  • CRE C20 Review: 2 hours in and they are Awesome!
CRE-C20 Review. I have been wearing the C20 hearing aids for about 2 hours now and they are great so far. Setup was easy. The hearing test was easy. I also have Apple Air Pods configured as hearing aids. With the C20, there is no jumping back and forth between apps like with Air Pod setup. Everything is done in one simple app. The C20 fit my ears much better than Air Pods, which I can never quit get to seal properly. When I get them seated properly, the Air Pods make very good hearing aids. But, the Air Pods want to come loose, squeal, turn themselves off, or fall out if I talk or chew. Therefore, I only wear them while watching TV. The C20 are so tiny! They are captured by the geometry of the ear so they don't feel like they are going to fall out. They are so comfortable! There is no hiss or background noise. High frequency sounds that I was missing are just there. I am using the closed sleeves so far. I just left the factory installed sleeves as they were. The bundle I purchased include vented sleeves that supposedly make the users own voice sound more natural. I used the default volume setting in the app. I have been conversing with my wife, and I can hear her perfectly even when she moves to the next room. No more huh, what did you say? C20 doesn't play music like the Air Pods, but I don't use them for music anyway. For Blue Tooth music, get the larger Sony CRE-E10. Time will tell if I have problems with the app forgetting my settings like some other reviewers, but so far, I love my new hearing aids! Great job, Sony! ... show more

  • Left Earbud Died Within a Month, Return Window Impossible
I purchased the Sony CRE-C20 Self-Fitting OTC Hearing Aids on May 5th, 2025 for my mostly deaf father. At first, they worked well: setup via the Sony self-fitting app was straightforward, the fit was comfortable, and the improvement in his hearing was dramatic. However, within the first month the left earbud stopped working entirely. Just from basic use during the day, charging at night... We followed every troubleshooting step we could find, including: Cleaning and drying the earbud and charging contacts carefully Fully charging both earbuds and ensuring correct seating in the charging case Resetting the device in the Sony Hearing Aid app and re-pairing to multiple smartphones Checking for and installing any firmware updates Verifying there was no physical damage (no drops, no moisture exposure, and no misuse) Consulting Sony’s official troubleshooting guide and searching online forums for additional tips Despite all of this, the left earbud remains dead. We reached out to Sony support but were unable to resolve the issue. At $999, I expected a durable product and responsive support if something went wrong. Instead, half of the device is unusable, making it effectively worthless for my father’s needs. To make matters worse, Sony tells me to return the hearing aids through Amazon, but Amazon says the 30-day return window has passed. This rigid return policy is unacceptable for such an expensive 'medical device' that failed so quickly. ... show more

  • Six hour charge only
Works fine for the price. You might have to try a couple size buds (provided) to get them to fit right. Only last about six hours on a charge though.

... show more

  • Great hearing aids subpar application app.
I gave the Sony CRE-20 three stars solely because of their application (app). The app is lacking individual volume and balance features. So when adjust one you are adjusting both. Not everyone’s hearing is the same for both ears and to have individual independent volume and balance controls would be a huge plus! They could also add more environment controls to the app. If they did that then they would have a five star product. I personally don’t mind that they are not Bluetooth compatible. Because I would rather have them fit totally into the ear canal which they do. Sony you have been in the sound business for a very long time and I know that you can produce a better quality application app for this product. ... show more

  • We will never know if they are any good.
To use these hearing aids you must sign in to your "Sony" account. My wife doesn"t have a Sony account so it keeps telling her that her login and/or password is incorrect. She was trying to actually create an account. Second, you have to grant Sony permission to collect any and all data from your phone to even get past the first page to get to the login rejection page. They might be the best hearingcaids known to man but we'll never know. One would thonk that after paying $1000 for a pair of earbuds, that they would come with a simple app to adjust volume and tone. Nope, you have to sign away all phone rights to get the app IF YOU CAN EVER SIGN IN. ... show more

  • The Best
Best hearing aids that I’ve ever owned. And I’ve owned some expensive ones The app was good. Took the test and they worked first time. The case has magnets that help them to snug into their slots. Charging is by USB-C or wireless.
