I needed a compact portable drive that is rugged. I’ve never owned a solid state drive so I decided to give this one a try. The drive comes with a small pouch and a USB adapter. Speed: I was wondering if Merucy portable SSD was living up to their promise of Read Speeds of up to 1000MB/s. So I attached it to my Macbook Pro. I used BlackMagicDesign's Disk Speed Test. The test result is (as in picture) Write speed was about 930MB/s and Read speeds around 944MB/s. That is above 90% of advertised as fast as expected for both read and write speeds. Size and Portability: It’s very small in size, lightweight and fit easily in you hand as you can see by my picture2 compare to my Iphone X. Interface: USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 or you can call it as USB 3.2 Gen 2 now, plus it comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter which is pretty useful. Compatibility: This is very easy to use. It’s ready to go right out of the box and requires no software installation. It works with my Macbook, Iphone (extra adapter needed), and Xbox. The indicator led is tiny and dim. This is great if you ever use the drive attached to a large display with room lighting off. The drive light will not be a distraction at all as many drives have bright drive indicator lights. Overall, Because of - 1. Fast speed 2. Build quality - dropproof, water and dust resistant 3. Compatibility and gaming performance 4. Portability I would highly recommend this product.

This worked great as an external hard drive for the XBoX until today. Completely flatlined when trying to use it. No excessive use or heat. I expected a lot more for a SSD that was $370. My recommendation is: Do Not buy this drive.

This SSD drive suits my type “A” personality just fine. I have always been the impatient type and I hate waiting on computers to complete long operations. Whether it’s a virus scan, a backup, or transferring a large number of files. I got rid of all of my rotating HDD drives years ago and only run SSD drives now in my 8-core AMD Ryzen desktop system. The SSDs have been very reliable so far.

I looked for external hard drives for additional storage since I was running out of space on my iMac desktop, Most of the files that would be stored on the hard drive are photos and videos of my family so it is important for me to have reliable storage. I had never used an SSD before, but I heard they were much faster than HDDs so I decided to try this one out based on the video review I saw on Youtube. It came with a nice little pouch to safely store the unit and USB-A adapter. I really liked how compact the unit is as my previous external hard drive (Seagate HDD) is much bigger. This makes it a lot more portable and easier to take with you on the go. It is less than a 1/2 of the size of my iPhone 11! While looks/aesthetics did not factor into my decision on which device to purchase, this SSD looks very tough, which is an added bonus! . I did not perform any specific speed tests, but this external ssd is extremely fast. I was able to load ~20 GB of pictures onto the SSD in around 10 seconds. While this is not a fair comparison, this device is much faster than my Seagate HDD. Using the device was also very easy. All I did to use the device for the first time was to plug it in, open it up from the D: drive, and start copying files over. I also liked that it worked seamlessly with a Mac as well as with an Asus laptop with no required configuration changes. For someone who is not extremely technically savvy, it was great to not have to do anything really to set up the device.

I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice size storage solution that easily fits into your pocket. It would work great as an on the go media holder for all of your media, or work in an office situation where you need to transfer files quickly to and fro different devices.

I have used this external ssd for work. I do a lot of work with graphic design software, mostly Adobe Creative Suite, which requires a certain level of computing capability on the drive. With this portable ssd, I can get a much shorter time of opening, processing, and saving large files. It meets my expectation. A very good upgrade from a hard drive. PLUS, it is light, so it doesn't add much weight to my bag, it is very important when I have to carry multiple portable drives with me for work. If you want a high quality drive to back up to once and then retrieve quickly later with good life expectancy, this is a great fit. It is, however, pretty impressive with the price. That said, it's fairly comparable to similar drives and is of good quality."

When I saw this external SSD and see how small it is and its rugged from the video clip. I had to get one as I'm a photographer and I'll always need a storage to keep my photo. Traditionally, I use external HDD for backing up my photos, but they are so big, heavy and taken up so much space when I travel and can be easily broken when dropped. The speed is fast !! I can transfer my work much faster than my old HDD. I love how they give you the cable: usb c to usb a. This enabled me to use it on both of my devices; one which as a usb c and one which doesn't have usb c. Lastly the carry pouch is nice, I put the cable adapter within it. it's also waterproof and remove the dirt very easily.
