  • Prettly light duty construction
Color: Black + Gray
This is the second one that I bought. The first one lasted 2 years before the H-channel that connects the two panels buckled (caused most likely by sun exposure).

  • Difficult to assemble
Color: Black + Gray
Very difficult to assemble. It took two of us and a lot of four letter curses to finally get it together. I finally finished it tonight. Six hours later we were ready to send it back multiple times.

  • No More Standing in the Rain Looking for My Keys
Color: White + Gray
Picked this up to install over our side door because the roof design had this wonderful feature where all the rainwater seemed determined to land directly on me while I stood there trying to unlock the door. Nothing quite ends the day like getting soaked while holding groceries and searching for the right key. This awning solved that problem immediately. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. It provides enough coverage to keep rain off the doorway, cuts down on direct sunlight, and gives the entrance a cleaner, more finished appearance. The polycarbonate material lets light through without making the area underneath feel dark, and it has held up well to normal weather so far. Installation was straightforward, and once mounted it feels secure and stable. It's one of those upgrades that isn't particularly exciting until the first time you're standing underneath it during a downpour, completely dry, and wondering why you didn't install one years ago. Simple, practical, and worth every penny for the convenience alone. ... show more

  • Wind Grade 4 = Light Breeze
Color: White + Gray
You know you are dealing with a high quality item when the boast that it provides Grade 4 Wind Protection loudly and proudly in the listing. I'd never heard of a wind grade rating, so I did what any curious fella would do and I looked it up. Wind grade 4 pertains to something called the Beaufort scale. And if you look at grade 4 on the Beaufort scale, it classifies it as a "moderate breeze that blows dust and loose paper and is capable of moving small branches". So you can rest easy knowing that this awning will stand up to a breeze that can move a sheet of paper and cause the small branches in a tree to bristle in the wind. Truthfully, I'd question if it is actually sturdy enough to take on the elusive 4 on the Beaufort scale. Because this thing has all the rigidity of a cheap shipping box. In fact, the box it came in weighs almost as much as the awning. Aside from the obvious structural shortcomings, it was also an absolute bear to assemble. There aren't a ton of parts, but bad design and worse machining make sure that fitting the parts together while trying to put a bend on the panels to the proper radius to fit in the groove is a lesson in humility. I'm not even going to bother installing this thing where I had originally planned. Why even bother putting holes in the siding for something that won't hold up to anything above the force of a Lasko 12" Oscillating Fan? I put it up for free on FB marketplace thinking that maybe someone will have use for it with a warning about how flimsy it is and thus far the only people to respond are from India and trying to get me to Venmo them $500 so they can send me $5000 back. I imagine that the dumpster is the destination in this awning's near future. I got it free to try through the Vine program and I still feel ripped off. So don't go and pay actual money for it or you are going to be left with one serious case of buyer's remorse. The one star it gets is only because Amazon won't let me give it zero. ... show more

  • It was everything I expected

  • Very lightweight and already dented
Color: White + Gray
We were planning on installing this awning over our front door to provide some protection from rain, snow, and sun but after assembling it, we decided not to for now. It looks functional and it does block the sun, but we are not sure if it will hold up to any amount of wind or snow. The unit is extremely lightweight. The supports are made of ABS plastic and look inexpensive. The panels are made of double walled polycarbonate, and the connecting pieces are thin plastic and aluminum. Putting the awning together was frustrating. The double-walled polycarbonate panels didn’t want to slide into the connector pieces and kept catching on everything. If even a small amount of it slipped out it was impossible to get back in without starting completely over. The connectors and panels are supposed to slip into the supports, but it is at a very specific curve and the connectors did NOT want to fit into the overly tight holes in the supports. The instructions were also abysmal. There is no explanation as to how to connect each of the pieces together, just a basic diagram of what pieces go where. It would be helpful to have an explanation or suggestions on how to do things. The entire unit connects to the house using the included 4 expansion bolts, which do not seem like they would be enough to keep the unit from ripping out in any wind more than a slight breeze. The placement of the bolts is fixed, which means it might not line up with studs and extra blocking might be required. Finally, there was a significant amount of damage to the unit. There is a piece completely broken off of one of our supports, the aluminum connector was bent, and the polycarbonate panels had many scratches and dents, so the overall quality is mediocre. ... show more

  • Does not seem to be structurally strong enough for hurricanes
Color: White + Gray
I really wanted this awning to work because the gray with white edge design perfectly matches my home’s exterior. Unfortunately, the quality just didn’t meet expectations. The cover is made from a very thin plastic that doesn’t feel durable, and the brackets are also a flexible plastic rather than sturdy metal. Living in Tampa, where we deal with strong storms and hurricane-force winds every year, this simply isn’t something I could get behind spending my time to install it —let alone rely on long-term. I’ve purchased other awnings with solid, thick metal brackets that have held up great over time, so the difference in construction was immediately noticeable. This one felt too flimsy right out of the box, and I ultimately decided not to install it at all because I didn’t trust it would last through even one storm season. While it looks nice aesthetically, I would not recommend this product if you live in an area with heavy wind or severe weather. ... show more

  • Rain or Shine: SIMHOMSTOR Polycarbonate Door Canopy Awning
Color: White + Gray
The gap between the front door and the elements is surprisingly consequential — arriving home in a downpour while fumbling with keys is a small misery that adds up. SIMHOMSTOR's polycarbonate door canopy addresses exactly that: a rigid, weatherproof overhang that keeps the doorstep dry and shields against sun glare without blocking the light that makes an entrance feel welcoming. The gray-and-white colorway threads a neutral line that works with most exterior aesthetics. Pros • Polycarbonate panel is durable and UV-resistant • Shields doorstep effectively from rain and direct sun • Gray/white color combination suits most home exteriors • Clear panel option lets in natural light while blocking weather • Reasonably straightforward wall-mount installation Cons • Requires drilling and wall anchoring — not tool-free • Width may be insufficient for wider double-door entries • Bracket hardware quality could be heavier gauge • No gutter or drainage channel built in • May accumulate debris in heavy leaf-fall areas Verdict: A practical, attractive solution to the exposed doorstep problem. The polycarbonate material balances weather resistance with aesthetics better than solid metal canopies, and the dimensions suit most standard residential doorways. Use appropriate wall anchors for your exterior material — the canopy is only as secure as its mounting. ... show more
