I have no idea how or why this happened to my hair, but this might be the blackest darkest black I have ever tried! I started off with FIRE RED hair, I dyed a dark brown permanent box dye over it which left it to be a dark wine red as in picture 1. I dyed it several times and couldn’t get the red out! I finally decided to embrace the goth in me and just dye it black. As you can see my hair is very damaged from past procedures it has endured. So I needed a good, a green/blue black semi-permanent hair dye. And after going through hours and hours of reviews on Amazon, I found that this black dye had green and blue undertones. BEWARE it stains. My big head couldn’t wait 10 more days to return home to dye my hair, cause i was sick of the red! And that resulted in me trying to dye my hair at the house of a friends I was staying with at that time. Now, my friends bathroom is WHITE. Everything from the towels, to the tiles, the walls and the counter tops is WHITE. I thought i was about to drop $100K to fix the whole bathroom after my dye project. To get it out of the toilet seat, marble countertops, wood cupboards and floor tiles and bath-tub I followed these steps, first dry wipe with toilet paper, spray bleach, let it sit, dry wipe, rubbing alcohol + cetaphil face wash (i thought the mix of the acidic and basic elements would help?), let it sit and then wipe with baby wipe. And for some reason the rubbing alcohol really helped with getting the stains out! Pic 2, after dye in the sunshine. Pic 3 is after 3rd wash, in the sun, still no red. Pic 4 wash 4. Pic 5 wash 5. It didn’t fade! Idk why, because each time I wash it, the water still comes out DARK. I also stain my hand or forehead in my sleep from sweat. But it comes out. The bathroom is fine, though when my hair shed, it would leave a green/blue mark if it was wet so I had to be careful to wipe it asap. My hair is still BLACK BLACK, I am amazed. I left the dye in my hair for an hour, I always wash with semi-warm water. I’ve been using the sandwich method while washing, conditioner - shampoo - conditioner. Maybe that helped it not fade? And sulphate free shampoo too! I didn’t wash my hair for 2-3 days after I dyed it for the first time to ensure it stuck in my hair follicles. THIS IS THE BEST BLACK DYE, NO RED SHINE, PURE BLACK.

I absolutely love the Arctic Fox hair dye! The color comes out super bright and rich, and it lasts longer than other semi-permanent dyes I’ve tried. It also leaves my hair feeling soft instead of dry, and the fruity scent is a nice bonus. I really like that it’s vegan and cruelty-free. Totally worth it if you want bold color without damaging your hair!

We are very happy with this dye — the color turned out vibrant and beautiful even after just 15 minutes. It smells nice, didn’t damage the hair, and my daughter loves her turquoise look. However, the bathroom floor tiles turned completely turquoise while rinsing — hopefully it comes off! Because of that, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

This dye works super well. I attempted to do sectioning and brush but I haven’t dyed my hair before so I ended up giving up and applying it like shampoo. Definitely wear gloves! I squeezed dye from the bottle directly into my hair, and lots into my hands and then when it felt super saturated, I used a comb to brush through all of my hair to make sure every strand was covered, and then I kept adding more dye just to be extra sure. When I was done, I covered my head in Saran Wrap (to keep it moist, and as to not stain) and an old t shirt (to keep heat in) and left it in overnight. The next morning I rinsed my hair out in the yard with the hose lol. IT DEFINITELY STAINS EVERYTHING IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH, SO BE PREPARED! (Skin, shower, sink, clothes, etc). I have dark brown hair and I didn’t bleach or anything, just applied the purple over my natural hair, so obviously it’s less noticeable than someone with lighter or bleached hair. I did this as a substitute for anything more permanent or destructive. The color is definitely is very stubborn and does not want to come out! I dyed a streak in my daughter’s hair, but only left hers for about 30 mins and hers faded in a couple weeks, while mine is still very vibrant. Overall, I highly recommend this brand! I used one 8 oz bottle and it was plenty even though I have very thick hair.

I have purchased Arctic Fox a bajillion times, lol. I usually stick with pinks, purples, and reds to color over my salt and pepper hair. Virgin Pink is one of my essential colors, but even combined with another color in those families, it typically fades out to a baby pink or lavender. I have no idea if I am an anomaly, but I have always had great luck with Arctic Fox covering my greys. I do not bleach out my hair, and it still covers well. The only issue I have had is that the color does tend to quickly fade at my roots; before I started growing out a side shave, there was no point in dying it before the color would last a day or two. I have been using fantasy colors for 30 years (off and on), and AF works great for being pigmented, fading out nicely, and not really staining. In my experience, the staining mostly occurs if you did not get everything washed out fully. (I always miss a spot or two along my hair line.) I have used AF on bleached hair (both virgin bleached and bleached over box dye) and have never had a problem with it coming out right. If you are concerned about staining, cut your dye with some conditioner and that should help a lot. If you concerned about fading, wash your hair less and wash it under the coldest water you could stand. If it’s too intense, and you want it to fade faster, use dandruff shampoo. I’ve included pics of what my hair looked like before dying and what it looked like freshly dyed using a combo of Electric paradise and Virgin Pink.
