I couldn't sit on my deck without this. Works at keeping sun out and for privacy. This takes a little practice to lock into the slot to extend. It does have a wrinkle in it, it doesn't bother me but it's easy to get the crease when its rolled up most of the time.

West winds have been stronger this year. Installed this on a gazebo post to pull out when I am grilling. Gusts up to 20mph do not affect it. Much stronger than that I probably won’t be grilling anyway. FYI that the concrete anchors are metric and require a 12mm bit. Lucky I had one for my SDS drill. Read online that using a 1/2” bit instead allow anchors to pull out.

OMG, where do I start! I received the item and opened it up for install. I immediately noticed that the plastic surrounding the item seemed to be wet with oil? Upon removing the plastic and wiping down the oil (?) I noticed the awning container that is supposed to be mounted on the house was an extremely thin metal, literally I could crush it with my hand like a soda can. Alas, I assumed it was to cover the awning only and perhaps it didnt need to be heavy gauge. Upon mounting the awing on my home, the seams of the metal enclosure holding the awning separated at the bottom causing serious concerns about the overall integrity and longevity of the item itself. Upon opening the awing, I found it to appear stretched and mis-shapen, frayed along the edges, I actually couldnt believe what I had received and started to wonder if somehow a crap company had gotten through the Amazon vetting process and I had been scammed. Once the awning was extended, it would not retract. Immediately pulled it from my home and contacted the company for a refund. The company offered a $10 dollar refund if I kept the item. Upon declining the $10, they said they would provide a refund but I was responsible for shipping costs. I explained that their item was poor quality and the description misleading and insisted they pay return shipping at which time all communication stopped. Item is going straight into the garbage, let the buyer beware.

The southeast wind poses a recurring challenge during winter and early spring when we're sitting on our deck trying to enjoy the fire pit area while watching TV and savoring a cocktail. I'm optimistic that I've discovered a practical solution to mitigate this problem. Overall, installation was straightforward, and it includes mounting hardware for both wood and concrete. In my case, when installing on a wooden deck, it's crucial to ensure there's enough substructure for the anchor bolts. In my situation, I didn't have this support, so I added extra deck boards underneath to achieve the necessary thickness for the anchor screws. Quality seems to be better than reported previously. We shall see on the durability.
