I received these great hearing Aids and was pleasantly impressed by them. They seemed to be made of quality materials for being from an off-brand maker. I liked the design of them. They also seems to be a good value for your money for the quality of them. They fit great overall. So I'm definitely pleased with that. I would definitely get this product again if I had the chance to do so.

SUMMARY REVIEW: I have tried and reviewed a very significant number of hearing aids. In short and most importantly, these hearing aids are very near the top of the list in terms of sound quality; very “life-like”. The onboard toggle controls are very easy to use BUT they only control power on / off, volume, and handling calls or listening to music through the aids. To be able to use ALL of the many features users are required to register to use their proprietary app. To me that’s a problem as all apps can have privacy issues AND if the app goes away (malfunctions, etc.) so do many of the important features including language translation! Pick the language you are trying to understand and your language and it can speak and provide text of the translation. These are about $600 and could be closer 5 stars, but the uncertainty regarding the app in terms of privacy and not being able to use all of the features otherwise (or is the app goes away) are real issues for me. [3.4 stars]. Following is a much more detailed version of my review which includes two other significant detractors regarding this hearing aids. DETAILED REVIEW: These are very nice hearing aids overall with a significant drawback to me. Here are my observations. PROS ◦ THESE ARE TRUE FDA REGISTERED HEARING AIDS: These hearing aids are actually classified as “HEARING AID, AIR-CONDUCTION WITH WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY, OVER THE COUNTER” on the official US FDA website; I did a Google search for “FDA accessdata”, and clicked on the first result. On the next in the “Owner/Operator Name” box I entered “ELEHEAR” (which is the manufacturer’s name), and pressed the Search button. Then I clicked on the 1st bullet point link (which includes “RIC 03L” (the actual model number found inside the lid of the storage / charging case), and the page with the official FDA classification appears. ◦ SOUND QUALITY: To me these hearing aids have very good sound quality; very close to what I consider to be life-like. ◦ NO FEEDBACK: I did not experience feedback (squealing / screeching). TIP: make sure to take the time to test different sizes and types of the 13 pairs of included silicone ear domes AND keep hands away from the microphones (above and below the toggle control button). This helps eliminate any possible feedback sounds. ◦ NOISE REDUCTION: The noise cancellation seemed to work fine. ◦ CONTROLS: Each aid has one toggle control button; they work well and easily. The upper side of the button increase volume and the lower button lowers volume. The upper side of the button can manually turn on the aids by holding it 3 seconds, and can power them off holding the power button 5 seconds. Also, the down end of the toggle buttons can be pressed 2 seconds to answer/end calls and play/pause music. ◦ BLUETOOTH: Connecting via Bluetooth was easy after first downloading the app. I like (and consider it a must) that via Bluetooth these aids can be used to listen to music, take calls, stream, etc., directly through my cell phone. The music quality was also excellent to me (bearing in mind I am not an audiophile). Note: these do not have the newer BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology that uses VERY little energy so the battery can last MUCH longer even with significant Bluetooth use (a big NIT to me). ◦ BATTERY: These are listed as providing 20 hours of use with a 2.5-hour case charge, and the case can be used to provide 4 more charges without being plugged in (for an additional 80 hours). To clarify, charging the aids in the case provides a total of 100 hours of use; that is on the high end of battery capability. Fully charging the aids in the charged case should take only 1.5 hours. ◦ EXTENDED HIGH RANGE FREQUENCY: “Elehear” increased the high end range from 7000Hz to 8500Hz on this model. From my discussions with a professional in the hearing aid industry, to keep costs down many OTC hearing aids do not do very well beyond 7000Hz, so this is considered a very significant improvement. ◦ WEARING THE AIDS: It is important to make sure to pick the correct size and style of silicone ear tip to use (13 pairs are included). I prefer this BTE (behind the ear) RIC (receiver in canal) style of hearing aid. In general, to me they provide the best sound quality, and “invisible”, and are very comfortable and secure. ◦ TRANSLATION WITH 11 LANGUAGES: This is a great, easy to use feature available only through the app. It splits the phone screen with the bottom in your language and the top in the language you wish to translate. You simply push the mic button and the translated words are read out loud (through the aids) AND the same translated text appears on your phone screen. It worked really well (I included a screen shot from my phone. Note the translation is not continuous so I had to press the mic button whenever there was a pause by the speaking. CON - THE APP: Personally, I do not like when an app is needed to be able to use all the features of a device. My 2 reasons are concerns regarding my personal information security AND the app may be discontinued, the company may abandon the app, the company may go out of business, etc. Here are great items that CANNOT be used without the app per the app: ◦ Auto-Play Translation (a fantastic feature; the last PRO above) ◦ Hearing test (pretty significant) ◦ Short training videos and tasks to learn using the aids ◦ Setting volume levels ◦ Selecting treble (brighter) and bass (deeper) levels ◦ Tinnitus masking (with 22 mostly natural sound choices) ◦ Noise Control (Adaptive, Light, Moderate, Advanced, and Maximum) ◦ “Try” plays different voices to give an idea of your volume level ◦ Change “Modes” (General, Restaurant, Music, TV, and add Modes based on your preferred settings) ◦ Support by email, AI, and an onboard user manual Other hearing aids I have reviewed had a hearing test and the results could be automatically used to change the settings of the aids to match the discovered deficiencies. This app does not have that feature. Also, I have reviewed other hearing aids that had apps that could be used without giving any personal information and I did use them. However, this app requires providing some personal information. INCLUDED: The 2 hearing aids come with a charging / storage case, 13 pair of silicone ear tips, a USB charging cord, cleaning brush / tool, wax cleaning tool, and instructions. OVERALL: These FDA registered hearing aids are near the top of the many hearing aids I have tried and reviewed with quite a few very good features, and solid sound quality. There are devices I will use that have an app to use many of the features provided they don’t require my personal information to be used. Personally, I opt for devices that do not require an app or have an app that can be used without registration. However, for those that are comfortable using apps of this nature, this might not be an issue. At just under $600 US at the time of this review, I would like hearing aids that don’t require an app to use all of the features, that have the newer BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology, and can apply the results of their hearing test to customize the settings. These hearing aids have some great features and quality however, in this higher end OTC price range to me they rate 3.4 stars.

