    • Really Great SSD Drive......and, great manufacturer

Used this new drive as a larger replacement for my C:/ drive (OS drive) in my Dell XPS 8930 desktop system. So far, this thing works great and is amazingly fast. My system originally came with a 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD drive. But, I was very close to the max limit on that drive and I was having trouble finding anything more to move to my secondary data drive. I also didn't really relish the idea of having to do a fresh windows 11 install and having to reload all my apps, data and everything else. I keep my system throughly updated and cleaned up, so I wasn't dealing with an old, bloated, slow install. I went with Samsung for this new SSD, for two reasons. First, I've bought Samsung drives before and was always impressed. But, most of all, because I was familiar with the Samsung Magician software that you can download free to do the data migration (cloning), as well as other ongoing drive maintenance. This free software will only allow you to transfer to a Samsung drive, so it's a no-go if you buy a different brand of drive. As expected, the Samsung Magician software is very good (now in Version 9.0) and it made the cloning of my old C: drive an easy and quick job. My old drive had nearly 220GB of data to be migrated to my new drive and it all happened in a little more than an hour. It copies and transfers every single bit of data from the original drive. Once it says the transfer has completed, you just shut it all down, transfer the new drive into your original C: drive socket and power back up. Everything is exactly the same as it was when you started. I had to use a UGREEN NVMe M.2 enclosure plugged into my computer through a USB port for the cloning operation, as my Dell desktop computer only has one NVMe M.2 slot. That was also purchased through Amazon for less than $20. So far, this new SSD drive is super fast and hasn't missed a beat since it was powered up. I highly recommend Samsung drives. One last note.......if you have questions or problems installing your new SSB, Samsung has a great customer service telephone help desk. Within 5 minutes of placing my call, I was talking to a very knowledgable computer expert that immediately answered my questions, made a couple of good suggestions and had me all taken care of. And, believe it or not, this guy sounded US based and was very easy to understand. All together, my problems were resolved in less than 10 minutes total, including a short wait to be routed to the correct product specialist. Way to go Samsung! ... show more

The current price is outrageous, but I got this drive a while back and it’s been amazing. I use one for my OS and boot drive, and I have one for my games. Boot times are between 8-10 seconds, and games run perfectly on it. The real issue right now is price. When I got this drive I paid less than 150 bucks for the 2TB. The current price is wild and as good as it is, I wouldn’t personally pay the insane amount. While the speeds are great, the average person/gamer isn’t going to notice that much of a difference with a cheaper one with slightly slower speeds. So price to performance I wouldn’t recommend paying the current amount. ... show more

I am only writing to say that it is insane how expensive all the memory has gotten. This is a great M.2 SSD but not for what it cost today. In April of 2023 this only cost me $180. Today it's on sale for almost $400 and the regular price is almost $700, insane. Fast SSD, no issues, easy installation, and compact. I would buy again but not at these prices. ... show more

I bought this SSD for my Satechi enclosure and my M4 Mac mini. It has been fabulous, and I have had no issues with the drive whatsoever. I wanted the best, and Samsung in my opinion is the best. I am thoroughly happy with my extra storage capacity. It was totally compatible with the Satechi dock/hub I bought for my M4 Mac mini with 32GB of Ram and a 512GB SSD. Learning through trial and era what I need and do not need to buy for my gaming PC. I had a knowledgeable friend. Suggest this because I bought an external SSD and that wasn’t running my games well. I was a little nervous since I don’t know much about computers and I had to mainly install it myself, but with one or two YouTube videos excessively installed this and it fixed every problem I was having and now my games, run fast and smooth and I wished I had done it sooner. I read reviews and this particular model was highly recommended and I can see why I got the one terabyte only because you know money is tight sometimes. always run your games on an internal solid state drive. The 990 PRO 4TB's hardware and performance look good (after using it for about a week). Samsung Magician does not work well with Windows 11 25H2 when Security Boot is enabled in the BIOS, which is a standard setting for most of Windows 11 computers: 1) Serial number was shown, but "Genuine" was not detected. 2) Firmware was 4B2QJXD7 and the available latest version 7B2QJXD7 was not found and Firmware was not listed in the Update. 3) Performance Benchmark has worked, but Diagnostic Scan and Performance Optimization did not work (were not available). Magician found the new firmware after disabling Security Boot and reboot, but after reboot Windows 11 refused to accept login password. The "premium" Samsung SSD has software compatibility issues caused by standard BIOS settings. Must it be? ... show more
