  • Wish I had bought this sooner!!
Color: White
We are a three cat household and have been battling with the hassle of litter boxes and tracking for years. I finally broke down and bought this unit and, WOW, I just wish I had gotten this a long time ago!!! The main reasons that I decided on this unit over others are the SIZE (I wanted something big enough to fit my 15 pound fluffy boy cat), The fact that it’s ENCLOSED (to minimize litter messes), the DRUM DESIGN (it’s not only safer, but critically the drum can be easily lifted and washed out with the hose for easier cleaning). I also noticed on other reviews that the APP for fluffy cat seems to be a lot better than some of the other brands. When this came in, it did not disappoint! It was easy to set up. The app works great. The weight monitoring is precise enough so that I can tell which cat is using the box, which is a great feature for health tracking. We use world’s best litter, which is a natural corn-based litter and small granules. That seems to be working just fine, and I haven’t had any issues so far with messes inside the box from the cleaning cycle. I do think it’s important to turn on the shake setting, which is a feature of the app and helps ensure that all of the waste is coated in litter so you don’t get smears on the inside walls of the drum during cleaning process. I set the automatic clean to occur 20 minutes after use to make sure enough time goes by for urine to properly clump. I’m also very surprised with how well my cats took to this. I was worried that especially our shy female cat would be afraid of it. But all three cats got in and used it within the first hour of setting it up and have been choosing this box over the others in the house since we set it up. Some litter does still end up outside the entrance to this box but it’s certainly a manageable amount and nothing that a mat can’t solve. I’d say the tracking is equal to if not less than what you would expect with any other box. Overall, well worth the money, and a must have for multicat households! Jury is still out on ease of cleaning manually and odor control, but I will update the review for those. ... show more

  • First days compared to LitterRobot
Color: White
UPDATE a year later: Still think this is a terrific option. The one time I did have a question, support was terrific with an offer to replace if continued concerns about weight measurement--but the litterbox was right. This has worked like a charm, absolutely no complaints. Handles two cats easily. In particular, the app keeps track of the two cats independently, uses graphics and gives you today, weekly or longer period comparisons--something I haven't seen on most auto litterboxes. Has been very useful data for one cat with IBS. UPDATE after 6 months: A+++. AND without it, I would have missed that one cat was losing aot of weight. Terrific litterbox, much better than prior LitterRobots. ORIGINAL POST: We've been loyal LitterRobot users for over a decade...versions 1, 2 and 3. We've only had this FurryTail model for two days, but here's what we've seen so far: -Both cats instantly started using it. LitterRobot 3 is still set up for the transition, but they're ignoring it. - the FurryTail model has more room for our long male cat. He's not fat--but he is 20" from nose to base of tail. He can move around better in this. Hoping that decreases little nuggets we'd occasionally find lying around the house. -The entry to this is lower than the LR 3, an advantage for our older cats. - It's much quiter than the LR 3. We keep these about 20 feet from our bed, with no doors in between, so that's an advantage. We've found no need to use DND. - The FurryTail has a smaller, more compact footprint, also great. -We are also getting older, so appreciate having an easier-to-reach (higher location) waste container. And then there's the far better price. I'm assuming LitterRobot lost their patent--the reason there are suddenly so many competitors. I'd bet all of these have a hefty mark-up. But with the coupon, the FurryTail is much more affordable. I don't see paying $800 for the constant irritation we've had with the LR 3 (see below), and the LR 4 ratings on Amazon are even worse. Two more reasons we skipped going with LitterRobot again: now that the company has been sold, I notice you have to pay extra for a 6-month warranty. With the original owners, the free lifetime support was terrific. No more. Last reason: the LR 3 has been down more than working for the past year, and we're tired of dealing with it. When we travel, it had become so undependable I'd had to leave out a back-up old fashioned open litter box. Note that the FurryTail requires a slower WiFi connection (2.4 GHz) than the default in many homes, so we set up a separate router channel for the FurryTail--works just fine. Also, to have two people using the app, you set up the first person then use "Share" function in the app. If you try to set the app up on two phones without doing that, the second installation will delete the first. Took a day going back and forth on two phones to figure that out. And if there's a setting to change the data to 12 hr time, versus 24 hr time, I haven't found that yet; the constant translation is tedious, so hope to be able to change that, but not a big enough deal to subtract a star. ... show more

