So I fluctuated on which brand to buy. Selling point was Amazon offered 2 for a savings of $80 when buying togather. Selling point was the new version is smallest of all. We had just returned from dry camping in desert. The below inverter / generator would not run either of my AC units. Only basic 110 items on inverter / generator. Package arrived, I downloaded the instruction sheet for Dometic Brisk Air II - 15k, very easy. First unit install, I was nervous. Took my time. Did a few mods as the Brisk Air II is tight area. Not much real estate to mount. I did my research on YouTube so I knew what to expect. Be carefull when routing wires as the capacitor cover / box is very close to fan blades. Most instructions / videos show bringing wires into housing on back throught existing knockout. I opted to drill a new hole with a HFT step drill and install the plastic bushing. I also used plastic cable sheath to keep wires togather. (See pic) The instructions say to use the terminal ends they supply, which are yellow. I opted to use my own since the wire is only 14 ga. I understand, parts bag is universal. Don't know why, but they supply 1 right angle terminal end / dog bone extension for use on compressor, but you need 2 more on the capacitor. They actually include them in parts bag. But I'm skeptical on my crimp on these (time will tell). Be carefull running red & brown under motor. Make sure they are in knockouts so they don't hit fan blades. After wiring red & brown, used a piece of plastic sheath where they could touch the copper tubes. And zip tied red & brown to existing wire loom. Got it wired in, reconnected, no problems. 1 hr - first install, 30 min - second install. Felt skilled by the Second one. Started up, followed instruction procedures, no problems. After 30 min pulled out my dual fuel 4000 Firman inverter / generator with 30 amp rv plug. Starts up, runs 1 AC no problem. Did this for each AC unit individually, no issues. Rig is 50 amp. Plugged in my 50 to 30 dog bone. Plugged in 30 amp cord to hard wire 30 amp RV plug at house. Both AC worked individually and then the test. Still on house hard wire 30 amp RV plug, started and ran BOTH ACs at same time. Woo hoo. Next test, couldn't resist, used 15 amp household plug with 10 ga extension cord, started 1 AC, ran fine. Another Woo Hoo. A lil expensive, but cost is worth it to make wife happy with AC when dry camping or short overnight stops. BTW, my rig is 2017 Cougar 288 RLS (34 ft), 2 AC units. 1 in main area, other in bedroom. Highly recommend.

Bought 2 Soft starts for our 5th wheel 2 years ago. Instruction and wire diagram are excellent. Product has flawlessly worked for 2 years now. This summer (2024) camping outside of San Diego in mid to high 90’s, our run capacitor blew it’s top off (don’t wish this on anyone, oil was everywhere in the wire box). In the process it removed wires off the start and run capacitors. Called Soft Start and talked to Dan in support. He walked me through (could not see my laptop in the sun on the roof) the wiring placement for both capacitors. Was getting a little frustrated and Dan told me to slow down and take my time, that he was staying with me until we were done and I had started my AC unit. It did and my wife is (was the back AC for living space the 15k of course) one happy camper again. Dan even went on his laptop because I still had a green wire (ground) dangling and found my AC unit and told me the male end was in the upper left hand corner. I would have never found it. The fact is it didn’t even pertain to the Soft Start unit and he still helped me out. Extremely happy with the Soft Start unit and cannot begin to express how happy I am with Dan and SS Support.

Just had these installed. Tested by powering up the 2 AC units with our Champion 4500 inverter 30 amp generator with a 50-30 amp dogbone. Turned on one AC, initially showed "SHED" meaning low power, but the AC started. After the "SHED" status went away, and it did quickly, started the second AC. Same result, "SHED" for low power and then the AC started. Both ACs ran full strength, cold air coming from vents. Disconnected from the generator and plugged back into shore power, both started up immediately, no "SHED" status. This is a must when boondocking at Walmart, Cracker Barrel or where ever. We pulled over last summer on a trip due to heavy traffic and could only run one of our three AC units. It never cooled down inside. We have a 43 foot 5th wheel. We generally only need 2 AC units to cool down the inside, so for us, the third is mainly a built in spare. RV AC units should be built with this, but they are not. Until then, these are a must buy if you are not stationary. Even then, if there is a power outage and you only have a 30 amp generator, you'll be glad you installed these!

Work as intended, wish I actually measured before and after, but I've run a single AC all summer on a 20a shared receptacle. Running both AC units tripped the breaker, but the setup is not dedicated to the camper. I can run both AC units off my 20a dedicated pool receptacle if the pool pump is not connected. AC units are quieter and do not seem to work as hard off the start. Works as advertised, first unit took about 30min to install, second about 15min once I figured out the process

Installation was pretty simple. Took about one hour each unit. Went to a RV park for a week and ran both a/c.s on a 30 amp power supply. Never tripped breaker. Weather was a little cool, but still worked great. I was impressed and so was the little woman. Wished I would have done this sooner. Now I'm ready for a real test later this summer when its way hotter down in South Texas where it's hotter than the Devils house and humidity like most people don't see. Highly recommend it

Directions are not easy to find, but once located they’re easy to follow. They give you a bag of parts that you won’t need. The sticky backing was impossible to peel. Ended up using self tapping screws to mount it.

After looking at options, I purchased two for my AC units on our Fleetwood Pace Arrow 33D. They work great an no more ”Brown outs” on my electrical panel caused by the startup surge. It only took me a couple hours to install startup surge to finish.
