I barely write reviews, especially years later however, this was such a great product I had to come back and let people know. I live in the suburban Windy City of Chicago and this umbrella is now going on It’s fourth year. The color is still vibrant red, no leaks and I’m purchasing a second one because of the great quality for another area in my yard. The umbrella has been outside since purchased but covered with an umbrella cover when not in use and during the winter months. I have used this umbrella a ton and have had some really questionable wind. I did purchase the water filled weights. You must keep them full with water in order for them to support the umbrella weight- Refill every few months. I do need to replace them after being outside 7/24/365 for the last four years as there are some small holes that leak if it’s not full. Great umbrella and reasonable price! Buy it!!! ... show more

Love this umbrella. Once you get used to how it works, you'll find it's super flexible for different angles and positions. It is sturdy yet bends in the wind to avoid breaking. I mistakenly left it wide open when a strong wind storm hit. Even though the wind blew it out if the base and onto the ground, hitting the pergola on the way down, there was no damage to the arms or fabric because of the way the arms bent with the wind and fall. Fantastic product engineering. Genius design for moving up, down, spreading out, as well as securing in the base. It covers a pretty wide area when up full. I invested in several cans of Scotchgard to waterproof it - you'll need six+ 42 ounce cans to cover it well; I just did the top, not the underside. Good enough I think. It's easy to assemble, although the directions are pretty lacking; typical for these kinds of products. If you are used to assembling this kind of stuff and use common sense, you'll have it together in under 1/2 hour. You'll need two people when it comes to inserting the main pole into the base; it's heavy and needs to be guided in, so one person lifts and the other guides. The rest can be done by one person. I'm also adding a shout out to their customer service. When it arrived it was missing the base piece that holds the center pole. I was pretty miffed as I had already taken everything out of the box and did not want to send it back. I went through Amazon vendor contact, explained, sent pictures and asked that they send me the missing piece. They are in China. They sent another complete umbrella that arrived a few days later, no charge (!). Now I have a 100% backup if anything breaks, and if not, a total 2nd umbrella free. Not bad! Can't beat it for the price (plus base and Scotchgard). If you're hesitating, don't - great product. And be sure to buy the base, which you simply fill up with water for the weight, which is enough to secure it unless you leave it open in high winds like I did. Allow me to start by saying that I do like this umbrella. It's nice that the industry finally realizes there are other valuable shapes for a deck umbrella other than round. Having a sizeable rectangular umbrella to cover our rectangle-shaped deck is quite nice. It appears to be made of quality materials. It should last for some time; however, only time will tell. As of now, my only criticism is that it says it is waterproof. The problem is with the seams. The main parts of the fabric do appear to be waterproof. We left it up during moderate rain that lasted about three hours. 90% stayed dry, but several parts of different seams did leak. It wasn't a tremendous amount, but enough that a few of the chair cushions did get wet. My other concern is about the color. We were pleased to find a gray color, and it states that it is fade resistant; again, only time will tell. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase. The price was reasonable; it was delivered on time, and the assembly was straightforward. I do recommend this umbrella. Again, a bit of leaking with the seams, but not enough to return it. So I’m getting a hot tub and we needed an umbrella. While waiting on the tub (Covid is slowing the world down to a crawl) I researched lots of umbrellas. I waited for prime day and pulled the trigger on this one. Took a few weeks to arrive. Mine arrived in perfect shape with all parts and the poorly executed manual. With that being said I’m pretty mechanical and I had it up in no time by myself. I’m 6’4” 225lb. If you are small or weak I’d get help this thing is tall heavy and awkward to put together. Initially I was very impressed by the heft and thickness of the metal parts seems like it should hold up! Most negative reviews I read are from ppl whose units were damaged in shipping or they improperly mounted them. It needs to be weighted down not screwed down (I’m sure it could prob be screwed down if done properly but...) I didn’t want to spend $80 on the sunnyglade 176lb plastic base since it had some poor reviews that said it busted and filling with sand is more money and it’s a pain. Instead I bought four 20”x20”x2” 65lb each square pavers from a box store at $6.28 apiece for a total of 260lbs of weight. As overkill I also got four 16”x16”x2” 38lb each decorative red cobblestone pavers to go on top at $4.98 each for a total of 152 additional lbs. So really the 4 big blocks would have been fine but all 8 were still less than $50 including tax and it would take a hurricane to budge the 412lb of total weight. Chose this style because it is very simple to operate. Wanted my wife to have no problems using it without help. 360° Rotation and tilt are easy and so needed. Also the color was true to the picture and it’s very brilliant. Grabbed a cheap set of umbrella lights to go underneath, can’t wait to use the umbrella with our hot tub. (getting cold now tho in Michigan 😎) ... show more
