I am 72 years old and have been wearing prescription hearing aids for more than seven years. In the past few months, I’ve tried two different OTC hearing aids to compare features and sound quality. The Elehear BEYOND Pro instantly separated itself from the rest. They are slightly larger than I expected, but they feel solid, well-built, and the charging case is one of the best-designed cases I’ve ever used. After just a one-hour charge, the hearing aids paired automatically with my phone via Bluetooth, and I was able to take their in-app hearing test right away. I am totally blown away with the Elehear BEYOND Pro. A few days after receiving them, I actually got a call from their customer service team checking in to see if I had any questions. I was shocked to get a call like that—none of the other companies I’ve used have ever done that. They also informed me of several features in the app that I might have missed, including the ability to take the hearing test and have the results submitted electronically to one of their audiologists. Their audiologist can then review your results and create a custom program specifically tailored for your hearing profile. What a wonderful and unexpected opportunity, and something I’ve never experienced with any other OTC or prescription provider. The app itself is extremely well designed. Unlike other hearing aid apps that basically do nothing more than adjust the volume, the Elehear app offers true customization. You can mask tinnitus, fine-tune sound settings, and select tailored modes for different environments—restaurants, watching TV, noisy crowds, and more. The noise reduction filters are excellent and noticeably reduce distractions. With these modes active, voices become clearer and environmental clutter fades into the background. Over the past seven years, I’ve owned prescription hearing aids from Costco and from other vendors. They’ve worked well, but I can honestly say that for the money, the Elehear BEYOND Pro beats them handily. The sound quality is every bit as good—and in several cases, even better—than my prescription aids. The Bluetooth audio performance is fantastic. Music sounds rich and full, and phone calls come through crisp and easy to understand. They are also far better than the other OTC pair I tested before this. These hearing aids are not cheaply made at all. They feel solid, durable, and thoughtfully engineered. The battery life is incredible, and I love the portable charging case because I can take it with me anywhere without worrying about running out of power. I still haven’t tested every advanced feature yet, like translation or extended tinnitus masking routines, but what I’ve experienced so far has exceeded every expectation. Let me say this as plainly as possible: after buying more expensive prescription aids for years and thinking I already had the best, the Elehear BEYOND Pro absolutely crushes the comparison. This is not a 5-star product—this is a 10-star product. These hearing aids are worth every single penny, and then some.

Elehear Beyond Pro hearing aids are my fouth set of hearing aids in about 12 years. I went through two sets of aids purchased through United Health Care with hearing tests by audiologists and high prices. Both sets worked well, OTC hearing aids were really not a thing yet. I replaced the first set and lost the second set (which I found later). After losing the second set I decided to try some OTC hearing aids. There weren't too many brands available at the time. I decided to try Jabra. They came with a phone appointment to help set them up. They worked pretty well. They were bluetooth and connected to my phone, but the audio quality wasn't very good, this was a while ago, bluetooth audio quality is probably better now. Shortly after I bought them I found the second set under my bed and started using them again. Unfortunately one of them stopped working so I went back to the Jabras. Recently I decided to go for a new set of OTCs to see if I could get better quality bluetooth connectivity. There are soooo many OTC brands to chose from now. After researching and reading reviews, I decided on Elehear Beyone Pro. I took them out of the packaging, read the quick setup guide, and put them on. They had a bit of feedback, so I adjusted the volume down at bit and that problem went away. They connected easily to my phone through bluetooth and the bluetooth, audio was exceptional. There are still a lot of settings I can play with, but they work so well with just simply adjusting the volume that I decided to stick with how they are set up right out of the box. Evaluation: easy to set up (took about 15 minutes after a full charge), bluetooth quality (exceptional), ease of use (exceptional). Negatives: only one, description says about 20 hours use before recharging. I need to recharge them in about 17 hours. Not a deal breaker for me.

