    • Mixed Feelings...because of limited frequency amplification
I have mixed thoughts on this item because people can have hearing loss in different sound frequencies. This item does indeed amplify sound but…and this is a big but…it seems to do-so mostly with HIGHER frequencies. To better explain, I did a little test. My wife has a speaking voice in the mid-range, kinda like say an alto singer. I gave her a few potato chips and two pieces of fine sand paper,- strange yes but for a reason. When seated 5 feet away from her while wearing this ear piece, I set the volume a tad over the lowest setting, I did have a little trouble hearing all of her softly “spoken” words. I turned the earpiece up a bit but still had some difficulties while ALSO hearing additional “higher” frequency sounds beyond her voice. However, I then asked her to break and crunch a couple of the chips and I heard those quite clearly. I told her that and she had a burst of “higher-pitched” laughter and when doing so…it actually kinda hurt my ear because of same. I then asked her to rub two pieces of the very fine grit sandpaper back and forth lightly. I could hear that sound as clear as a bell. I also could hear ambient noise in the room like the wind noise coming from the AC vent when it came on. (Never heard it before) SO…getting back to what I was saying, this ear piece seems to amplify the higher sound frequencies. If that’s where you have issues, I suppose it could help. Now, when I increased the volume more in attempts to better hear her spoken voice, those upper frequency sounds were amplified even further and quite intensely as well and negated the positive aspect of increasing the volume further. Another thing to note, is when I talked with this in my ear, it sounded like I was hearing my voice being played through a tiny speaker like a voice recording of some sort on a kid’s plastic game. Strange sensation. The manufacturer spared no expense in packaging and it came in a handsome box (similar to when you buy a smart phone, with a charger, cord, extra earplugs and instructions. It also came with a tiny, flat head screwdriver. (That driver, or something similar, is what you’ll need to increase the volume on the device.) I’d give this 3.5 stars if I could because it does what it says, AMPLIFIES SOUND! I couldn’t give it 4 stars because of the limited frequency range of that amplification. ... show more

Got this to replace a pair of hearing aids for my mother that didn't work well. She is able to hear things a lot better and not have to ask me to repeat myself repeatedly like she used to. Fits better & a solid battery length per charge. Multiple ear tip sizes included. Thank you!

    • Very clear and ample sound
Got this for an elderly that is known to not be able to follow instructions well and use any type of technology so I was surprised she was able to use this right away with no problem. The sound is very clear. She's been complaining about being deaf for the longest time. She used this and even complained it was too loud so volume clearly isn't an issue. I'm sure she forgot to change the setting and I'll look into it later but this hearing aid definitely works and is very easy to use which is most important for elderly people who aren't that tech saavy. ... show more

My mother only has a hearing problem in one ear, so I was surprised to find a single unit for sale. My mother was very resistant to the idea of wearing it. However, I let her try it on and then I deliberately asked her a question while 10 feet away on her bad side. I was shocked when she answered me. Now all I need to do is get her to wear it. Very easy to understand how to use it. I've had prescription aids for years so knee how to install. I can use the hearing aid to watch TV on my mobile phone at night without worrying about all the lines like ordinary headphones. It is easy to carry. Very satisfied and recommended.
