We had just a concrete slab when we moved in. We don't want to build a full deck/patio, but we wanted something that would partially block the sun during the summer. We had tried 3 triangle shade sails in series, but they did not consistently cover the space as well as we liked. I decided to give this rectangular shade a try and so far we have not been disappointed. The intensity of our sun is extreme (50% higher) and my only complaint is that the most direct light still penetrates through it beyond its reported shade rating. This was recorded using a light intensity meter on a clear 100 degree day. However, plants in the window are still happy and it is much better than it was before. For the price, this was a good solution and we hope that it stands up to wind and weathering.

Just expanded our deck. This offers the perfect amount of shade where we needed it. For the price, this was a great value. The instructions say the shade will shrink once warmed by the sun. My husband and I have seen no evidence of shrinkage. Not a problem, but we did tighten it after a week or so. While it does seem hardy, we have taken it down when severe storms passed thru. Not sure how well it would survive 60+ wind. It has done fine in a normal rain and winds 15 to 20.

The company should come up with something else. The white rope stretches and looks tacky. I ended up using zipties.