Edit on 12/4/25: After lots of study and internet reviews, I chose the Elehear Beyond Pro hearing aids in September 25. The Beyond Pro series seemed to have everything I needed, and while I paid $600 for them on Amazon, that price seemed realistically fair. That is mostly why I bought them ... good price for the features provided. After some reasonable instructions, I put them on, made some adjustments with the downloaded phone AP, and tried them out. Mostly, they worked well for the first two months. The volume was boosted in all frequencies, including higher tones. I have lost hearing in higher tones in both ears, and was struggling to hear my wife's voice, forcing her to repeat most everything. I also could no longer hear higher tones/girls on TV, or insects chirping outside at night. The hearing aids clearly helped with that. I now understood my wife and TV females, and picked up outdoor sounds better. Then, problems began. The hearing aids had a terrible feedback, causing the sound of crinkling aluminum foil to occur almost constantly. I was able to tone it down a bit by lowering microphone volume and setting feedback adjustment, but I no longer heard my wife as clearly and she had to repeat things a few times. Since it was past the 30 day return period on Amazon, I just chose to put up with it. Then, almost 2 months after purchase, my left hearing aid quit working. It would connect for maybe 3 minutes, then just turn off. It was as if the battery was dead, but I charged the aids in their case for a full day. Still no change. So, I contacted Elehear and submitted a warranty claim to have the left hearing aid replaced. They agreed to do so, BUT ... they then notified me that it would cost a whopping $40 in shipping. I objected and told them I would not pay it, since it was their hearing aid that broke and it should cost me nothing to get it warranty replaced. They then agreed to wave the charge but they then claimed they had no extra left hearing aids in stock in the U.S. and would have to get it from China. That was over a month ago. I suspected that they were punishing me for objecting to the shipping change by intentionally not sending me a replacement. Anyway, I dropped the rating to a 1 star. A few days later, they sent me a replacement left hearing aid. Great! Except ... it would not connect to Bluetooth. It worked, but I could not control it or change feedback on it using the phone app. I notified them via email. In late November 25, I got an email from their customer service folks apologizing for my troubles and offering me a full refund on the hearing aids, even well after their own 45 day evaluation period. That was nice of them and I did get the refund through Amazon. As requested, I sent back the Beyond Pro aids at their own cost, and I will be trying out another brand. Because they refunded my full purchase and sent me a free shipping label to return the defective ones, I cannot continue to fault their customer service. They did OK by me, so I've boosted the rating to a 3/5. As to the problems I had with the aids, I will leave that to you all to decide.

Two weeks ago, I would have left a glowing review. I'm sad I can't do that now. When I received these a little over a month ago, I was a little unsure. The sound quality seemed not great, they had a real issue with squealing/feedback. About a week after I received them, they pushed a fix for that, and I've loved them. However.. when I first got them, the left hearing aid was a bit finnicky about connecting to the charger. over the course of a bit over a month, it got worse and worse, until for the last week it's basically stopped charging entirely. So, I got in touch with customer service, and they issued me a return/refund so I could reorder. Well, today, the new ones arrived... and the right aid doesn't work! I get occasional spits of static and that's it. Horrible, horrible quality control, apparently. Which is a shame, because they really do work well... when they work.

This is about my 4th pair of hearing aids. I've tried pretty much everything across the spectrum from ultra cheap to Costco's most expensive Resound model. The Elehear Beyond Pro is the first pair that I get a crisp, clear sound at the upper frequencies. However, after only one day of use, I only got 30% overnight charge on the left hearing aid. Not sure why. I called customer service. The rep sent me instructions to reset the charger which solved the problem. While no hearing aids are perfect, these are the best I've worn so far. Great customer service. UPDATE after 7 months of use. The left hearing aid stopped working. I went through the suggested reset to no avail. I ordered a new wire for $70, so we will see if this is the remedy. Things I like about Elehear Pro: Fast battery charge, DIY repair and cleaning, Bluetooth streaming from my phone is great. Things I hate: Not good at all in in noisy rooms. I simply cannot understand someone sitting next to me if others in the room are talking. The app is borderline terrible. Only three channels. The presets for different environments are basically useless. I cannot distinguish any difference in any of them. I had to order locks to keep them in my ear. They would not stay in my ear while chewing food. Feedback squeal: Happens all the time while wearing a heaving coat as the sound bounces off the collar. Quality: Not all that great. Left stopped working after only 7 months. Seriously? Overall, I think these are just so-so. I had great hopes, but the longer I wear them, the more disappointed I've become and I will be looking at alternatives. As the saying goes, 'Your mileage may. vary'

I had high hopes for these hearing aids after reading the reviews. Amazon shipping came sooner than originally stated. I charged them according to the directions and upon using them. The left hearing aid was very scratchy, fast forward to today (4 days later) and the left hearing aid had no audio at all. I will say when I contacted Elehear I spoke with a person and informed them of my issue. She had me do a reset and then fully recharge the hearing aids. After that I tried the hearing aids again with the same issue. After contacting them a second time I was told they would be sending a replacement left hearing aid, but it may take 7-10 days which would mean my hearing would have to go untreated for at least a week. I was told that I would be receiving an updated email which never came. I find this unacceptable from a company that prides itself on quality and customer satisfaction. Having nothing to compare these to I will say the right hearing aid was very clear and the hearing aids themselves seem to be of good quality, however seeing how I am in my return period it will be quicker to return these and purchase a different name brand which would be delivered in 2 days. UPDATE: Received an email this morning stating Elehear is having a new pair shipped from Amazon saving me the hassle of returning and buying a different set. Updated rating to 4 stars for good customer service. UPDATE: Buyer beware, the hearing aids that sit on your ear are larger than other hearing aids and as a result causes pain preventing you from using them. Have tried wearing them for over 30 days hopping the pain would go away but to no avail. While they do improve hearing, the pain caused by the larger piece that sits on the ear make them unbearable. UPDATE: This review is mainly based on the excellent response from customer service. While the hearing aids themselves are very good I couldn’t wear them because of the size. After returning them I was contacted by CS who showed genuine concern over my issue and my complaint was being forwarded to R&D to address the larger size. My review is being upgraded to 5 stars as I have never had a company show so much interest in improving their product.