  • Unchained From the Litterbox!!!!!
Color: White
Very ambivalent about getting an "automatic" litter box mainly because my cats might not use or be comfortable with. First I ordered another brand but it showed up broken, missing parts etc and the company never even reached out to show any concern. So I looked at similar ones and found FurryTail! The box showed up intact. When I opened all was solid and packed well. Comes with months worth of bags AND a useful/funny litter mat which I thought might be useless but is actually very helpful! Super easy to set up! You don't have all day so I'll get to it: • Super easy to set up. Remove from box, read instructions which are VERY clear (remove ALL packing foam, plastic wrap, tape and padding - the padding is between the base and the round unit that needs to rotate, *make sure to remove tape at back of unit where the "arm" (the piece that locks the alignment of the box and base "gear"), set litterbox back onto base, snap the "arm" back in place, plug in. Install the collection bag by pressing the button to open the compartment, pull off the magnetic securing "ring", poke the "open" end of one of the bags provided through the inside of the ring, fold down to yellow line on bag, fit ring back on guides (with magnet facing towards the box), close lid and add litter. • LITTER: In my experience, a traditional CLUMPING litter seems to work best. Right now I am using Arm & Hammer multi cat clumping litter and it works great! • SMELL: Wow! If I'd only known sooner not only how well this would Contain the smell) • TIME: SOOOOO much time saved! I used to scoop the box 2 times a day and NOW it all collects in the bag without me lifting a finger and I can toss 1 - 2 times a week. • QUIET! - I threw some waste from the old box into the new so they would "know"...ya know? Later I went to see if they had used it...I saw no waste...I checked the waste compartment and sure enough...clumps n lumps! IN the BAG, CONTAINED and NOT smelling! • CATS: They were cat like...had a look, said "whatever", kept using old box...I let that one run out of litter and then they HAD to use the new one. Was my worried my big cat wouldn't like it/fit or use but has done so with no problem. ONE of the cats though is obsessed with the new box. • SAFETY (obsession contd.): The obsessive one HAS to investigate by sticking it's paw in "mid-turn" (when the box is rotating to empty) - when the cat does this it STOPS and does not move again til it senses all is clear. This cat is getting less curious and not pulling out clumps as often not so that "problem" (the only so far) is resolving itself. • APP: There is an app for those who want to really get into their cats movements. I DO NOT use it. The box works GREAT without the app - just install bag, litter, plug in and you're off...you don't get info/updates but you get a clean box, more time for other things and happy cats. *Note: I LOVE A&H "Hardball" which is the best litter I have ever used BUT it TRACKS like Crazy because it's little tiny bits of sand-like material which is why I switched to the more traditional. TIP: * If you have trouble with cats peeing on stuff, make sure you have CLEAN box(s) that are easy to get to and NOT near food or their or your bed. Cats will often pee/poop on clothes and other things on floor or on your bed when they are either sick (that's their way of telling you) or when their Box is filthy. I used to clean my box twice a day, NOW I can pull the bag out 1-2 times a week and toss. ... show more

