I was pleasantly surprised by this alarm clock because it has tons of very well designed features. Before I list all the great stuff, I should mention that I was misled a bit by the seller's second paragraph where they describe the 'Large Display' as a '6 inch display'. Apparently, I focused in on that and expected a much larger product, however, in re-reading the description I also see where the seller further describes it as a '1.4-inch height LED display'. Fortunately, I'm not blind enough to actually need a 6" display so I'm very happy with this device. Now for the good stuff: - Dimmer is on a slide switch so you can customize the light level to exactly what you want. It goes from very bright to very dim and anywhere in between. - The white bar across the top is a night light. Just a tap on it and a bright light turns on. A second tap sets it to a dimmer level. Third tap is off. - The alarm has a Hi or Low volume option. It is a very insistent alarm; the beeps get faster and more annoying if it continues to be ignored so would be great for a teenager. To snooze you smack the white bar (night light) to get 9 minutes more sleep, but to turn it off you must push a button on the back so the likelihood of accidentally shutting it off is very low. - Built-in USB charging port is nice to have - I also like that the backup power supply requires two AAA batteries, instead of the more common (and more expensive) 9-volt ... show more

    • Very basic, but pretty easy to set
This is a very simple, traditional digital alarm clock. No bells-and-whistles on this one, but it is easy to set, and easy to use. The display is bright, and in the dark the red light is easy to see, but in brighter light conditions it could be a little harder. It's not unreadable under bright light, just not as clear to the eye as it is in the dark. Red light is used on alarm clocks and the like because at night, red light does not reactivate our brain and is less disturbing to the circadian rhythm as white light or blue light, so that is why red is such a common digital clock display colour. However, I have run into the problem with my neurodivergent nanny-charges that red light actually activates their fear response at night (they are both in the clutches of hypnogogic and hypnopompic episodes, so their fear response is especially strong at night), and I have had to look for displays that have different light colours other than red. If you are in the same boat, there are a lot more options now than there were just a few years ago, and we seem to have success with adjustable displays that have an active ombre effect that runs through the rainbow of colours and doesn't linger on any one too long. This is sitting in our mud-room, to help the time-blind kids understand what time it is when they are getting ready for school and dragging their feet. It works as I need it to: bright, easy to read, simple to set, and in the correct room where it won't disturb the kids. I have tried some digital alarm clocks that looked cool, but didn't have enough buttons to set the time properly, for aesthetic reasons, so they just ended up being frustrating and useless as a result. This one...no such problem. As I just wanted a simple alarm clock, that works, and that is easy to set and use. And this definitely delivers. Its very easy to use, and has the proper buttons needed to set the time, and set the alarm, and understand what is going on. So if I am sleepy and trying to set an alarm...I don't have to take out a booklet and try to read it in the dark, as with some other alarm clocks. Its so easy I just looked at the instructions briefly...and was able to do it from then on with no problem as its extremely simple. So definitely happy with this, and the adjustable brightness of the time in red is super useful too, as is the easy to press "snooze" button on the top. If you value simplicity, you'll like this alarm clock. It is a throwback to an earlier era both in looks and functionality. It lacks almost all the bell the whistles of contemporary alarm clocks. For example: 1) You can't program it to go off at different times on different days of the week 2) It doesn't have a companion alarm so only 1 alarm per day is possible unless the alarm is reset 3) It will not interface to an mp3 player so you can't awake to your favorite music 4) It doesn't have a radio so you can't tune in music and talk-show stations Despite the lack of features above, the alarm clock has some qualities that make it desirable, including: 1) Ease of setup and use 2) 9-volt battery provides backup power 3) Snooze button doubles as a night light with 2 different intensities (low and high, or completely off) 4) USB-A connector for tablet/phone charging 5) LEDs intensity can be altered anywhere from very bright to completely off with a slider control on the back All-in-all I like this alarm because it's so easy to use that I don't worry about not setting it correctly and missing an important wake-up time. It's cheap and reliable, which get it 5 stars in my book. My only issue with it is that it feels like it is kind of cheaply built so I wonder if it will last over time, but so far I'm happy with it. ... show more