This product exceeded my expectations. It has crystal clear audio and is easy to use. I honestly did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. The unit is small and fits snugly behind my ears without any discomfort. I am totally impressed with this product; it gives me the freedom that I was looking for in with hearing aid benefits. I give this product five stars for sure!

The media could not be loaded. These are great for being over-the-counter and turned out to be far more comfortable than what I was expecting. My hearing loss is fairly minimal but I’m dealing with tinnitus so I was anxious to see how these deal with it and I’m really happy with the results. Build quality is great and they feel high end. Because of the built in controls, you can use these without installing the app on your phone but to get the best experience you’ll definitely need the app. There are so many options/features that I’m still working my way through them but if you know your way around your phone, it’s not so bad. If you’re not as tech savvy, it’d be good to recruit some help so you can take full advantage of these great hearing aids. Recharge is fairly quick and I’m able to squeeze out nearly a full day of use so far. The carry case is a good size without being too big and I can easily carry them in my cargo pocket (I’m looking at you, my fellow Gen X brothers).

I already own the ELEHEAR BEYOND and like it a lot. The Beyond Pro is a big step up. Voices sound way clearer, even when I’m in a crowded spot, and the background noise doesn’t take over. The new music mode is awesome—I can actually enjoy streaming and live music without everything sounding tinny or distorted. Bluetooth connects fast and stays stable, which I appreciate. They’re super comfortable, I can wear them all day without even thinking about it. Battery life is solid too, lasts me the whole day easily. The app is handy for tweaking the sound, and there’s no annoying whistling or feedback. Overall, I’m really happy with these. If you want better clarity and a big boost in sound quality, the Beyond Pro is definitely worth it.