  • Huge design flaws - skip it!
Color: White
I rarely write reviews here but I've had this for a little over a year and am seeing the same consistent issues with it, so before you drop hundreds of dollars just want to talk about the reality of this litterbox. For background, I have two cats, live alone in a small-ish apartment, and have some mobility issues from a spinal injury. Bought this in Oct 2024 mostly to alleviate some of the chore of dealing with daily cleaning. It is one of two litter boxes in my apartment. The pros: my cats never got hurt in this, it does turn on after every use, cats took to it with very little issue. However, there are several serious design flaws that make this litterbox not worth it the price tag. For one, if you can't connect the litterbox to your wifi/phone, you're SOL in terms of most functions that you can choose. I tried my darndest to do it - and even when I bought it I was a little annoyed that I needed an app for it (do I really need another app on my phone?) but figured it was worth it based on reviews. Well, was never able to get the thing to connect, so was stuck with the limited manual functions (Clean/Spread Litter Flat/Replace Litter). That might sound just annoying but it really ended up messing up the overall functionality. I'd recommend if you can get the app to work to have it wait a few minutes for the litter to really clump before the clean cycle. What I found is that at the default settings, even though I buy great clumping litter, the clumps had not solidified enough so it ended up smearing all over the inside and the inner flap, which is very difficult to clean. Speaking of cleaning - kind of a nightmare. I usually do a full clean of my litter boxes every two weeks. This one I ended up having to do every week. I'm sure some folks can just throw it in the backyard and hose it down, but I'm in an apartment with no outside space, so had to clean it in the bathtub. The "pouch" area where the waste is stored is INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to clean - after you remove the bag there's no inner liner you can remove, so you're left manually rotating the removed drum and trying to push the litter out of the cracks as much as possible, and it's almost impossible to sanitize it because of this. Also because you can't remove all accumulated litter in this area, the second any water hits it it turns into an absolute mess. Below picture is when a bag tore inside the pouch and it was an absolute horror to clean because of that. Just pissy litter absolutely clinging and smeared in the inside. Secondly there is a "replace litter" function that supposedly gets the litter in the bag for ease of cleaning, but there's always some litter left in the bottom of the drum, and to my previous point, trying to thoroughly wash the drum created a ton of sludge that it's almost impossible to remove from the drum completely. You can't disassemble the drum so again you have to figure out how to maneuver it so the water and sludge aren't trapped inside. I also noticed during the summer that flies were able to get into the waste pouch if a piece of waste got stuck in the flap - I won't go into the gross details but dirty litter becomes a perfect medium for them to breed, which created huge issues for me. Last but little picky critique - the litterbox is LARGE, so make sure you have the space, but also remember that the bigger the box the more it is to clean. The drum isn't what I would call "heavy" but it's bulky as heck and that definitely contributes to how challenging it is to clean and sanitize. Overall, skip this one. I'm currently on the hunt for a different model and it's a shame because it feels like I just lit $400 on fire and now this is basically expensive landfill. ... show more

  • Good Litter Box, App Could be Better
Color: White
The litter box is good and I have 9 cats. I definitely need a Litter Robot 4 or another one of these along with the regular ones. It's quiet and easy to clean. The app is decent, it let's you track your cats easily however it does get a little janky when you're replacing Litter. The screen on mine flickers in and out for some reason even though everything is plugged in, it's never lost power though. The sensors work great and instant, never had any scares with a cat being inside and it moving. All 9 of my cats use it and like it. It comes with a pee guard and an extra sifter which is nice, but it broke unfortunately. For 9 cats I definitely recommend having it on clean after each use, and the change rate for my house is about once every 4-5 days for the bags. If you have a normal about of cats, probably clean every 10-30min or somewhere around there or the clumps become too big for it to get into the chute. ... show more

  • Great value for the money!!
Color: White
I was between this unit and the PuraMax2 because at the time they were on sale for the same price - but decided to pull the trigger on this one and I'm glad I did! PROS • Large Capacity - I read varying info on how long it could last without changing but we were out of town for more than a week (maybe week and a half) and the bag lasted no problem! • Odor Control - I also was worried about odor control since there's no integrated system int he storage bin but it keeps the smell in very well! The only time I notice a smell is immediately after the cat poops in it, but I have the delay now set to 1 min and that seems to work great! • Design - It had a nice sleek look to it, easy to clean, and is bigger than it looks online. • App - Overall the app is really simple and easy to use but it does have it's quirks (see below). • Safety - safety sensors work great and the overall design limits any sort of hazards for the cat. CONS • Storage Bin - for some reason, even though the opening is sealed magnetically around the bag, somehow bits of litter wind up in the storage bin. I need to do a deeper dive to see why this is happening. •Litter - it says you can use all types and recently we had our cat neutered and needed to go with a dust-free option for a week or so and used wood pellets - even with the large screen it seems to get a lot of wasted pellets in the trash bin, though perhaps that's due to their size •App Quirks - Overall the app is god but occasionally it logs you out for no reason and it won't store your login info for auto-fill so that's annoying to have to re-log in. Also if your cat put son weight, as ours did since he's a rescue, the app will list it as "Unknown" in the log if it doesn't match the weight you enter in your cat's profile info. Also I wish the app had the option to reset the scale when you add new litter - currently you have to do this on the actual unit by pressing OK twice (had to do internet research to figure that out). • Leveling - the self-leveling features is just okay, it tends to leave a big low spot on the left edge of the box, I wish you could adjust the tumble angles or something to dial it in better. • Refilling - since the opening is on the front and there's no way to top load it, adding litter can be a bit cumbersome. Overall LOVE it and it's made our new cat ownership so much more hassle-free! ... show more

