  • Its enough to add 50 miles in a 12 hour charge - for a car with a large 100kw battery
Size: 16A NEMA 5-15
Good value for the money. Was deciding on level 1 vs. level 2 charger. I was given a level 2 from the dealer when I leased my 2025 Dodge Daytona Charger but it would cost $3.500 to upgrade my electrical to handle a 48 amp charger. I just need to add a 20 amp circut for this one and it puts about 50 miles on the battery in 12 hours which is plenty for me. If we drive somewhere far during the week, I can get fully charged over the weekend. Only charge during off-peak which is nights and weekends. ... show more

  • Solid charger
Has worked very well for charging my Tesla Model 3 (with J1772 to NACS adapter). Original device had a malfunction, but they replaced it and it has been working great since.

  • Perfect for my needs
Picked this up after recently buying a used Cadillac ELR. The 12 amp portable charger that comes with the ELR (same as the Chevy Volt) takes up to 12 hours to charge the small battery from 0 to full. Not a huge deal, charging it overnight isn’t an issue for me, but I was getting fairly tired of unpacking and stowing the portable charger daily (I know, 1st world problem). So after some looking around decided to give this small charger a look since I don’t exactly need anything big or powerful. Getting a 10 30 NEMA receptacle installed was pretty simple, small investment with an electrician and thankfully my house breaker panel had plenty of space and ability to handle the double pole breaker that connected to the receptacle. I kept it close to the panel to save on expense and everything worked out well once it was installed (see pictures). Once the charger arrived installing all the pieces was super simple, I mounted everything to the studs on either side of my electrical panel after some fiddling and measuring (I got the 25 foot version, where I have it mounted lets me park the car in the garage or either side of the driveway and still reach the driver’s side charge port on my ELR), I got it all together, plugged it in and checked the myCadillac app to see how long the charge would take (it was at 0). 4 hours I actually got in the car to check the dashboard and confirmed the app report. It cut the charge time by 2/3rds. Couldn’t be happier with that result. The plug is snug and secure in the car and the cable is nice and stout but easy to coil up and hang with the handy little hang hook. This is billed as a portable charger but the nice case and box that came with it will likely reside in my garage and the charger itself will stay on my wall. The portable charger in the car is adequate for traveling and there’s always the gas engine in the car so I’m more than happy with this small investment. One oddity, the charger itself only had one mount point at the top which seemed a bit odd and extending the cable caused the charger to flop around on the wall a bit. I solved it by mounting a single point conduit clamp on the wall to hold the cable down. It’s for sure not a deal breaker, and you may not even ever want to hang it up, but I did. Also the included screws that came with it worked, but I didn’t like how short they were so I used longer drywall screws to screw everything into the walls. The pictures show when I have the charger connected to my car and how I stow it while it’s not in use. I really thought the plug holster was a great idea so the plug tip itself isn’t flopping around somewhere. The screw holes line up with the mounting plate with the hang hook but I wanted the plug higher on the wall so I separated them. Great item, very happy with it. And it came with a one year warranty. Edit: no idea why the pictures are sideways, I tried uploading them twice and then switched to my iPad. They were always turned. Tilt your head to the right. ... show more

  • It works
Size: 16A NEMA 5-15
If you don't mind slow charging, it works fine. I get about 3 miles of range for every hour on the charger in a 15 amps outlet.

  • Best Value - Easy Operation - Not Overly Complicated
Most (if not all) EVs manufactured in the past five years have a "time of charge" feature built into the software system and an app for your phone so you can monitor and control many aspects of your car's operations, including charging. So having a complex EVSE with "time delay" or even "control by our app" features is a duplicating what you already have in your car and on your phone in most cases. This is where the MEGEAR EVSE comes into play. While it DOES have a time delay feature, that is easily disabled by setting the delay to ZERO (0). The only other adjustment is the maximum output (in amps) of the charger. Again, that is a couple of easy button pushes on the front of the unit. Charging the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV is as simple as configuring the software to start and stop charging, then plugging in the MEGEAR EVSE. I have been using this unit for about a week (so far) and I must say that it is better than the last EVSE I bought from a different company. Time will tell on how it holds up... If there are any changes, I will update this review. But so far...so good! ... show more
