I do not normally take time to do these reviews. However, in this case, I felt compelled to. I needed hearing aids and I tried the tauted $99 type and was very disappointed. I went to the $149 type and was still very disappointed then I went to Elehear for $399 and, WOW, what a difference that made. These are excellent. No squealing noises, very good adjustments and the app holds adjustments ... very fast Bluetooth connection and they immediately began to feel good in my ears and in my hearing.

These are very nice hearing aids overall with a significant drawback to me. Here are my observations. PROS ◦ THESE ARE TRUE FDA CLASSIFIED HEARING AIDS: These hearing aids are actually classified as “HEARING AID, AIR-CONDUCTION WITH WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY, OVER THE COUNTER” on the official US FDA website; I did a Google search for “Establishment Registration & Device Listing” (without quotes), and clicking on the first result took me there. On the next page under “Search by Company or Device Name”, in the “Company Name” box I entered “ELEHEAR” (which is the manufacturer’s name), and pressed the Enter key. Then I clicked on the 1st (and only) bullet point (which includes “RIC 03” (which is the actual model number found inside the lid of the storage / charging case), and the page with the official FDA classification appears. ◦ SOUND QUALITY: To me these hearing aids have very good sound quality; near but not quite what I consider to be close to life-like. ◦ NO FEEDBACK: I did not experience feedback (squealing / screeching). TIP: make sure to take the time to test different sizes and types of the included silicone ear domes AND keep hands away from the microphones (above and below the toggle control button). This helps eliminate any possible feedback sounds. ◦ NOISE REDUCTION: Initially and very briefly there were some very low sounds I heard which may have been the AI adjusting. After that the noise cancellation seemed to work fine. ◦ CONTROLS: Each aid has one toggle control button; they work well and easily. The upper side of the button increase volume (20 levels) and the lower button lowers volume. The upper side of the button can manually turn on the aids by holding it 3 seconds, and can power them off holding the power button 5 seconds. ◦ BLUETOOTH: Connecting via Bluetooth was easy after first downloading the app. I like (and consider it a must) that via Bluetooth these aids can be used to listen to music, take calls, stream, etc., directly through my cell phone. The music quality was also excellent to me (bearing in mind I am not an audiophile). Note: ◦ BATTERY: These are listed as providing 20 hours of use with a 2.5-hour charge, and the case can be used to provide 4 more charges without being plugged in (for an additional 100 hours). To clarify, charging the aids in the case provides a total of 100 hours of use; that is on the high end of battery capability. ◦ WEARING THE AIDS: It is important to make sure to pick the correct size and style of silicone ear tip to use (18 are included). I prefer this BTE (behind the ear) RIC (receiver in canal) style of hearing aid. In general, to me they provide the best sound quality, and “invisible”, and are very comfortable and secure. CON - THE APP: Personally, I do not like when an app is needed to be able to use all the features of a device. My 2 reasons are concerns regarding my personal information security AND the app may be discontinued, the company may abandon the app, the company may go out of business, etc. Here are great items that CANNOT be used without the app (per the online app description and the Amazon listing): ◦ Fine-tune frequencies ◦ Personal profile ◦ Tinnitus masking ◦ Ability to adjust gain levels for unique hearing situations ◦ Auto-Play Translation ◦ Speech Enhance ◦ Auto Enhance ◦ Frequency adjustment ◦ Sound directionality ◦ Environmental profiles ◦ 4 Scene modes (different situations) I reviewed another pair of hearing aids yesterday that had an app that could be used without giving any personal information and I did use it. However, this app requires providing personal information. INCLUDED: The 2 hearing aids come with a compact sized charging / storage case, 9 pair of silicone ear tips, a USB charging cord, cleaning brush / tool, wax cleaning tool, and instructions. OVERALL: These FDA classified hearing aids are near the top of the many hearing aids I have tried and reviewed with quite a few very good features, and solid sound quality. There are devices I will use that have an app to use many of the features provided they don’t require my personal information to be used. Personally, I opt for devices that do not require an app or have an app that can be used without registration. However, for those that are comfortable using apps of this nature, these are worth consideration (just under $400 US at the time of this review).

I am biased because my hearing aids are around ~2000$ and are profesionaly tuned by an audiologist. I have been using hearing aids for many years, and I have a pretty severe case of hearing loss... So let's say that the bar is pretty high for this review! Showing some pictures as a comparison I was torn between 4 and 5 stars for this product, but I settled for 5 stars considering the low price ($399 at the time of writing) which is amazing considering the feature set and the fact that it really works! These are slightly larger than my other hearing aids, and this reduces comfort quite a bit. That said, they are small - and my ears are small, too. So I anticipate that the size will be OK for most people. Setup was easy, I took them out, put them in my ears, and worked my way through the setup. There was a firmware upgrade which I did (took 10-15mn) then they worked. There are some settings in the app, for the hearing aid function, but I wish there were more - for instance, I wish I could input my response curve for each ear to have a custom hearing compensation. But the only setting available is the volume for each ear, and the "tone" for each ear ("bright' or "deep", I think they translate the frequency range up or down). I was pleased, and frankly surprised, to see that they work! We did some testing with a relative speaking around 10-20ft. I could clearly hear the difference with the hearing aid option turned on or off, it is pretty amazing. Not as good as my other brand but they cost an order of magnitude more! This is an affordable option for people who cannot afford more expensive one, or who have mild hearing loss, or, as a backup for the more severe cases like myself. The bluetooth feature is also great, it's like having a superpower - you can watch stuff on your phone with full audio, and nobody around you will know... don't tell my boss! The base has its own battery and can charge the hearing aid a few time which is convenient when traveling. It also has USB C charging, so no extra exotic charger is required especially if you have a USB C phone already. Speaking of the phone, Bluetooth connection works fine and is stable, no issues at all. Super pleased with this product. Technology came a long way! A few years back I tried some "cheap" hearing aids and they were basically toys. These are really usable.
