  • Fast, perfect for gaming
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 4TB
The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB with the built-in heatsink was a huge storage upgrade in my Rog Xbox Ally X. Installation was simple, and the heatsink fits perfectly without blocking anything in the motherboard. Performance-wise, this SSD is extremely fast. I considered using a microSD card instead of this but the the microSD card won’t support AAA games. With this SSD card I have installed multiple AAA games and still have storage room for installing future games. Extremely happy with the investment. The best part is the temperature control. Thanks to the built-in heatsink, the drive stays cool even during long gaming sessions. I haven’t had any thermal throttling or drops in speed. If you need lots of space and top performance for gaming handheld Rog Xbox Ally X—this SSD is definitely worth it. It’s one of the best upgrades. Pros: • Very fast read/write speeds • Built-in heatsink keeps temperatures low • Easy installation • Quiet and reliable • Plenty of storage for modern games and apps Cons: • Higher price than some alternatives, but the performance makes up for it ... show more

  • Blazing-fast Gen4 SSD that runs cool, perfect for PS5 & PC
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 2TB
I bought the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB with heatsink to add fast storage without messing around with aftermarket cooling, and it absolutely delivers. Install was straightforward (standard M.2 2280), and the built-in heatsink is a big plus for tight spaces like the PS5 expansion bay or compact PC builds. Performance feels instant: games load noticeably quicker, large file transfers are snappy, and everything just feels more responsive. The drive also stays stable under heavier use thanks to the heatsink, which helps avoid throttling and keeps performance consistent. Pros Extremely fast PCIe Gen4 performance (great for gaming + heavy workloads) Integrated heatsink = easy, clean install (especially for PS5) Solid build quality and reliability so far Cons Priced at a premium compared to some alternatives You’ll only get the full benefit if your system supports PCIe Gen4 If you want a top-tier NVMe SSD and don’t want to worry about temps, this is an easy recommendation. ... show more

  • Great for PS5 memory
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 2TB
I bought this for my PlayStation 5 to expand the internal memory. I have been struggling with storage space and was constantly having o try and decide what to remove from my console so I could add another game. I did a fair amount of research and this was one of the more prominently suggested brands to go with. It’s not the cheapest in price but then when compared to others for memory size and speed it is fairly priced with great speed. I don’t get any lag when playing games that are stored on it. It was very easy to install and didn’t require any additional hardware or tools to install. A straight forward m.2 plug in with a single screw. As a solid state drive it makes absolutely no noise when used. Compatible with PS5 internal storage bay. Allows me to more than triple my internal storage for games. A must buy for those who want a nice selection of games installed. ... show more

  • Flawless PS5 upgrade – fast, simple, zero drama
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 2TB
Installed this SSD in my PS5 and it just works exactly as advertised. Physical install took literally 3-4 minutes (unscrew the cover, slot it in, screw it down). No issues at all. PS5 recognized it instantly, formatted in under a minute, and I started moving games over right away. Transfer speeds were blazing – big titles moved in a fraction of the time I expected. Real-world performance is excellent: load times noticeably faster, no stuttering, and the console stays cooler even during long sessions. If you want more PS5 storage and don’t want to mess around, this is the one to get. Expensive, but worth every penny for the speed and hassle-free experience. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great SSD, wait for the prices to lower
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 4TB
Works quite well, fast and efficient, but wait until the prices to drop to purchase. It is not worth almost 4 times the original amount.

  • ANOTHER MUST BUY FOR PS5/PS5 PRO.
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 4TB
TL;DR: best ssd for ps5 and ps5 pro. I upgraded from a 2tb Samsung 980 to this (4tb 990). It gives roughly 4.1tb worth of storage, so you actually get more than whats advertised, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. I wanted to buy the 8tb, but I saved $300 buying this and the 4tb Samsung t9 (get the t7 instead. I detailed it in my review for that). Like the previous ssd, it works as if running directly from the console. I bought this (and the t9) in preparation for the ps5 pro, downloaded everything (on both storages), and just waited for the pro to come in. When it did, I just installed the 990 into the pro, and that was it. Again, works as if installed into the console itself. All the benefits of using a pro (better visuals, better fps, pssr) are all noticeable with 0 issue. I have over 50 ps5 games, with equals about 2tb in storage. This combined with the internals (roughly) 1.5tb (usable), and the t9 gives me almost 10tb worth of storage. Seems insane, but can fill up quickly if you buy a lot of games, ESPECIALLY if they take up a lot of space (*cough* CoD *cough*). I think the price is decent, wish it was a little cheaper, but you can buy 2tb for around $150, so there's that. It's also dumb easy to install. Taking the ps5/pro's plate is harder than installing this, just make sure you have different screwdriver sizes on hand (don't know the size. If you have a multi socket screwdriver, you'll be fine). In the end, regardless of which storage capacity you go with (recommend 2tb minimum), this is the ssd to buy. ... show more

  • Solid Performance Boost 🎮⚡
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 1TB
I've used the Samsung 990 PRO Heatsink SSD for about a year and a half in my setup. It appears to be made of high quality materials, featuring an in-house controller with a nickel coating for better thermal management. Supposedly, this drive reaches near max performance with PCIe 4.0 and provides the best power efficiency, though I am not personally measuring the wattage at my wall outlet every second. It is awesome. The value is good for a 1TB drive that hits read speeds up to 7,450MB/s and write speeds up to 6,900MB/s. It is a perfect fit for the PS5 or desktops meeting the PCI-SIG D8 standard. The random read and write speeds are significantly faster than the 980 PRO, which helps with 3D modeling and data analysis. It has RGB LED lights for style, which is helpful because everyone knows red lights make your data move faster. If your computer still feels slow after installing this, the problem is likely sitting in the chair 💺 I recommend using the Samsung Magician software to monitor drive health and keep the firmware updated. This ensures you maintain that top performance without overheating issues 🖥️✨ ... show more

  • Great SSD. Just buy your own heatsink.
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 4TB
Look, this drive is ripping fast, ultra reliable.... Typical stuff from Samsung. I bought the 4TB model with the integrated heatsink, thinking it would be the best option to keep the drive healthy for a long time. Installed in my desktop, no problem. The issue is that I now want to move the drive to a different system. Specifically a gaming laptop. Obviously, the heatsink adds height and bulk to the drive, preventing it being used in confined applications. Removing the heatsink is both risky to your expensive drive and also voids the warranty. It also gets in the way of some external drive adapters. I now have to buy ANOTHER expensive SSD to correct that mistake. If you want to install this on a motherboard with no built in cooling solution, buy the bare drive, and use the 10 dollars you saved to buy an SSD heatsink that will take 2 minutes to install. And if you want to repurpose the drive later into a more space confined application, it's another 2 minutes and no warranty voiding. Other than that, stellar product. ... show more
