Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews, the Silicon Power NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 SSD seems to be a wise upgrade for your computer. • The Perfect Storage Match for the Jetson Orin Nano – Stable and Responsive
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
When building out a developer kit like the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, the choice of storage is critical. Since the Orin Nano relies on external NVMe for its primary OS and data storage, you need a drive that is reliable and handles the constant read/write cycles of an AI development environment. I installed this Silicon Power 1TB NVMe as the main drive for my Orin Nano, and it has performed flawlessly. Ideal Performance for Edge AI While this is a Gen3x4 drive, it is perfectly suited for the Orin Nano’s architecture. You don’t need the extreme heat and cost of a Gen4 drive for this application; instead, you want consistent throughput for streaming data from cameras and processing logs. I’ve been using this drive to store large datasets for license plate recognition and custom AI models, and the boot times and app launches are near-instant. Thermal Stability in Compact Enclosures One of the best things about this specific Silicon Power model is its thermal management. Developer kits often live in small, sometimes fanless enclosures. This drive stays remarkably cool even under a sustained load, which is vital for preventing thermal throttling of the Jetson module itself. It’s a low-profile, "set it and forget it" component that doesn't require a bulky aftermarket heatsink to stay within safe operating temperatures. Reliability for Professional Use In a business or development setting, a drive failure means lost time and lost data. This drive was recognized immediately by the Jetson's BIOS and took the JetPack installation without a single hiccup. The 1TB capacity provides more than enough "breathing room" for multiple Docker containers, deep learning frameworks, and localized data storage without having to constantly manage disk space. Final Thoughts If you are kitting out a Jetson Orin Nano or a similar single-board computer, this drive is a fantastic value. It provides the right balance of speed, thermal efficiency, and capacity for professional technical projects. It’s a rock-solid workhorse that lets you focus on your code rather than your hardware. ... show more

  • Decent Quality - May be finicky in enclosures
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
I tried this in an enclosure as a backup on a Mac (M2). Formatting the drive as APFS encrypted seemed to work, but the drive died when transferring over 30 GB, so it ended up as a big headache. After several frustrating attempts, I tried it in a different enclosure, and it seemed to work fine. Other NVMe SSDs have not seemed so particular in the past. Unless your use case is similar, this should work for you (and if you try it as an external, you might try different enclosures). ... show more

  • Fast, Affordable Storage Upgrade
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
This 1TB NVMe SSD is a great way to add fast storage to a compatible PC without spending a fortune. Installation is straightforward, and the compact M.2 2280 form factor makes it easy to fit into a modern motherboard. The drive provides noticeably faster boot times and application loading compared with a traditional hard drive, and it works well for everyday computing, gaming, and general file storage. The PCIe Gen3 interface is also a good match for older systems that don't support newer Gen4 drives. Overall, this is a solid budget-friendly SSD that offers plenty of storage, quick performance, and an easy installation. A good choice for upgrading an older PC or adding additional storage to a newer build. ... show more

  • Great for price!
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
Great budget option & super easy to install. However, I do wish it would've brang its own screw. Mounting it is as easy as inserting it ans installing the screw (which they didn't provide). However, you do have to allocate space onto it manually. Which is fine but can be confusing for some. It is a fast M.2. Doesn't really make noise. ... show more

  • Half a year in, with my OS installed on this drive and it still is kicking!
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
Had to get a new NVMe SSD since my old one died, and this one was at the price I could afford at the time... It works and has been reliable for my Windows OS install so far for the last 6 months, and I dont think I will encounter any issues as well. NVMe speeds, with the storage capacity, at (MOST IMPORTANTLY) a great price! If you are looking for a budget option, I will say this is a great reliable option ... show more

  • Looks professional, well priced
Capacity: 1TB Style: SSD
For a M.2 NVMe drive, I like that the packaging is very small & lightweight. It's also a plus that relevant technical info is displayed on the package rather than drawings of racing cars and rockets for example. This shows that the product is also made with power-users in mind thus a simple, clear package print. For the SMART capability it's somehow not seen by all Windows programs, some can get it and some can't. Perhaps the drive must be physically plugged into the real motherboard to get it everywhere (I plugged it into a USB adapter). For the details it's a 512-bytes physical sector size, so it's best to also make sure that your partitions match it (512-bytes chunk/cluster-size), and I don't think that 512-bytes is at all a problem for any M.2 drive anyway. The packaging also says Supports NVMe 1.3, but the drive appears to support the newer NVMe 1.4 as well. So it supports both NVMe 1.3 & NVMe 1.4 (it's still Gen3x4, but NVMe 1.4 itself cans still be used). The drive supports SMART, TRIM & VolatileWriteCache. Another thing worth knowing about is that for another drive model the shipments were sometimes shipped without temperature sensor so a static value was returned always. There were two versions and either of the two were selected at random for shipping. I don't know if it's the case for this NVMe model, but it would be much better to just always ship the temperature sensor-enabled versions always. Otherwise it's hard to know when the drive needs to take a break due to heat (which cans happen while doing I/O-heavy stuff, like mass-copying or intensive random reads for gaming). For the price it's a rare find, this product is priced neutrally, neither too low nor too high. Perfect price-match for getting hold of a 1TB NVMe drive nowadays. More (basic) drive info: Disk geometry: Cylinders: 124519 Tracks/Cylinder: 255 Sectors/Track: 63 Bytes/Sector: 512 Total disk sectors: 0 Logical sector size: 512 Physical sector size: 512 Media rotation rate: N/A Buffer size: N/A ECC size: N/A The rest wasn't able to be reliably acquired over my USB adapter. However it's worth noting that 'Trusted Computing' is unsupported - good news, it was rather 'anti-user computing' anyway. Therefore this NVMe drive won't agree to work against you for 'trusted' purposes. This product is one the cheaper 1TB NVMe drives, and yet it matches a pretty good quality alike any higher-priced one. ... show more
