Sturdy and provides an excellent privacy screen. Installation was not overly challenging, although it required some ingenuity since I wanted it close to the railing of my Trex deck. After a couple of months, the recoil mechanism still works great -- hope it will last.

OMG, where do I start! I received the item and opened it up for install. I immediately noticed that the plastic surrounding the item seemed to be wet with oil? Upon removing the plastic and wiping down the oil (?) I noticed the awning container that is supposed to be mounted on the house was an extremely thin metal, literally I could crush it with my hand like a soda can. Alas, I assumed it was to cover the awning only and perhaps it didnt need to be heavy gauge. Upon mounting the awing on my home, the seams of the metal enclosure holding the awning separated at the bottom causing serious concerns about the overall integrity and longevity of the item itself. Upon opening the awing, I found it to appear stretched and mis-shapen, frayed along the edges, I actually couldnt believe what I had received and started to wonder if somehow a crap company had gotten through the Amazon vetting process and I had been scammed. Once the awning was extended, it would not retract. Immediately pulled it from my home and contacted the company for a refund. The company offered a $10 dollar refund if I kept the item. Upon declining the $10, they said they would provide a refund but I was responsible for shipping costs. I explained that their item was poor quality and the description misleading and insisted they pay return shipping at which time all communication stopped. Item is going straight into the garbage, let the buyer beware.

This has replaced our ugly, easily shredded privacy sunscreen curtains in the carport. This serves our needs better..That said, the installation anchors the manufacturer offer are junk..We had to order better quality anchors on Amazon..Additionally, while the product is easy to operate, it is cumbersome to try to open and close the awning, and requires two hands if your non dominant hand is not very dextrous, and one must put their armful of things down, to either retract or reset the screen, and you have to consider where the handles will be when you install it or it could only be operable (reachable) from one side. Instructions are crappy, as usual, but overall, its beautiful and serves its purpose.
