🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

These reviews expose a well-built and functional stove with a straightforward assembly process and durability. Customers express great satisfaction with the warmth it provides, even in cabins or during a power outage. However, several reviewers have had issues with the delivery and packaging, with items arriving damaged. They also indicate that a damper on the front air vent is absent, which is available in more expensive stoves.

Pros

  • 🔥 Provides significant warmth, suitable for cabins and power outages
  • 🛠 Easy to assemble
  • 💪 Durable construction
  • 👌 Good value for the price

Cons

  • 📦 Numerous reports of delivery and packaging issues
  • 📐 Absence of a damper on the front air vent
  • 💨 Can lead to smoke if not used correctly

Should I Buy It?

If you need a cost-effective, easy-to-assemble, and functional stove and are prepared to handle potential delivery or packaging issues, this product is a solid choice. However, if the absence of a damper is critical for your needs, you might consider exploring other options.

  • Great Stove - Great Customer Service
The stove is great and the US Stove Company's customer service is top notch. The stove was shipped via Fed Ex and the box was broken up and taped together when it was dropped off. A cosmetic portion of the stove was broken. We contacted the manufacturer and would have been happy to just have the replacement part shipped, but they immediately sent out a new stove! This one was also broken, and having learned our lesson, we refused the delivery and sent it back. The US Stove Company then sent us the replacement part. The customer service we received was prompt and solution oriented. We are love the stove and are glad we purchased from this company! ... show more

  • Really efficient and effective stove!
This was easy to install, works very well and is more efficient than I expected. Nice little stove here! Make sure to leave the ceramic/foam baffle in there and run an outside burn before you bring it inside for use. Efficient and effective small stove.

  • Will do the job
I purchased this stove for back up heating when the power goes out. It’s smaller than I expected. The listing says it can hold 19 inch logs and it will, but take the thickness you would expect a normal wood stove to accept and split it again. When I received the stove the packaging was beat up pretty bad. Fortunately, when I opened it up, the damage was pretty much cosmetic around the top edges, pieces broken off, etc. but the firebox is completely intact. I installed with a flue damper about 18 inches above the stove. I didn’t make any changes to the stock draft controls built into the stove. When I started the first fire I tried to start in the middle (front to back). Not ideal. I then started with much smaller kindling and much smaller fire all the way in the back beneath the flue. This worked great. Once the kindling was burning well, I gradually added larger and larger pieces towards the middle and then the front of the firebox. I noticed that the fire easily worked it’s way forward until I had a nice, hot, self sustaining fire. Once established I could add larger logs. The stove has a well designed draft control if you use this approach. Some say their doors don’t seal but the door on mine seals up nicely, no leaks, no problems. The stove burned all night and in the morning only embers remained. I will say, if you’re going to use this stove to heat through a cold winter night you’ll need to add more fuel every 2~3 hours. If you have good draft, I wouldn’t make any changes to the draft controls built into the stove. ... show more

  • WASTE OF MONEY!
Doesn't do anything good! Made from the cheapest of metal! Supposed to be cast iron, but more like pot metal! Castings are of the lowest "quality", core shift is obviously a major problem! Two legs on opposite ends broke off after assembly because one leg didn't even reach the floor! It sat about 2-3 inches off the floor! After disassembling and reassembling multiple times to try and get the legs level, ended up getting one leg to sit only 1-2 inches off the floor! The flue collar was cast so poorly that it will never fit into the cast in flange it is supposed to sit in. I spent three hours grinding on it to finally get it to fit. I "tried" to get a fire started in it, only to discover it won't draw worth crap! Smoke filled the room every single time I opened the door, and every time I closed the door, the fire would go out! I even had placed 4 fire bricks in the bottom as suggested by the manufacturer. The problem is it just doesn't draw enough fresh air to support combustion with the door closed, and the huge block mounted in the top that fully blocks the flue opening certainly can't be helping. This is what you get when mindless zombie bureaucrats at the EPA forcing their stupidity on people. If possible, I'm going to try to get a refund, but as I had to modify it, I doubt that will be possible. I wasted $414 dollars on this thing, and I don't understand why the price fluctuates daily on Amazon. Right after buying and before it arrived, I saw the price drop to $389, then rise to over $700 and it's currently $500! What is up with that? It would be overpriced at $100! ... show more

  • Great value for the good quality.
The best stove for tiny spaces so far, been feeding it oak wood some seasoned some not all winter, almost 24/7 and not even a small problem with it. For its size it heats really amazing, obviously it depends on the wood quality too, but the cast iron does its job on keeping the heat quite a while after the wood is burned and zero smoke returned inside the house at all. ... show more

  • Needs better packaging as it arrived damage, heats well and is a good size.
We'll first off, their packaging and handling needs work. I was skeptical about ordering something like this as I understood how heavy it was and how fragile a cast iron piece can be. Sure enough one of the top front corners was broken, obvious signs of impact damage to the package. Perhaps strapping it inside a wooden crate may have saved it. I submitted a request for replacement through Amazon and for whatever reason they would replace it and only refund it. But wanted me to return it. I explained how much a hassle this would incur on me due to my location vs nearest drop off, and was hardly worth my time. They allowed me a 1 time offer to keep it or discard it. I decided then to spend the following 5 or so hours trying to repair it. I was successful in reattaching the piece and eliminating the sharp edges, luckily I am handy. But it has a nasty looking scar on it. We did install it and fire it in or sauna. There's a decent length of chimney with a 90 degree through wall about 4-5 feet above it. Admittedly this is not ideal to have a 90 this close to the top of the stove, I should add another 3-6 feet up top for additional updraft as it can get a little smokey trying to start it up. Without any rocks to add the water to it really does get the sauna cranking with heat. I'd like to replace our pellet stove in our house with one of these. Do know this is designed as a single rate burn stove and is not intended to be used with a damper, we put a damper on our sauna install and it does work good. Just know I am less concerned about my sauna burning down than my house so if we go the route of replacing the pellet stove we'll ensure it's installed per specs for insurance reasons. ... show more