  • Best product and reasonable price
Color: White
PROS: After my rotator cuff surgery last year, my husband was relegated to cleaning our two regular cat litter boxes, and he was worried that I might not fully healed yet so we decided to purchase a self-cleaning cat litter. As there so many choices to consider, we rely on customer reviews to guide as make a smart decision and the two of us divide and conquer mission to read almost all different products reviews. As we go back and forth on discussing the pros and cons, we unanimously agreed to choose Furry Tail product; not only price wise is reasonable but the inside space is spacious for two cats. I really like that the poop shoot is based on rotation gravity mode, as I read from others who have chosen the bottom poops shoot, the smell is still lingered. It informs you how frequent your cats use the machine also gives you information if they are in need for checkups. But on this product I can confidently attest that the smell is contained unless after the cat do their poopies business that you can tell that they used the litter box. There was a wise man advised from one satisfied customers that you have to set the cycle timer for at least 20 or 25 minutes to give enough time for cat litter to clump to avoid nasty mess inside your box and I can honestly say that my box is still spiffy clean like the first time we got it! I haven’t empty the cat litter to replace it with fresh litter as the manufacturer advised you, I just keep on adding cat litter. It doesn’t smell at all and I just keep on picking little nuggets which was left behind. CONS: 1) A bit difficult to connect it to Wi-Fi, lack of clarity on instructions. It took as awhile but the customer service person was so wonderfully helpful to walk us through the process. 1) Regarding the capacity of 💩 percent read, don’t rely fully on it because it depends on the number of your cats and their usage’s. I change the plastic bags that the manufacturer provided us for a year supply, so generously provided, when the reading reaches to 65% not exceeding 75% the drum starts to rotate laboriously and got stuck halfway rotation, when that happens, don’t panic, just restart the machine and it will resume the rotation again. Avoid that mistake to protect the longevity of your machine. 3) The screen sifter is a bit big which let the nuggets to go back down the sifter instead of dispersing them down the 💩 shoot. I will wash the drum when the weather gets warmer this summer. Words of advice, use the Arm and Hammer Clump and slide it is what I use for now until I find something less dusty, less litter tracks, and organic but Arm and Hammer is less dense and clump better. I hope my review helps you make a better choice like how the customers reviews helped us make a better decision. This are the ONLY minor flaws that I can say about this product. ... show more

  • 7 month review
Color: White
I didn’t want to write a review without having tested the product for a few months with my four cats. After first receiving this litter box I was so excited and hopeful. The set up was pretty easy and I loved the look of it. My first issue was connecting it to the WiFi took well into 45 mins to connect and only stayed connected for a week. Tried reconnecting over the span of three days and finally just gave up. The app was nice while it was connected and only had a few bugs when it would stop working. The liner bags were ok they definitely will rip but I started using trash bags after I ran out just due to coast. My second issue was trying to clean it due to the small entrance hole it makes it a little difficult to be able to reach certain spots the drain hole on the back is nice to help get the water out. My third issue is the rubber liner in the bottom after about three months the liner started to come off on both sides where there is only adhesive holding it on. I think it’s mainly due to the adhesive losing its strength and cats trying to cover their business. I tried to do what I could to tape it up and even tried gluing it back but nothing has worked. Litter gets under it and then comes out of the vent slits at the bottom of the box. Over all even with the issues I’ve had it has made my life a lot easier as far as scooping goes and all 4 of my cats love it. Really wish the seller would make replacements for the inside liner though I would definitely spend the money to be able to just replace it once it starts lifting. ... show more
