and it was pretty easy to use. The color came out a bit darker than I expected, but still looks good and covers grays well. Hair didn’t feel too damaged after, especially with the conditioner. I used R48 Red Velvet on natural medium-brown hair that had not been dyed before and the initial effect after dyeing was that it was much darker than before (but this lightened back to medium after a few washes) but the red color is brilliant and attractive. It has a slightly blue sheen undertone on brown hair which is a gorgeous contrast to the red color. It's very lovely in natural light, but it can be hard to see indoors depending on the lighting. I have seen some reviews voice concern about how dark it looks after dyeing but it will lighten up and just show the color after a few washes, so fear not if you don't like that! Another positive aspect of this dye is that it's very easy to clean up off of countertops and the tub. It will lift very easily with only cleaning vinegar. I was pleasantly surprised. I have always done by hair at the salon but I’ve moved to a small town and they charge wild prices for the bare minimum . I had naturally medium to dark brown roots grown out about 4 inches and blond highlights and my hair was to my butt. I bought 4 boxes of the downtown brown color to make sure I had enough . I left the dye in for the max 45 mins and I used 3 boxes for my medium thick hair. The color lifted the dark roots and the rest of my hair looked great I love the brown it shimmers and it looks good for my pale skin and doesn’t wash me out. My hair smells great and it’s super soft . This is a great cool brown color I will for sure use again . I have a lot of greys around my face and sides and it covered it nicely ... show more

Hit or miss with this one. The Cool Amethyst is my favorite color- I’ve been using it for about 5 years now. I’ve noticed that if it mixes up a pale yellow color initially, it doesn’t dye my hair. I then have to buy another box & try again in 3 days. If it mixes to a darker yellow initially, it does a great job. Idk if people are selling old bottles or what. This dye has jumped from $9 to almost $16 in the past year, so taking a chance that it won’t do the job isn’t acceptable. I already have to recolor every 3 weeks or so. I will likely go back to dark brown due to this issue- which is sad. I’m pretty disappointed. ... show more
