I bought this SSD on September 9th and I've been extremely happy with it ever since. The SN8100 is ridiculously fast and having 4TB of storage is honestly a huge upgrade. Games, programs, and files load incredibly quickly, and I haven't had any issues with it at all. It also runs great in my system and has been completely reliable so far. For a PCIe Gen 5 SSD, I'm really impressed with how well it performs. The extra storage is especially nice since I don't have to constantly worry about running out of space. Just what I Needed, The SN8100 2T NVMe SSD is fast and definitely doesn’t disappoint either. The Installation is super easy as I’m sure most of you know. I definitely think the on sale price was great for the value as well. The Design is perfect for adding heat sinks if you didn’t want to spend lots more on the one they offer. Western Digital is continuing to do what they always do. Excellent products at reasonable prices. I bought this to put into a new PC I bought when I was forced to move to Windows 11. It was a super easy install and setup. It was completely compatible. I had no issues with heat resistance or storage capacity. It's RAM so it doesn't need formatted. Nice and fast NVME SSD, and cooler running upgrade from the Crucial T-705

My two year old 2 TB Crucial T-705 SSD went South on me recently, so I had to get a replacement. I decided to go with this WD_Black SN8100 NVME SSD, and I have no regrets. I got 14 of WD_Black SN8100 4TB NVMe SSD - PCIe 5.0 .For seven laptops,because samsung wanted to make money on its own 9100 memory. Samsung maid thing like 974 B dollars. And the WD Black 8100 4TB GEN5 WENT UP ,DOWN,UP-UP,DOWN TO MID RANG. I watch a web page called parts picker. Nice site. Amazon let me buy two at of time . But with plenty of space in between them, and some times just one a mouth at a time. Hey don't worry the stock is just fine. All of mine are in GEN 4. For me two things madder copying quality with a little speed.I have had fast copying and crap photos and story line that go with it.Half of it would be gone. IT GETS PRETTY BAD WHEN 653.000 LINES WITH WORDS,PHOTOS,JUST DIDN'T GET THERE. And its called Data Loss ,Cost me money.Other people have been having the same thing. Well my rigs ,and i mean all run 7356-read, 7043-7102 write. All seven laptop run really cool 21-24 Celsius temps. I have had all the socket 0 in each laptop run for hours like hands across America link up doing code. I am glad i haven't got Samsung 9100, but i don't known either and i sleep fine. I hope you are having the same blessing as i am with them. And after the jobs are done, I will take out each one, put them in there box. And put back in the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB GEN 4 for daily use. Its money. You can't take with you. P.S. I DON'T CARE FOR 5090,6000 GPU. We should of had gen 7-8-9 ram by now. Go back and do some reading. That to was about the money. Realllly fast! Amazing!

First off, for someone reading this review that may not be fully aware, do NOT buy this hard drive if you have an older or more cost-efficient motherboard that only has up to PCIe Gen4 capability, as it will not allow you to achieve the manufacturer's target speeds. This is a PCIE Gen 5 NVMe SSD, which means it is made to pump with the latest PCIe Gen5 technology to maximize throughput. My Gaming Rig Build: I have an MSI MEG X670E ACE motherboard in a full MSI build prioritized for gaming, with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core CPU with all performance cores. I went this route becuase WD Black NVMe SSD's were/are arguably more optomized for performance gaming over the Samsung Pro's, but you cannot go wrong with a Samsung Pro SSD either. I originally ran (2) WD Black SN850X PCIe Gen4 SSD's in the build, as PCIe Gen5 SSD's were still new at that time, so I wanted to wait until they were more mainstream, tested, and the kinks were worked out. I finally decided to clone my primary boot drive (Using Acronis True Image for Sandisk) and upgrade to this one, and it is literally double the speed. Using Blackmagic's Disk Speed Test for Comparison w/ 5GB loading: - WD Black SN850X PCIe Gen4 - 5,200 MB/s Write and 5,250 MB/s Read (Avg. rounded up) - WD Black SN8100 PCIe Gen 5 - 10,500 MB/s Write and 10,200 MB/s Read (Avg. rounded up) The results speak for themselves. I would assume that even newer PCIe Gen5 motherboards with the latest CPU's can get more performance out of this drive, but it is literally double the speed of it's fastest predecessor the SN850X. So far, it is stable and zero issues. Thermals also running around 82-degrees Farenheit right now on the SN8100, as my Gen5 SSD slot has a dedicated heat sink and the drive is fully exposed to the open case. ... show more
