  • Learning Curve
First, the delivery was fine. The delivery company communicated with me clearly and all was well. Second, this stove does not take an oval connection- so that was a bit of a bummer because I ordered one. Second, buy a draft regulator. I had no idea I needed one and if you are new to coal like me- anthracite is a little tricky to learn- the draft from my chimney caused the stove to over fire- not a problem with the stove per se - user error. Third, the stove is bigger than I thought- I measured everything out based on the dimensions, but visually bigger than I had pictured in my head. I need to get the draft regulator and refine my skill lighting an anthracite fire, but once all that is done I think this stove will work just fine. I have a big old Victorian house built in 1915 and live in Arkansas. While I don’t have Northern kind of winters, it does get cold and this house is big, drafty, and costly to heat. I’ve shut off a good portion of the house and this little stove will hopefully be my best friend during cold snaps. ... show more

  • This could come in handy
We bought this to add to our prepping. Hard to find in Florida but if a hurricane comes through you could still use one for cooking if electric is out for days. I was looking for an old one with the oven but am glad I have this for now. Bought the coleman camp oven to set on top of it for baking but havent tried it yet so not sure how it will work out. I do know it is getting a little rust on it even though it is under shelter and has not been used yet so will have to get the black paint for hot cookers and spray it down. We want to be able to take care of ourself if things go south and not count on anyone else. Still have a long way to go but every step is one step closer. We bought this on amazon and did not have any problems.. ... show more

  • Very disappointed. Missing peices, broken parts, and shoddy packaging. Wonder if the Protection Plan is any good.
Legs could not be used because 3 of the bolt holes were broken. The handle to remove the hot plates was missing and the cardboard box looked like the packaging had been dropped and bounced off of the ground multiple times. the stove is held together by bolts and 2 were missing. My opinion is that this is a very shoddy and cheap packing job. Now to see if they honor their Warranty. ... show more

  • Some quality issues, good design
One of the legs never got the ability to be connected correctly. It’s manufacturing defect. One of the segment between the 4 kids on the top was never fitting correctly. I had to use the grinder to fix it. I expect that most of the people won’t do that. I love the design. Definitely it’s not good for 1000 sqf as advertised. I expect that is good for 750 and if it’s very cold and the insulation is poor , it’s enough for 50 % of the advertised. There is missing information of the outputted BTU. And that should be the correct reading , not by SQF It’s very economical compared to my fireplace. I would say that is in about 8 times more economical. Usually the correlation between the fireplaces and the cast iron stoves May be similar. I don’t like the ring on the top of the stove . It looks very shallow and it’s not safe enough by understanding. The valve for regulation of the exhaust flow it’s totally useless. On the side of the stove there is a place from there you can clean the ash, collected during the burning process. I love the way how it works . ... show more

  • I can heat and cook in an emergency
This is my emergency heating and cooking backup. I also found 25 lbs boxes of coal online reasonably priced. Now I can comfortably relax even if we loose power for a month.

  • Heavy cast iron with good attention to quality
Shipping box was terribly beat up. All easily breakable pieces came bubble wrapped and shipped inside main stove body. Great cabin stove for what it is designed for. Abit pricey, but will cook you meals quickly and heats quite fast. Holds heat extremely well.
