I am 72 years old and have been wearing prescription hearing aids for more than seven years. In the past few months, I’ve tried two different OTC hearing aids to compare features and sound quality. The Elehear BEYOND Pro instantly separated itself from the rest. They are slightly larger than I expected, but they feel solid, well-built, and the charging case is one of the best-designed cases I’ve ever used. After just a one-hour charge, the hearing aids paired automatically with my phone via Bluetooth, and I was able to take their in-app hearing test right away. I am totally blown away with the Elehear BEYOND Pro. A few days after receiving them, I actually got a call from their customer service team checking in to see if I had any questions. I was shocked to get a call like that—none of the other companies I’ve used have ever done that. They also informed me of several features in the app that I might have missed, including the ability to take the hearing test and have the results submitted electronically to one of their audiologists. Their audiologist can then review your results and create a custom program specifically tailored for your hearing profile. What a wonderful and unexpected opportunity, and something I’ve never experienced with any other OTC or prescription provider. The app itself is extremely well designed. Unlike other hearing aid apps that basically do nothing more than adjust the volume, the Elehear app offers true customization. You can mask tinnitus, fine-tune sound settings, and select tailored modes for different environments—restaurants, watching TV, noisy crowds, and more. The noise reduction filters are excellent and noticeably reduce distractions. With these modes active, voices become clearer and environmental clutter fades into the background. Over the past seven years, I’ve owned prescription hearing aids from Costco and from other vendors. They’ve worked well, but I can honestly say that for the money, the Elehear BEYOND Pro beats them handily. The sound quality is every bit as good—and in several cases, even better—than my prescription aids. The Bluetooth audio performance is fantastic. Music sounds rich and full, and phone calls come through crisp and easy to understand. They are also far better than the other OTC pair I tested before this. These hearing aids are not cheaply made at all. They feel solid, durable, and thoughtfully engineered. The battery life is incredible, and I love the portable charging case because I can take it with me anywhere without worrying about running out of power. I still haven’t tested every advanced feature yet, like translation or extended tinnitus masking routines, but what I’ve experienced so far has exceeded every expectation. Let me say this as plainly as possible: after buying more expensive prescription aids for years and thinking I already had the best, the Elehear BEYOND Pro absolutely crushes the comparison. This is not a 5-star product—this is a 10-star product. These hearing aids are worth every single penny, and then some.

These are definitely a step up from my previous hearing aids. (I had the Sony ERC-10 hearing aids for the last two years.) I've only had these now for two days, but what a difference! My old Sony ones emphasized the high end frequencies a little too much for my taste. These sound a lot more balanced and even. These connect to bluetooth easily (I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.) My old Sony ones only connected to iPhones. It's very interesting to hear both music playing through these hearing aids as well as the outside world at the same time! Something to get used to. The app is easy to use (there is a little bit of a learning curve). Very intuitive app with a lot of customization features! I used the in app hearing test and sent the results to an audiologist through the app. I'm awaiting the results. They are supposed to make adjustments via the app! Elehear gives you A LOT of ear domes in various styles (closed, open, power and tulip styles). I myself prefer the open dome type, since they produce a more natural sound to my ears. Personal results will definitely vary. You'll have many options to choose from and try out. When you do find the domes that suit you best, they are VERY comfortable! Even the part that goes behind the ear is comfortable. There are times that I forgot that I'm even wearing them! Comfortable even while wearing glasses! If you suffer from mild to moderate hearing loss, GET THESE HEARING AIDS! You'll find out what sounds you've been missing!

Edit on 12/4/25: After lots of study and internet reviews, I chose the Elehear Beyond Pro hearing aids in September 25. The Beyond Pro series seemed to have everything I needed, and while I paid $600 for them on Amazon, that price seemed realistically fair. That is mostly why I bought them ... good price for the features provided. After some reasonable instructions, I put them on, made some adjustments with the downloaded phone AP, and tried them out. Mostly, they worked well for the first two months. The volume was boosted in all frequencies, including higher tones. I have lost hearing in higher tones in both ears, and was struggling to hear my wife's voice, forcing her to repeat most everything. I also could no longer hear higher tones/girls on TV, or insects chirping outside at night. The hearing aids clearly helped with that. I now understood my wife and TV females, and picked up outdoor sounds better. Then, problems began. The hearing aids had a terrible feedback, causing the sound of crinkling aluminum foil to occur almost constantly. I was able to tone it down a bit by lowering microphone volume and setting feedback adjustment, but I no longer heard my wife as clearly and she had to repeat things a few times. Since it was past the 30 day return period on Amazon, I just chose to put up with it. Then, almost 2 months after purchase, my left hearing aid quit working. It would connect for maybe 3 minutes, then just turn off. It was as if the battery was dead, but I charged the aids in their case for a full day. Still no change. So, I contacted Elehear and submitted a warranty claim to have the left hearing aid replaced. They agreed to do so, BUT ... they then notified me that it would cost a whopping $40 in shipping. I objected and told them I would not pay it, since it was their hearing aid that broke and it should cost me nothing to get it warranty replaced. They then agreed to wave the charge but they then claimed they had no extra left hearing aids in stock in the U.S. and would have to get it from China. That was over a month ago. I suspected that they were punishing me for objecting to the shipping change by intentionally not sending me a replacement. Anyway, I dropped the rating to a 1 star. A few days later, they sent me a replacement left hearing aid. Great! Except ... it would not connect to Bluetooth. It worked, but I could not control it or change feedback on it using the phone app. I notified them via email. In late November 25, I got an email from their customer service folks apologizing for my troubles and offering me a full refund on the hearing aids, even well after their own 45 day evaluation period. That was nice of them and I did get the refund through Amazon. As requested, I sent back the Beyond Pro aids at their own cost, and I will be trying out another brand. Because they refunded my full purchase and sent me a free shipping label to return the defective ones, I cannot continue to fault their customer service. They did OK by me, so I've boosted the rating to a 3/5. As to the problems I had with the aids, I will leave that to you all to decide.
